The monsters are more bullshit to make up for your abilities though.

You don't have to wear stupid outift to look attractive. Ciel and Kanon don't wear stupid outfit, but they are far more attractive than Alisa ever was.

I suppose making a single expensive weapon for each person costs less than making many different special clothes for the people that own the bases. Money is kind of a limited thing and the ones that have it have more power over the poor.
Still, according to both game and anime, people kind of only block weaker hits with their weapon and shields since they break easily(in cutscenes of course) and dodging is preferrable.
If the Aragami started eating as a game mechanic i don't think it would be possible to defeat them unless someone kept dodging everything.
