Saiyans are a naturally aggressive warrior race who were supposedly striving to be the strongest warriors in the universe.
Saiyan survives a near-death experience through extreme injury to the body, then, when the body recuperates, the Saiyan grows much stronger than they were previously, their body adapting to compensate for the damage dealt, essentially evolving their power, the more they fight.

Goku isn't evil, he just likes to fight, and he will save all universes with super dragon balls probably.
While true, it doesn't change the fact that he was the obstacle to defeat need to save so many.
Hes like a giant storm. A huge problem for everyone else but he has no real goals other than being the biggest storm he can be.
For universe 9 it's less about the universes being destroyed and more about them being ranked at the bottom.
Not to mention super saiyan is hacks.
While we've yet to find out how much stronger SSB makes you, we know that SS3 makes you 400x stronger, and SSB is more than that.
His bass form is already on the levels of high class warriors probably deserving of being in this tournament, so with SSB it's probably just absurd.
