You'd think with how the main characters dad is obsessed with his wall being built they'd be making Donald Trump comparisons

>WE NEED TO BUILD A WALL AND MAKE THE MONGULS PAY FOR IT

Only one post in and people already try to shove politics into the thread

First off that's tasteless as shit.
Second off the movie came out 7 years before the 2016 presidential elections you mong.
Third off, what fucking Mongols in Ireland you absolute ninny? You daft twat? Fookin' 'ell ain't got a head on ya shoulders?

You don’t want to back that metaphor considering the Vikings did rape and pillage their land into the ground.

Sorry. Ireland is too busy bowing to Mecca with The Bread Winner to make any more movies about their own culture.

>literally making an Irish mythology film THIS YEAR

Also Nora Twomey co-directed The Secret of Kells so don't go blaming her for "ruining" Cartoon Saloon with The Breadwinner's """"SJW propaganda.""""

Robin's going to be English, right? None of the trailers make mention of where she's from but does imply she's not native to Ireland, and just going off her general appearance, name, and fact she speaks English it's safe to assume she's from England. I think it's an interesting choice and does give Moore the ability to present classic Irish tradition and folklore from the point of view of an outsider, I'm actually quite excited to see how he utilizes this.

Bump
I just want to give this thread one last chance

>MONGULS

This is a Politics-Free zone. Now piss off.

Secret of Kells or Song of the Sea?

Song of the Sea
Don't get me wrong, I loved Kells and visually it was beautiful, but it really did feel like Moore learning his footing.
SotS seems far more refined and tells a better story, the visuals weren't as amazing in my own personal opinion but everything else worked a lot better.
Aisling is best girl though

I love both. The fight against crom was amazing and the jars...

Wolf walkers has some really nice porn

Won't let die a thread with potential.

First off, enjoy the (you)s you dickweed.

Still somewhat dissapointed there wasn't more 'connection' between Brendan and Aisling. I mean, just a little. More romance. A connection. But that's my inherent shippingtude trying to ruin something beautiful. The movie was astounding.

I have no idea what the movie is about and this is the first time i'm hearing it. But she's cute.

fuck off pol

I like Kells more. First, the choice of visual style is meaningful, it is the style of the actual book of Kells. This, and the fact that it is about a real book, already makes it great, SotS just doesn't have that cultural connection. Then, it is a solid story, though the characters feel a bit less human and everything is more archetypal, but it fits the style and story very well, it feels more mythological. Like, I would recommend SotS to a person interested in folklore or in animation, or someone who likes that sort of stories, but I'd recommend Kells to anyone.

I don’t know how Bread Winner was sjw propaganda, it seemed to highlight the worst aspects of Muslim culture when left to their own accords.

Is anyone else disappointed that in the end the wall was completely undefended? I mean what was the purpose of The Wall if there were absolutely no warriors willing to defend the wall? What he thought the walls were going to defend themselves? I wonder what the original script was like.

Also I genuinely thought that Brendan and Aisling were going to win by luring all the vikings into the God Crom area and have them eaten. Just an idea.

I always remember Crom from the Conan series, felt weird to me that they used Vikings instead of barbarians, of course I know jack all of Irish history.

Sometimes I have fun thinking of Conan crossing over to the SoK universe, meeting Aisling and their Crom.

Idiot.

What other barbarians do you think could raid Ireland in the Middle Ages?

>I have no idea what the movie is about
Basically, a foreign (most likely English) girl comes to Ireland to hunt wolves but a feral girl convinces her that wolf knots are the hottest shit while Oliver Cromwell smashes in Catholic skulls with an oversized bible.

I love Kells, but Song of the Sea is such an amazing movie it's no comparison.

When is it coming out?

Hopefully never. Cartoon saloon has fallen.

Song of the sea both were pretty to look at but at least it had a plot.

I'm probably going to get flack for saying this, but Breadwinner is Cartoon Saloon's best movie imo. From a purely narrative perspective at least, it has the tightest and most focused story of the bunch and tackles a lot of really tough themes/subject matter with ease. It actually made me give a shit about and relate to these characters from a completely alien culture, highlighting both the good and not shying away from the bad to make them and their struggles feel more real. I give it a lot of credit for that.

I will say that Song of the Sea is a far prettier film however, though that 100% intention what with it's more grounded tone and less fantastical premise.

That being said, Breadwinner was an adaptation of a novel as opposed to an original story so that might have had something to do with it. Quality is quality though.
