People give DEEN Stay Night too little credit. Anything but the QUALITY animation was at least more than decent.

The route mish-mash is easily criticised now, but ten years ago Fate wasn't the saberface-selling behemoth it is now. The Fate route is easily the most dull except for the fairy tale romance, so most of the shit from UBW that got added made sense

The fate route should be considered as an intro to the fate series and it did exactly that,it hooked people in.
I personally love the Deen adaptation of the fate route and im sure without it the Fate series wouldn't be where it is now.

The only forced couple was Shirou and Saber. And I'm not even saying it's bad, I'm just saying that Saber is in every other way the exemplification of a knighthood and of her kingly responsibilities. How easily she falls for Shirou felt somewhat out of character to me. I still enjoyed it though.

Just to clarify. What I mean is that both Rin and Sakura are highschool girls with crushes for Shirou. Whereas Saber is a king and a trained soldier who's been through war and bears the responsibility of saving her lost kingdom. I just don't see that kind of character having the time for romance.
