Now just change the fact, that everyone knows that he came from outer space with a vastly overpowered technology. And he is just one random who speaks of a ultimatum. Of course nobody would follow his ultimatum and the earth would be destroyed. This is basically what happened in overlord, with the difference that the protagonist enjoyed the planned massacre.
