ITT: games you want to be good but you know they won't be

why can't Nintendo make good games anymore?

>why can't Nintendo make good games anymore?
But they do. They always made good and bad games. Now and in the past. No developer is perfect.

Boy, I do love cherry picking!

>metacritic
love this 2012 meme

It's not even really cherrypicking, that's most of their big budget, main series games.

The shit games tend to be garbage like Mario Golf, Mario goes grocery shopping, Mario drops the kids off at the pool etc...

The only real somewhat recent disappointment for me as far as their big budget games would have to be Skyward Sword. I always look forward to Zelda and that game was just bad.

>Warioland
>bad

Nigger that game was great. I bet you think Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games are bad.

Cherrypicking works in both ways, breh. That's the point I'm making. Nintendo always made both good and bad games. "Neo Nintendo" is a myth.

Most of the games above are shovelware.
PM used to be one of the best Nintendo series, same as metroid.
It's really sad seeing people trying to justify this decline posting Yoshi spinoffs and Mario party.

Wario World =/= Wario Land

No Man's Sky

I really wish they would stop with all the shitty spinoffs and focus on either making new IP's or making their existing IP's better.

There's a few exceptions obviously like Mario Kart, Paper Mario (if they don't fuck it up), stuff like that. I guess they're hoping that they'll somehow make the next Mario Kart with a successful spinoff but fuck man, it's way too excessive.

fuck you the gba mario golf was the shit.
the 3ds one based off the demo is alright as well

>cherry picking
>metacritic
can't tell if falseflagger or a complete retard.

Boy, I do love when people use cherry picking wrong!

Splatoon and Super Mario Galaxy are the only two "great" games to come out of EAD in the last decade or so

Nintendo's strength these days mostly lies in their acquired studios. Monolith, Retro, Good-Feel, Sakurai's Team, Platinum

And even some of those studios are starting to tank. Look at Intelligent Systems

It's almost like people don't know how the original picture was. I guess it's cherry picking only when someone doesn't like it.

>cherry picking
>suppressing evidence, or the fallacy of incomplete evidence is the act of pointing to individual cases or data that seem to confirm a particular position

What did you think it meant?

3D world and MK8 were good though, nice memeing though

>metacritic is bad and unreliable
>when nintenfags and even Nintendo themselves have been circlejerking over their green scores on MC

This is a fucking travesty

Pikmin 3 too.

>nice memeing though
Do you feel invalidated by my opinions? You really shouldn't

MK8 was a really solid sequel, I'll give you that. But it was still just following the template set out by MKDS

MK8 was good, 3DW was the definition of mediocre and forgettable.

>Metroid is shit now
>Star Fox is shit now
>Paper Mario is shit now
>Fire Emblem is shit now
>F-Zero doesn't exist now

That said, there are still some franchises going strong. And Splatoon is one of the better new IPs I've played recently.

>Mario golf is shit

The metroid game isn't even out, Star Fox was decent and Fire Emblem is the exact same that it always was. The only doferance is that now the people with actual tastes don't have an advance wars or final fantasy tactics game to play instead like when the first several FE games came out

>Fire Emblem is the exact same that it always was
nigger come the fuck on

POR and FEA were completely different games.

So were PoR and SS.

The 3DS one was good too, yeah. Didn't have an RPG mode but had as many holes as the Gamecube game. There were also a lot of options for making rooms or tournaments online.
The only downside to the game was the official online tournaments letting players try as many times as they wanted. Every tournament had some autist with a perfect score because the wind and weather conditions were always the same and they could memorize every hole to perfection.

Sorry but no. Spare me the "not a real 3D Mario" bullcrap. 3D World and also 3D land are very good games, games that show the full potential of solid level design and focus on platforming rather than on shitty collectathons. The art style is simple but far from being bad. A game shouldn't need an impressive art style to be defined good. Mediocre my ass.

why should we settle for decent?

I went into SF0 with low expectations and I was still let down. The "old guard" at EAD is completely out of touch with what makes vidya enjoyeable. And its not that they're stuck with their old ways either, they've just gone off on a horrible new tangent. Why didn't Ninty just let Platinum do their thing?

They were solid games, but pretty much just the NSMB formula with a Z axis and better music. Nothing made them stand out like Galaxy

Its ok if you disagree though

the POINT of this thread was for people to shop h-pics into the cover art you retards

Oh sorry, I forgot I was on Sup Forums - "Porn dumps and eceleb dramas".

The level design is crap. Because of the multiplayer all the levels are too whide and devoid of platforming. 3DL was better in that regard.
The art style is just terrible. Seeing the game compared to MK8 should be embarassing for whoever worked on 3DW.
The game was also lacking in personality. No theme to define the setting, few new themes and levels that don't even fit the theme of the world they're in.
Then there's the recycle. Bosses recycled over and over with no shame, and secret world that are mostly made of regular levels with a gimmick added.
And don't forget one of the worst final bosses in Mario history: a scripted chase sequence that you win by hitting a block.
Pityful.
