You want to believe you have secret knowledge because it makes you feel good. It can't possibly be that God loves you and died for your sin. No no it can't be that. It has to be somethinf secret and hidden so you can feel superior and high and mighty. I know it makes you feel special that you found "the truth" that "most don't know"

And you're too busy trying to figure out what the scratches on the floor mean "ahh don't talk to me with that nonsense, I have to figure out this super secret code to find where the bread is!"
