This is Kazuo, a true badass. Say something to him.
Kengan Ashua
>a true badass
What a qt.
Would someone like to explain to me why it appears that the Vietnamese are the ones who upload the raws for this series?
I can't find any particular reason as to why that should be true, yet all of the non-volume raws seem to have that little Vietnamese watermark in the bottom right. Wouldn't they be better off uploading scanlations of the manga in their own language, like the Koreans do?
You look it this and tell me this man isn't a badass.
He makes the best faces.
Best ridiculous fighting manga.
what was that just now
What's going to happen to Nogi?
it's pretty boring compared to baki imo
Too bad the MC is boring as fuck. Might as well call his fighting style the "edgelord Gary Stu fist".
Where's a good place to get in to baki? Should I just start with the original series?
It's also not fucking ugly, unlike Baki.
Actually you can start with any series, knowing the characters is not that important.
Start with the original series, and then move over to the anime once our scanlations stop. Then, back to the manga at the end of the anime. You miss nothing that way.
Thanks, will do
I'm from VN here. Pretty sure the admins buy the raws themselves, and they upload the raws when they are available while they translate the chapters, so people can read the raws if they want for hype purpose.
Hahaha no, Kengan Ashura has surpassed Baki a long time ago, since the latter half of Son of Ogre Baki has been going downhill, Baki Dou is a fucking mess.
I expected something else from Sen
Was hoping for more, really. Guess it's up to the DEVIL SPEAR to step up for everybody.
Dramatised Kazuo panels are the best.
Baki is lacking in certain non homoerotic elements
Kazuo is crazy man. His just an bussiness men but his reflexes are better then most figthers!
DAMN RIGHT HE DOES
I heard he got 10% of a company's stocks on a bet but turned it down because it wasn't challenging enough for him.
>ashua
but it's ashura
There are people here who doesn't realize Kazuo is the strongest character in Kengan Ashua.
Holy fuck a thread
How do you think would win in a fight guys, Adam Dudley or Kiozan Takeru?
Takeu is definitely stronger, simply because he's heavier and tankier
Dudly could deliver heavy blows but Takeu will rek him
Is there anyone that can outwit him?
He said Kengan Ashura was "Best ridiculous fighting manga" I'm inclined to agree. Hell, this series knows how to tread it's side characters instead of just killing them off to show off how powerful the villain of the arc is.
I dunno, Musashi v. Motobe was one of the best fights in the series
I'm really interested in seeing what the 4 main body guard are capable off, including that special team that took care of intruders.
I really like Ohma a lot, I think he fits greatly as the main character, a guy who knows a lot about fighting and not so much about everything else
I'm more fond of Baki, but Kengan Ashua is awesome too.
Female Ashura Tournament Arc when?
>this series knows how to treat its side characters
Relegate them to commentator status and give them occasional fights at their own level? Because that's exactly what Itagaki did in Baki. Baki Dou is not all of Baki by any means; what you're reading now in Kengan Asura is basically what Itagaki did in the 90s with his own tournament arc. Mount Toba, for example, came back for like 3 separate fights after being beaten by Baki.
>instead of just killing them off to show off how powerful the villain of the arc is
One single character has died to Musashi in 180 chapters, and that wasn't done to 'job'.
Keep in mind that Kengan Asura is just budding. It has 206 chapters as of now. In Baki's 206th chapter, Katsumi finishes his first fight in the manga. It's not really reasonable to compare the two series as wholes, due to the difference in quantity and time published. I don't think that I would disagree with you that Baki Dou has been somewhat less interesting than Kengan Asura thus far. But I would disagree with you if you were to say that the first 206 chapters of Kengan Asura were better than the first 206 chapters of Grappler Baki.
Baki is pretty shit now though. All that Musashi nonsense made me put the series on hold for a bit.
So place your bets on who's going to win the entire tournament.
Am I the only one that likes how he was pretty calm and even smiled while talking to a probably bloodlusted Setsuna?
Kazuo really grew resistant to that stuff,
that's pretty cool.
You're just mad Musashi isn't a big black homo.
Word.
It's easy for physically strong people to be brave. That mother fucker is one bad ass guy for being involved.
what if by the end of the manga his faces becomes to tighten up and becomes full of life again. cause he only like in his 50's right but he looks as bad as that old man in inuyashiki.
reminder that hanayama is best boy even in other series where he doesn't exist
>17 years old
>Relegate them to commentator status and give them occasional fights at their own level?
No, give them a proper arc that ends. Itagaki has dropped enough major characters on their own development or just not given their individual arcs a resolution that I'm surprised that Motobe got a one before baki was fated for his rematch. Remember the entire arc where Retsu was taking on the boxing world? Remember Che? Remember Olivia learning ju jitsu? Neither does Itagaki.
Meanwhile each fighter in the tournament in KA has some development and the ones who are written off at least get some exposition. And going by the raws the author doesn't forsake the screen time and development of other characters to make the main character the most important person, something Itagaki is known for come the end of his respective story lines.
>One single character has died to Musashi in 180 chapters, and that wasn't done to 'job'.
A but of hyperbole on my part but Baki across all its iterations past the first really loves to bring in older characters and have them lose to the new threat to establish them and it's not just one guy that loses. Musashi is just the most recent incarnation of this.
>Kengan Asura is basically what Itagaki did in the 90s with his own tournament arc.
Which is what I cite as the only good part of Baki.
>Keep in mind that Kengan Asura is just budding.
It's built a far stronger foundation and done better with its characters and story than Baki at this point. I like both for different reasons but Baki is not the better of the two even just comparing the first part to KA
>first appear like a irrelelvant character with short introduction
>beat the shit out of the hyped ones
At this rate there’s even a small chance he beat the MC
Kengan ashura is so shit, literally copy of Baki
I'd say its larger than small. I wouldn't be surprised if Gensai won the whole tournament.
What
Seriously?
You may not like it, but this is what the most powerful organism in Africa looks like.
yet here you are instead of a baki thread
I've only started reading this.
At least the characters don't all look like deformed golems of meat.
It’s more like Shura no Mon than Baki
Kazuo IS the Kengan Ashura
Kazuo is the best.
Third round is over now. I'm glad that old man took out Sasuke but I'm sad Sen lost to Fang after all foreshadowing how his style is similar to Niko. Oh well. Now looks like there will be an interruption with Setsuna, and then back to semifinals.
Ohma vs Fang finals look predictable at this point.
No he doesn't, he actually looks like a believable 50 year old, worn down but not ancient.
Take that back, Oliva is no homo!
Motobe was godtier in Dou, but the rest is subpar.
Both are jobber tier
>No he doesn't, he actually looks like a believable 50 year old, worn down but not ancient.
no he doesn't, he looks 70, while his hair is believable not his facial features.
Che's thing was that he was ultimately a national leader before he was a fighter. That was the whole point of him going back to the island and sending them an invitation rather than staying in prison.
Retsu finished the boxing arc, it was just off-screened. He beat Usain Bolt and then went back to his normal life.
Oliva was never set to learn juujutsu. The point of that single scene was to show that Oliva did not have any knowledge of martial technique, and could be beaten by someone physically weaker than him if they had enough technical skill. The idea of Oliva is that he relies on the size of his muscles for everything. That is why he loses to Yuujiro, and that is why we were shown him losing to Shibukawa.
If he beats fang I am calling his victory. Dude has beaten the rival and sasuke. >sending them an invitation
Which was never followed up on despite the cliffhanger. There in even the excuse that he didn't want to continue the fight because his invitation states a rematch is included.
>it was just off-screened.
Which was a problem when we spent the better part of that entire series showing his climb through the boxing World. Why would you off screen the biggest fight?
>idea of Oliva is that he relies on the size of his muscles for everything. That is why he loses to Yuujiro, and that is why we were shown him losing to Shibukawa.
He then wins the Chinese tournament on Shear strength alone negating that entire point of the character.
Do you see my point?
To be fair his life situation prior to the start of the manga seemed like something that would age the fuck out of a man.
So many posts and none of you said a single thing to Kazuo Yamashita.
>There isn't even the excuse that he didn't want to continue the fight because his invitation states a rematch is included
That didn't happen. Nothing of the sort is in the text.
>Why would you off screen the biggest fight?
Doesn't matter to your original point.
>He then wins the Chinese tournament on sheer strength alone negating that entire point of the character.
Oliva didn't win the Chinese tournament. Yuujiro did. And that doesn't 'negate' anything or anyone; Shibukawa beat Oliva in a fair fight by using aikido. Oliva never learns how to fight against someone like that.
I'm surprised she's still betting.
>That didn't happen.
I remember the english translation being "I'll be waiting on my island". If I'm wrong I'm wrong on the wording, but the invitation still stands as a loose end for a character that made up the early parts of that specific series.
>Doesn't matter to your original point.
Yes it does. My point is that KA knows how to treat it's side cast, part of this is letting them get their time to shine without undermining them to shove the MC back in the spotlight. That's 100% my point when you have a chartacter have this major arc and then drop it right before his title match against a real life figure who isn't known for boxing in the first place.
>Oliva didn't win the Chinese tournament
He won his fight by just slamming his opponent after jerking around trying to imitate his opponents technique. Which Yuujiro then chided him on.
>Shibukawa beat Oliva in a fair fight by using aikido. Oliva never learns how to fight against someone like that.
Yes, which is baffling since they show Olivia in a Gi learning under Shibukawa because he got beat and also had trouble with whichever convict he fought. Then we forget about Biscuit for the rest of that arc and his next fight he's back to just brute force which means the entire "biscuit learning that brawn isn't everything since this old man just dropped him" went nowhere.
Again, Are you seeing my point or not? Without going into blatant spoilers any fighter who is prominent in KA gets ample time to develop and a full arc for the ones who have dropped out. With one exception and I'm still mad that Mockey jobbed like a fucking bitch.
>He won his fight
That's not winning the tournament.
>the entire "biscuit learning that brawn isn't everything since this old man just dropped him" went nowhere
Yuujiro drops Oliva later with (what seems to be) technique, as well.
I understand your point, and I don't necessarily disagree with you, but your claims about Baki aren't/weren't accurate. That's what I'm taking issue with.
>That's not winning the tournament.
Ok, the wording was wrong
> but your claims about Baki aren't/weren't accurate. That's what I'm taking issue with.
Two instances and that's it. One was about Musashi killing a bunch of people and the second was biscuit winning his match. You'll forgive me if I use a bit of hyperbole from time to time but with the corrected wording on those two points you still agree.
Now with that in mind what makes Baki better than KA to you?
>what makes Baki better than KA to you?
I like it better. It's more interesting to me. It doesn't have to rely on gratuitous female sex appeal to stay in the public eye.
Not that user, but Baki's females are cheerleaders with nothing to add. It's just as offensive as Kengan, plus the moment you said gratuitous female sex appeal, I have to disagree. Things like this in Kengan is what got me laughing, looking and staying.
>I like it better. It's more interesting to me.
You just quizzed me for a few hours on my points, I'd like an answer a bit more substantial than it has less female fan service (and trust me I've seen the sex scene in Baki, I'm thankful that Itagaki is allergic to drawing lewd anything.)
Also KA doesn't rely on female sex appeal so I don't see your point if you were comparing that aspect between the two series.
>KA doesn't rely on female sex appeal
You can't beat someone with no blind spots
>Obligatory hot spring episode
>representative of the entire series
Try a bit harder than that. Unless your argument is that KA has fanservice which nobody is denying. Just that it's main appeal isn't and hasn't been fanservice. It's the strawberry on top of the well choreographed and written cake with a thick and creamy artistic frosting.
>tfw I was hyped for this fucker
Not that user, but the way you originally phrased the claim, you make it sound as if Kengan Ashua only relied on that to get that much attention and people staying. If so, then you are dead wrong. I am a reader and I ended up staying for eye-gouging tactics, biting, and bearded man.
anyone wanna spoil me on this guys fight?
No, it's better to witness the glory for yourself
not even if i say please?
It's mentioned in his match that he's supposedly one of the stronger fighters, It's just that Rei never had a Kengan match before so noone knew how his assassination arts worked, the Thai guy can defend against it because he knows it's coming/has a super hard skeleton and Kuroki knows how because he's fought against Rei's father before.
I wish I had a sharkteethfu
she's a softy at heart
Rei one shots him
Since Sen is out, what's going to happen to Nogi Group? What would happen if Yamashita Trading Co. ends up being the winner of the tournament?
It's assumed that Kazuo will be asked to nominate Nogi since winning the tournament only nets you the right to nominate.
Let's not pretend Kazuo won't end up the chairman anyway because everyone else nominates him.
Hello! How are you?
I feel like most of the fun of Baki is seeing how much of an incredibly petty dick Yuujiro is.
No I mean the winner gets to nominate the next chairman. Kazuo can still "accidentally" nominate himself because we all know how much of a maverick he is but honestly I'm looking forward to the next couple of chapters because Nogi has had a hard face the entire series and now that he's lost his best shot at the title I feel like he's going to crumble.
So winning doesn't matter as long as there will be opposition. Nominations aren't always guaranteed seats.
Winning the tournament doesn't guarentee that the winner will take the chairman position is all. Part of the setup has been that at least two groups have multiple fighters in the tournament (Nogi has 2, The electric company has at least 5). That ways if their main fighter doesn't make it they still have a shot at victory by having their affiliate vote for them instead.
Could Ohma beat Tanba Bunshichi?
At first I thought the old man is the mc but turns out he has plot device but I find it okay. For some reason he is more entertaining than some other shounen mc.
I don't remember him - which Baki series is he from?
Not from Baki. He's from Garouden, a manga the Baki guy did between Baki series. its very good.
Man Itagaki's art looked nice here
What the hell happened?
Oh! My apologies, I've never read it. What sorts of things can he do?
I feel like Itagaki's a very successful artist. Baki's just a series about people who have, through training and their exceptional lifestyles, transcended norms that we take for granted. Their appearances are grotesque and built entirely on the heedless abrogation of human limitations, and I love it for that!
Truly Kuroki is the best.
No doujins yet? Why? Lots of cute girls here to choose from
>Decided to say fuck it and just read ahead of the translations
>This motherfucker is dropping fools left and right
>He even bitched Sasuke and Kiryu
>Starting to think he might actually beat Fang
What the hell is this guy? Can he be stopped?
>block a bullet with pure instinct
Fucking crazy
He has no blind spots.
Does anyone know where I can find up to date chapters?
