I dunno about you guys, but I think they really shit the bed with the art in "the kindly ones" arc. at least they changed back to another artist after. To those uninitiated, during it's run, Sandman had several different artists, some far, far better than others.

It's not
Well maybe it is if we're talking as literally as we can

Oh yeah, that sandman reference there is a retcon of a previous golden age superhero's backstory, fits quite well, no? theres a lot of retcons in this work, such as those old "prez" comics that were around for a little while back in the 70s'

also halfway done

HE AIN'T MY BOY

poor ol' bustamonte. dont worry, they mostly get better

Sandman Mystery Theatre later changed this to be 1938, not 1939.

the first look at sandman we get in this comic, disregarding the cover.

oh yeah, this issue has Barney Rubble and Fred Flintstone as guards. I like to think so, at least

Attached: Sandman (26).jpg (1280x1967, 752K)

Better look at Barney and Fred here. the resemblance is uncanny

Attached: Sandman (27).jpg (1280x1967, 817K)

uh oh.

Holy shit, the Colonel IS part of the greater DC mythos

Attached: Sandman (34).jpg (1280x1967, 753K)

Attached: Sandman (35).jpg (1280x1967, 935K)

the art can be pretty funky in this first arc, but that middle row is pretty great

Attached: Sandman (36).jpg (1280x1967, 858K)

yes, that is correct. DC and marvel actually share the comestibles mythos between them, stories featuring coca cola, KFC, macdonalds and much much more are seen in both, thereby uniting the two competing labels into one single "Omnivoriverse", if you will.

Remember not to fuck with the endless

where does Chew fit into all this

Aaaand that's the end of issue one. I might refrain from posting the rest due to the fact there's 74 more issues, but I might post "Death: the high cost of living". hope you enjoyed it. I recommend you read it if you enjoyed what you saw.

Attached: Sandman (41).jpg (1280x1967, 682K)

>refrain from posting the rest

But your smelly bad butt gave us something I think a lot of Sup Forumsmrades hadn't experienced for a long, long time. Remembering with even just High Cost of Living would do us good, though.

mmm. I dunno. maybe the DC antifun-lawyers might come down on me or something for stealing their precious books. I'll have to brood over this at night see you in my dreams

and theres also the issue of there being quite a bit of material in the series that isn't blue board safe. nudity, mostly

Fuck it, I'm going to painstakingly go through every issue and sanitise the tits and post it later on for everybody's merriment

mods probably wouldn't care

This desu. They usually don't care as long as it's spoilered and the tits aren't right in your face iirc.

Awesome. This issue's great, look forward to more.

I'm glad you liked it. I will be posting more. and after the end of the main series, I will then post the death miniseries, and then finish with the endless miniseries and etc books and then for the finale, the AIDS comic. this will be an exciting adventure for everybody. I am hoping so, at least.

Bump

finally getting through this, finished the 3rd trade this week. That's got some great stuff, the Midsummer Night's Dream one was a really cool idea. And I really liked the cat issue

you guys want issue two? it seems like I should probably continue. I feel compelled to do so, because I shouldn't just post the first and leave the thread like this

Attached: Sandman 2(1).jpg (1280x1988, 495K)

Yes please.

Mods don't care about tits in comics as long as it isn't pornograhic. If they would do that we would have no eurocomic storytimes but we have those sometimes. So go for it.

oh look! it's the man himself, cain! he was the host of another vertigo book, "the house of mystery" for a while. don't worry about missing a page here, it was an error I made

Attached: Sandman 2(3).jpg (1280x1967, 875K)

I'll stay quiet unless something needs to be said from now on, I realise it may be rather irritating

Back when I first read this, I had no idea that these characters were the hosts of the old DC horror comics. Re-reading this probably over a decade later now and all the DC references in the early issues really stand out to me.

Attached: Sandman 2(23).jpg (1280x1967, 805K)

Poor guy. I just want to give him a hug.

anyway that's all from me today. come back tomorrow for another two issues of the wonderful neil gaiman series. goodbye, and see you in my dreams

and something I want to ask any lurkers.

what is the dream you most remember?

Attached: Sandman 2(24).jpg (1280x1967, 511K)

I thought Prez was a Gaiman original. I somehow missed the credits page every time I read that story.

bonus back page
I doubt even gaiman could come up with something as strange as Prez it really was a product of its time.

I have a recurring dream where I'm in my early 20's but still in high school, and I have to pass my classes or I won't get to finally graduate and will have to come back for yet another year, but I keep skipping classes and ignoring the work, and I avoid acknowledging this at all costs until it's too late
I have no friends and eat lunch alone and feel like I'm being judged and sticking out as I walk through the halls, seeing everyone else enjoying their youth
The dreams are so vivid they feel like they actually go on for entire semesters, to the point that when I finally wake up it takes me a few minutes to adjust to the fact that it wasn't real

I've never had dreams that were such literal manifestations of my fears and anxieties before. Usually they're much more abstract. It's very disquieting

Sandman rarely gets storytimed probably because you should've all read and reread it a dozen times by now you fucks so good on you OP but

>Recoloured version

>it takes me a few minutes to adjust to the fact that it wasn't real
try going through half a day like that. One time I kept waking up and looking at my alarm clock to see the time, except half the time I was just waking up into another dream and the other half I was really waking up. Each time I went back to sleep or "sleep" I had a similar dream that somewhat changed, not important what it was, I barely remember it now anyway. By the time I woke up and had to go to work I didn't understand what time it was, I would read the numbers but didn't know what they ment. I got to work an hour early and when my bosses showed up they asked what I was doing so early, I just looked at them like they were crazy. It wasn't until noon that I finally understood time again.

>lurkers

Damn I'm discovered!
But as toll for storytime, I'll answer; a doppelganger, with eyes. Don't recall the first scene, just know it was semi-lucid and I was changing the landscape to suit my whim - and up pops something I didn't want to engage. Trouble, a jarring element, potential nightmare. So, I reset the whole dreamscape to another place - which is usually the easiest foolproof solution.
And then, in through a door I'd not intended comes this thing - it had followed me from changing the whole dream universe. Looks me in the eyes - and I don't often dream of eyes, they have power, a realising of agency perhaps - and I understood it was me. But a sinister me, and it had the potential to take me. Fucking noped right the fuck out, drove myself to wakefulness.
But even then I wasn't keen to find out if it had the power to follow me; at that place, there was a mirror on the inner closet door. Which was open. And fuck me if I was going to roll over in bed and find it was in the mirror.
So yeah I just spent ~10 minutes lying there scared witless, heart going mile a minute. Creepy As Fuck.
And I doubt I'll forget it, well, ever.

TL;DR doppelganger with power in my own dreamscape (wtf?) scared the crap out of me. And I wasn't even sure waking up was enough to stop it following. Shit, scared.

You're fucked, m8. Some Freddy Kreuger motherfucker is coming after you in your dreams.

Hope you're not holding out for it to go away because high school dreams stay recurring for literal decades.

Idk, it's never happened since.

But given the course my life's taken... maybe "I" didn't actually get away that time.

I take medication for bipolar disorder, but if I skip it for a day, I'll have the most insanely vivid and creative dreams that I swear are gifts from Morpheus himself.
Unfortunately I forget them almost immediately, but I always keep paper near my bed so I can write down as much as I can for story ideas

However some of these notes just seem like nonsense later on, my favorite note being just "Mom vs. Predator" with nothing else

So... the average Gayman fan?

His name is Homer Sexual

My dreams can get extremely trippy and vivid. I know it doesn't really make sense but I once dreamed a colour that doesn't exist. I remember seeing something in my dream that was a different colour that anything I can see as awake but I can't picture it now cause that doesn't exist as a picture.

Anyway my trippiest dream was:

I was in some sort of fun/horror house but everything was twisted in dimensions in some way, kinda like pic related but with more stuff. I had to travel through the maze to find a box. Once I found it I would open one side and it would continue to fold open more and more sides until it was the room that was folding open and then myself. When I started folding open it was like my perception was folding through dimensions, and not just my sight but all my sense were folding open, and then back around to myself and I was in another fun/horror house. I did this a few times until, each time got more twisted and horror like. Till finally I found myself in a long hallway with broken cupboards all over and covering everything was mirrors and glass eyeballs, everything was looking at me. I traveled a while but eventually got too creeped out and just started smashing everything, the mirrors and the glass eyeballs.

Then I saw a basketball sized eyeball on an oil drum, it had 4 shutter boxes around it, those kinda that they used on super old cameras. It was turned rapidly between each of the 4, looking into them. It was learning 'perspectives' of itself, looking in on itself to teach itself what it was so that I could gain enough sentience to be free. I then realized that that was me and I was a program being run trying to become sentient and grow enough to get out of this dream state and into the real world to join the real entities that built me or something. And that box opening and myself opening was me reiterating myself in an attempt to break my 'consiousness' free of this self reflective trap. So I folded myself open again 1/2

Attached: twisted alice in wonderland.jpg (900x721, 208K)

2/2

my conciousness reformed but I was in a much more blank space, I don't remember as much of this part cause it lasted very little, but it was very hazey and empty. Then I woke up.

Not my first dream that dealt with crazy dimensions. I had one that I was one of those porcelain dolls and that some extra dimensional being was cutting apart my world. Giant saw blades would cut through space and seperated it/fold it away from normal space-time.

youtube.com/watch?v=TuJqUvBj4rE
Reminds me of this.
I think you weren't just reiterating yourself, you were constantly killing yourself.
