Only on the PC version, on console it wasn't usable at all, and I said "it wasn't in online MP, only custom due to being so OP", and ce didn't have online.
Though I guess the PC version did.
In any case, the CE incarnation was almost a different weapon. It didn't fire nearly as fast, was battery, not ammo based, it wasn't as versatile, etc

I would of said the anti material rifle is my favorite gun but it's too slow and clunky for practicality, however it is fun as fuck with explosive rounds.
But, I think my favorite gun in a video game is the survivalist rifle from fallout new Vegas, it's just to fucking cool, it's not to op, or weak either, such a great gun.

AMR is pretty good because you rarely need more than one shot, more than one shot per group with explosive rounds. And you can mod it for less weight. Get some close combat lightweight gun and you're set.

That's why playing the game with that gun WITH VATS can get really boring, even if you're playing on the highest difficulty, constantly getting one shot kills removes the challenge from the game, but It is still fun to create a save and go on a killing spree in the strip with it, other than that I would say it's only use is death claws.
