first of all, this :it's pretty well documented Kraftwerk's influence on black American electronic music
second, Jazz was "invented" by a mulatto class in New Orleans that doesn't really exist as it once did b/c of the Civil War and the civil rights movement effectively divided everyone into "black or white." This slave owning, brown class were mixed but had European traditions which included educating their kids in European parlor music. Effectively combining a group educated in European music theory with afro poly-rhythms and some afro "grace" notes that don't exist in European music that they were hearing from slaves and street musicians.
