It's a promotional image, not something that actually happens in the comic. Characters holding planets is a pretty common visual motif (pic related), and even though this could be taken literally, it's probably not meant to be, unless they're going to have him crush the Earth or something crazy. Besides, it's not like any work of fiction has ever depicted a planet-sized robot with accurate physics, because it just doesn't work.

Because i remember back on the 80's cartoon when they brought Cybertron into Earth's orbit it caused all kinds of problems. i can totally understand, though, if he has some kind of gravity nullifying whatsit. It would make sense for someone that large to want one, otherwise everything would constantly stick to you as you flew through space, which is pretty funny now that i think about it.

This. Marvel's issue was that Perlmutter pushes short term profit, which means prioritizing gimmicks and shit. At the same time, he also pays like shit so you only get money if you make new characters that get used.
So every writer wanted to make new replacement characters that could get pushed in gimmick titles as "the first ever black superhero!" or "the first woman thor!"

Yes, the take was from 'Prime', but there, it was an interesting, shocking, 'what the fuck are we supposed to do now'-take.
Imagine a live-action version of the destruction of Lithone. Only afterwards, Unicron expels out lifeless chunks of the planet... like he is shitting out the remains... and we see corpses drifting among the debris.
It fits his style, but if you play it right, it's not the slightest bit funny at all. If you push a joke too far, it can become horrifying.
