What am I in for?

What am I in for?

Offices. So boring.

You know how everyone loves Dark Messiah for it's kicking and physics?

It's like that except with guns, bullet-time, and gratuitous amounts of gore.

So, fun.

Fantastic shooting and kung fu wrapped up in some of the most repetitive map design/environments ever

For the realization how lazy devs are now. And some good spooky fun

In my opinion one of the best if not the best FPS ever. Ignore shitposters.

Good ai
good gunplay
good spooks
crank up the difficulty a bit, its way more fun that way
expansion is great, 2 is acceptable if you still want more
never touch 3

This. F.E.A.R. is by far my favorite FPS ever made. It's sad that the layer games don't hold a candle to it though. I had to play them for the story. I should've just quit after the F.E.A.R. expansions.

State of the art AI, which is just sad.
Fun shooting in repetitive environments.

Also, some j-style horror.

>"best FPS ever"
>ctrl+v environments

its almost as if map design is an important part of games

A gory, solid FPS with fun gimmicks and surprisingly decent enemy AI, unhindered by console niggers, that gets a tad repetitive.

So basically like Dead Space then in terms of sequels?

spooky ghosts

Boring as fuck until you get out of water treatment.

Awful, dated horror mixed with fantastic gunplay

Except that 2 is the best DS

This game is actually kinda boring, but you'll be so paranoid you won't even notice i- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!

8/10

No.

Dead Space 2 was actually good.

FEAR 2 trades shit gameplay for slightly better horror.

A corridor FPS with bullet-time and a boring story.

This game seriously has some of the best active enemy AI I've ever seen

Replica forces will actively lob grenades at you, take cover, flank you, suppress you, run from you and regroup

How the fuck isn't this shit the norm?!

>for slightly better horror
Nope. The horror was worse, too, because it was shoved too much in your face.

>Awesome AI
>Alma chan
>Nice gunfights
>good gun "feelings"/recoil
>nice spooky moments
I'd suggest you buy (or torrent) the Extraction Point add on. A bit short, but I must say it scared the shit out of me the first time I played it. Don't bother with the Perseus Mandate add on tho, it's complete garbage.

I playing on the hardest difficulty
am i fucked

Framedrops due to logitech HID.

fuck you, those were my favourite part of the game

Great lighting,
great atmosphere
amazing gunsounds,
Amazing distorted agonizing screams
The spooks don't get to me anymore but then again i played that shit way too often

Play it on the hardest difficulty without slo-mo

The expansions are quite great too, except that i think it was perseus mandate that takes a while to get up to speed.

If you're good at FPS, not necessarily. The game is doable on any difficulty. Keep your eyes open, investigate carefully, you'll need those health packs and boosters.

>yfw Alma rapes you in the sequel

>2 Threads about FEAR
>Just started playing FEAR 1 yesterday

Spooky...

Yeah i just mentioned it on /vr/ as a recommendation for someone.
I already replayed the first one sort of recently. But maybe i should play the expansions again soon.

Period blood

Not too bad, but damn it'll be fucked

Extremly blant game with a good engine, pcucks still praise it today.

It has a good engine but it doesn't change the fact that the game is overall extremly boring. But guess what the average PC user plays for the graphics not for the gameplay so enjoy your diashow.

Fucking scary-ass sound design, jesus. Play with headphones and I swear the ambient music will get to you

my favorite fps ever and tied for favorite game ever. only downside is there's no difficulty quite hard enough.

>But guess what the average PC user plays for the graphics not for the gameplay so enjoy
>game is more than 10 years old
>still beats consoles

Yeah you are right, graphics is the only reason why people play FEAR. Not the gunplay, atmosphere or AI. It's those 10 year old graphics.

another proof that Sonyggers are mostly underage

one of the more overrated meme shooters out there

>kicking the shit out of everyone
>all the guns and grenades feel fantastic
>enemy ai adds a whole new layer of fun as they flank you and drag you out
>boring

a meme game that has aged like milk

extremely repetitive action

>Shooting a grenade in air while in slow motion

6/10 baito.

>>boring
Yes the game is, in fact, boring. Literally COD with bullet time, as if that mechanic didn't get old after the first Max Payne was released. The shitty offices and hilariously bad horror only add insult to injury. PCfats still play this game because it's the only thing that can run on mommy's PC.

I like FEAR for having handguns that remain a valuable option for like half of the game.

As someone who beat the first two CoDs recently I can assure you FEAR is not "CoD with bullet time".

But im no Sonygger , the is is still blatant boring

Congratulations, you successfully proved that you don't like thing

>ADS
>weapon limit
>hitscan weapons
>lean mechanic and unavoidable damage incentivises cover usage
>"cinematic" interactive story sections and set pieces
>generic military squadmates
Yep, it's CoD alright

Don't you have an uncharted thread in Sup Forums to shitpost in?

nigga did you even play FEAR

You uh
You have no played FEAR, have you.

Well don't you look silly now

>y-you haven't played it!!
Is there a more pathetic defense than this?

A fun fucking time

Just play the game instead of asking

I dunno, I'm quite sure FEAR doesn't have ADS.
Your "squadmates" also die at first enemy contact, or earlier.

So, that's two complaints that are simple not a thing. Objectively wrong. I sorta have to ask at that point.

shooting jackie chan terror of drugs action rpg

It's not the best shooter ever but name 3 better ones in the last few years

It literally does have ADS dumbass. You press a button and your weapon becomes more accurate, you movement is slowed and vision is obscured. Why don't YOU try playing the game you're defending so hard?

Which level had that secret area with the little office blaring animu music?

playing F.E.A.R for the first time, enemies come at me, shoot at them, take cover, stand up, noone is there, everywhere is empty, go out of my cover, hear a grenade, they flank me from the left, dead.

last shooter I played that stayed in my mind

>55 minutes

>You press a button and your weapon becomes more accurate, you movement is slowed and vision is obscured.
That's an aiming mode.
It doesn't equal aiming down sights.
Ironsight mode is ADS.

>blaring animu music
Look at this fag and laugh.

I thing it was the later lab levels right before you enter that huge facility where injured fatty lies.

Not him, but I rarely used ADS in FEAR at all, most of the fights are in pretty small spaces so there's never much need.

Yeah it's functionally the same as ADS, pedantic autist
>b-but iron sight!!
Shut the fuck up

probably bait but it's a valid defense when the person hasn't actually played it.

God the multiplayer for this game was amazing. I wish we had a current game that was similar so fucking tight.

Fuck off
That's because you're a retard who enjoy being shot by hitscan weapons

Oh I see now, I never made the connection because I haven't played Shogo. Thanks for the source lad

It's a completely different design philosophy.

Also, you complain about cover and lean. Does CoD even have lean? Don't think it does.

Pretty sure your complaint boils down to "It's not a classic arena shooter". In other words, "I don't like thing".

Calm down there buddy

>It's a completely different design philosophy.
It does exactly the same thing as ADS

>Also, you complain about cover and lean.
Both games incentivise cover was the point, sorry you didn't get that

>but I like thing so it good!
Fuck off

Fuck off

>but I like thing so it good!
I didn't even say anything about quality.
We're talking about similarity to call of duty. Which there isn't a whole lot of. It's a not particulary realistic military shooter. That's about it.

A fantastic shooter.

A terrible horror game.

>lean mechanic and unavoidable damage incentivises cover usage

the reason why i stated i liked the smaller office spaces so much
was that you played and flowed through them run and gun.

In the larger subway levels you had to change up the pace to more deliberate shooting.

Personally i like both playstyles.

The only downside of the game i didn't mention was that the movement speed felt a little sluggish after playing a lot of quakelive. Compared the other current shooters it isn't that bad.

Why are you so angry
This, the horror is fucking dumb, especially on subsequent playthroughs, all those slow walks through a hospital corridor then hearing a scream oOooOOOooOOoooOOhhHhH so spooky right

Ignore the angry NEET autist crying about ADS. It's a damn fun game and the spooks make for a great time. Headphones and hard mode and you'll enjoy it/hate it for scaring you.

It's got some good spooks where you really don't expect them, but of course they wear off when you know they're coming.

Worst is getting on a ladder, with the usual turn around animation, and then suddenly alma directly fucking behind you.

A damn good game. Made offices ridiculously fun to explore.

I guess I'm a pussy cause that shit always scared me.

That one was booky the first time but I don't even register it now.

I was actually just playing that bit today, just slid down the ladder like nothing happened.

But I gotta say, spook aside, I really like the way they tied it into the story.

Story, sure, but not gameplay. There are like, two instances of spook enemies in the game at all before the very end.

Sadly, the story means they had to leave it out of the gameplay, or the story parts no longer make sense.
