The interviews (there were 2 of them) were done before his internet was cut. They were subsequently heavily edited to make them seem as if they were new.
The Swedish police didn't actually see him or get to speak to him in person. They spoke to an "intermediary" from the Ecuadorian embassy who "relayed" messages from Assange. Also note that Assange's lawyer wasn't allowed to attend the meeting either.

If anything, the shadiness surrounding the media and police interviews only add fuel to the fire. Not only has no one seen or heard from him in over a month, but the powers that be are trying to make it seem like he's still very active. That's dodgy as fuck.

Also, @wikileaks is still talking to people but now refuses to authenticate with their private PGP key--a practice that Assange would do frequently to verify his identity. They have actually blocked any twitter accounts asking them to verify with their private PGP key.

If you knew no one was looking at the bitcoin block chain for your private key, you would choose a special date YYYYMM or MMYYYY since that would be an existing block, you would then choose a key from that block that was the product of roughly two prime numbers that are not too small to make the chosen key reasonably secure.
