Steven Universe's apex was Jail Break. Prove me wrong

my favorite part was the arc where peridot integrates into the group. It was just very comfy.

I can name like 10 episodes better than jailbreak and here they are in no particular order

1. Maximum Capacity
2. Roses Scabbard
3. Mr Greg
4. The Return
5. We Need to Talk
6. The Message
7. Mirror Gem
8. Cat Fingers
9. Frybo
10. Mindful Education

>Mindful Education
tbqh this one is one of the most overrated in the entire series
yawn-inspiring song and more development of garnet as only an extension of ruby and sapphire instead of her own character, I guess the hallucinations were kind of cool but that was about it

Had a Trigger animator doing fight scenes that were waaaaay above the usual stuff on SU.

Replace that with Keeping it Together then.

I actually haven't watched it past this episode. What went wrong?

I think OP meant when the show as a whole had most potential rather than that episode in particular being the best one.

Remember that time Jasper could've shaped up to be an actually intimidating antagonist, possibly the brawn to Peridot's brains as they tried to get off the planet?

Remember when the show actually had a schedule? Remember when the entire thing hadn't been fucked over by countless different agendas, ideas, and a complete lack of anything resembling oversight, coherency, or a unified idea?

THE VOLTRON EPISODE

and why does your opinion matter at all?

The only thing I gave a rat's ass about in regards to Jasper was all the muscle girl porn of her.

Such a wasted design .

See, Mindful Education is one of the best written, most beautiful episodes of the show in my opinion. Not only does it progress the growth of characters, but it's probably the most earnest and real depiction/discussion on anxiety and self forgiveness I have seen on TV. I'd take it over any filler we have had ever any day. Every person I have shown clips of it to has appreciated the music/style enough to want to start watching the show.

And yeah, Takafumi Hori's animation was fantastic too. Definitely one of my top non-plot episodes.

It was shit. People only liked it for the song. And that was shit too.
>Maximum Capacity
Garbage episode where nothing anyone did made any sense and kills any chance of liking one of the main character
>Roses Scabbard
This is the Maximum Capacity of Pearl Episodes
>Mr Greg
This episode was completely pointless, this is the Jail Break of Pearl Episodes.
>The Return
Why? I mean, what possessed you to write this?
>Mirror Gem
I could see why someone would think this is a good episode. But I hate it because it taunts me with the fact hat the show could have just ended here and it would have been an amazing finale and the show would have been entirely good rather than only half a season good.

>Muh gay scissoring song

No. Ocean Gem will always be the peak

None of those are real criticisms.

Apex implies that episodes that came before it were a part of the ascent. Especially the fucking Message/Return, I mean come on.

Mr. Greg was shit, We Need to Talk and Mindful Education were good.

>Mr. Greg
>Complete Shit
I really hope you feel bad about how bad your taste is.

Mindful education sucks because garnet, connie and steven are boring fucking characters

And none of those are better than Jail Break

>>Mr Greg
>This episode was completely pointless
>The long-running grudge Pearl had towards Greg is finally resolved.
Pls tell me this is bait

>grudge that didn't matter and is "solved" like 3 other times in the series
I guess it's "super duper for realz" this time even though nothing actually happened to make them come to this realization besides having a song and some money.

Also, who the fuck cares if their grudge is solved? It wasn't an interesting "resolution" in any sense of the word, the episode literally cannot stand on it's own and completely relies on some investment in their conflict, but the show has done nothing to create that investment, because Greg is only useful through plot contrivances and there is no value to him having or not having a good relationship with Pearl.

The Return is definitely better than Jailbreak, just because it capitalized so well on all the buildup of the threat of homeworld's arrival.

>and more development of garnet as only an extension of ruby and sapphire instead of her own character
Thank fuck we got Pool Hopping

They had all that space on that space ship, and yet they only sent two gems. It won't ever make sense to me why they make the Diamonds so uselessly incompetent and stupid.

From my personal experience of only watching the show when my friends made me, Jail Break was the start of a plateau, with the other side being the bomb that included The Zoo. Everything before Jail Break didn't cause much a stir in the online communities, but that set things ablaze. Everything after The Zoo seemed to be downhill. I saw fewer and fewer people posting about the shower, and I was made to watch it less and less.

That's not Mirror Gem/Ocean Gem.

I agree with you there. The only episode or arc I feel could rival it was the Homeworld arc where Steven went to homeworld. I liked that because I got to see new gems, homeworld, new intimidating characters and the trial. The only reason I would say it that these episodes weren't better than this would be because of how easily Steven gets back to earthand because of how there were almost no repercussions for Lars getting blown up aside from the fact that he's a zombie now. Meanwhile this episode had a nice buildup and delivery; we saw a new intimidating figure which were homeworld gems, the good guys lost but then they came back stronger, there was a fight and the ending felt nice.

Im starting to think steven universe doesnt even want decent fights.

I don't know if I'd call it the "Apex" of the series, but I am my mom was hype as shit.

But it's the truth user. I can't fight the truth.

The Return and Jailbreak are both the high point of the show. It's to SU what Not What He Seems is to Gravity Falls.

As long as stuff like the Zoo and the jungle moon keeps coming I don't think its reached it "apex" yet. Don't be so dramatic.

It reached the apex at least for coherent story and plot development. Having 20 townie episode and maybe one or two devoted to the Homeworld storyline doesn't help.

Season one's entire buildup to Steven finding out that the Crystal Gems are aliens, and that his mom lead a war against their alien race in The Return and Jailbreak was amazing, and the way the show unexpectedly turned into a sci-fi with heavy lore and action was promising. Jasper was threatening and Homeworld seemed scary because we didn't know that the writers were going to give Steven impenetrable plot armor and end up making all the antagonists such dismissive jobbers at that point of time.

Although there are some season 2 and 3 episodes I like better, this was the point of maximum hype.
