You're right about the ears. people have speculated that Bill Hicks did get some cosmetic surgery to look a little different. I am not saying this as a fact, just a theory.

Oh shit, I thought it would be easier to find, didn't realize he went on this show so often. it was part of this episode, though I watched it live and swear I remember the interview being shorter than this. It's not really apparent he gets cut off at any point in this video, so desu it doesn't help prove what I said, but this is the episode that made me question him. I'm still not sure what to make of him completely.
