It is a fun game with a unique combat system. Also it's about 30 hours long, so it is not too bad for an rpg.

Get either the PC or PS4 version depending on which you like to use more.
Valkyria Chronicles 2 is okay and tries to change up some stuff and rebalance but it really messed up the tone of the first. Currently on sale for $5 on PSN for PSP, but if you have a Vita you need a PS3 to transfer it over due to stupid licensing issues.
Valkyria Chronicles 3 is fantasitic. There's a fan patch for English that you can use to play it on PSP or play it on a PSP emulator.

Yes. VC is a great game (singular).

On the off chance that they do a VC3 Remasterd, and localize it, that one is supposed to be pretty good. Do not bother with 2 unless you're going to skip all dialogue and cutscenes and don't mind the shitty graphics.

And I wouldn't bother with the upcoming Valkyria Azure, or whatever it's called.

VC1 is pretty fucking good, VC2 and 3 are terrible.

I bet you only played VC1 and listened to Sup Forums about VC2 and 3.

VC2 IS terrible. The gameplay is good, and the new unit types are fun, but the maps are way smaller and repetitive, and of course the game looks like utter crap compared to VC1. But it's the change from a war story with anime elements into a High School Harem Adventures story (with a little war on the side).

I haven't played VC3. Though I still don't like that it's on PSP instead of being the proper console sequel I've wanted since beating the original VC.
