Goofy is a good guy. He really only wants what's best for his son but doesn't really know how to connect to him and yes for a single parent there's really no one he can turn to get advice himself. I suppose he got that new girlfriend but that was well after the fact. But really who else can goofy turn too? Pete? I guess he could have turned to Donald but they've since moved to other places and Micky doesn't have kids.

Because as easy as it is to call Max a little shit (and by gum is he) he's not really all that bad and didn't have the heart to tell Goofy he didn't want anything to due with their trip till it was too late and in a moment of weakness he made a selfish choice.

The concert wasn't just a stop for Max. He specifically needed to get on stage, they didn't even have tickets.
It also wasn't on the way, it was far out of the way.
And even if they decided to go to Lake Destiny after the whole movie, their car was basically a wireframe at that point, I think they would've liked to have just gone home.

Nah. I grew up watching Extremely and not the first movie but even I think it's the lesser. The plot's shallow so they end up padding a lot of it with musical sequences. They're nice and all but it's still padding.
