I could load up GTA V right now and have a fun 45 minutes or so just dicking around driving a supercar through the desert and off cliffs. Whereas if I loaded up IV all I'd be able to do is drive around the same grey streets over and over or shoot up the hospital.
The fuck-around factor is ultimately what makes GTA good or not, and GTA IV failed utterly as a fuck-around sandbox.

I went back and played gtaiv the other day and it is genuinely awful. It has aged like cum. U dont realise how much of an improvement V was in every way. Not just the graphics and the driving but in everything. The shooting, the camera controls, the on foot stuff is just all way smoother in V. The animations in IV are fucking terrible too. Like I can't believe it's actually a rockstar game. They must be ashamed of it now

the one redeeming quality of gtaiv is the solid recreation of new york city but even that looks terrible because of the stupid blue and orange tint and the ugly ass oil painting graphics. fucking teŕrible. what were they thinking. They spent 100m making this shit..and let's not forget, for no explicable reason, there were no parachutes in the base game. what the fuck were they smoking at rockstar headquarters in 2007?
