Overwatch thread. (not for negativity, there are plenty of shitposting threads already available) This is a thread for people who are excited for the game.
>who in each class are you maining? >favorite character design >favorite skin >favorite map
That game is shit, I'm never going to buy it. That being said, I hope it's successful so there's more D. Va art. She makes my penis happy
Justin Nelson
>Who are you maining? I only played ~10-15 hours in the beta, but I know for a fact that I'm maining Junkrat and D.Va for those classes. I found them to be a lot of fun to play with good mobility.
>Fave design Mei's pretty swell, but Zenyatta is also awesome
>Fave skin Not sure, I like a lot of them. Torbjorn got some really nice legendaries though
Wyatt Green
Really hope I never run into you in game. Your not supposed to main heroes, your supposed to be able to play anyone to adapt to what your team needs. I bet your that guy who picks Hanzo last on attack.
Joseph Gutierrez
badrat. god i can fucking kill everything. love it. had maybe 15 hrs.
i guess I like McCree but DVA is the only character that feels original.
Almost all the skins look like shit. Reinhardt's look decent and thats it. The rest look like shitty jokes.
Ching Chong Tower. Great for knocking people off.
Josiah Price
A main in this case is a hero you will default to should you have choice.
If the team doesn't need the characters I like to play most, then I'll swap. If not, I'll default to my 'mains'
Luke Diaz
>Maining a class I'll be what/where ever you need me.
James Ramirez
What I mean is, what hero in each class will you focus on. Obviously you want to switch around to counter the enemy, but everyone will have their favorites. For example, I really enjoyed playing Reinhardt as my tank and would consider him my main tank. But I can still play Winston if the enemy is running Tracer or Genji.
Dominic Rogers
if you want to play support with how the characters are right now you basically have to play mercy
Joseph Collins
Will you be my tile flooring?
Julian Roberts
I like D.Va's junker skin. Makes it look like a mech and not something from a Korean bootleg anime.
Bentley Hill
Lucio is the broken support and will likely get a nerf.
Chase Clark
>Soldier 76, Torbjorn and Lucio >Soldier and Reinhart >the skull for Soldier, and the frog for Lucio >Illios is pretty good, and Dorado too
Carson Cox
C'mon mate you guys have two active generals in /vg/ at a time It's bad enough that I can't search for /sfg/ without six of your fucking threads popping up over there. Why you gotta keep making them here, too?
Eli Watson
I got that in open beta and don't like it at all, its so drab compared to the other ones.
best skin is Okami for hanzo though, I think everyone can agree
Joshua Lewis
Tracer Widowmaker D.Va Mercy
Juan Evans
McCree, Widowmaker, Roadhog, Mercy
Roadhog, 76 or Genji; a lot of designs in this game are awesome.
Junker D.Va, got it from a crate in the beta and played the shit out of her just to show it off.
Illios or Temple of Anubis
Here's my own custom category: >characters you don't like FUCKING WINSTON HIS GUN SUCKS HIS ULT ISN'T GREAT THE SHIELD BREAKS FAST WHAT IS THE POINT?
Lucas Hughes
its even worse that its just a blizzard tf2 or a blizzard dirty bomb without any innovation.
Ian Collins
Nah
Andrew Clark
>who are you maining? McCree, Genji, Reaper, S76, Tracer
Literally any character that can do a lot of damage and 1v1 successfully. >favorite character design I like the VA of S76, but I'm a sucker for western related shit, so McCree. >favorite skin Devil skin for Mercy. Diamond hard. >favorite map That's kind of hard to decide, but I think Dorado on Attack is great. Lots of people dont take into account that a good Tracer or Genji can do a lot of damage if they slip past the McCree/Roadhog in front of the door to take out or at least divert the people from the choke point behind the corner.
I think the game is great but I don't think I'm able to afford it on launch date.
Julian Williams
My nigga winston, hanzo, mccree, and lucio or nazi girl
Landon Young
Good for clearing points and dividing the crowd. Helps with cart pushing and is more mobile and versatile than Zarya or Reinhardt. A good Winston is able to kill three or four people on the point with an ulti. The only other really good at that would be Genji, but he is easier to kill.
Gabriel Myers
>Mains Junkrat, McCree my eteneral mains. >Favorite character design How they look, McCreeI 'm a sucker for that BAMF potg intro. How they play Tracer she's fun for being someone who dies if she gets hit once. >Favorite skin Mexican Reaper is the fucking best your opinion is wrong if you don't think so. >Map Le 5 man Honzo 1 man Widow maker attackers map. Besides that cheese start it's a good map.
Maining Genji, will switch to Hanzo and D.va if needed
John Turner
Kenyatta is pretty good too. I even had a good time with Lucio. Symmetra was the only one I found a bit useless
Daniel Hughes
>Who in each class are you maining? If you're asking this you have the wrong view of the class distinctions. Allow me to explain:
The very basic meta at this point for team builds is 2 tanks, 2 supports, and 2 wild (usually a sniper and a skirmisher/assassin). Further the picks are also determined by what's currently on the field, and what is a proper counter.
For example, if a team is fielding an effective Reinhardt and Widowmaker, making your tank setup two winston's can cause that advantage to melt in an instant.
Genji, Reaper, and Tracer all fit into the "assassin" archetype. Their job is to kill and distract from behind the enemy while the more direct fighters take the attention. They excel at killing snipers and builders, while being able to take down even tanks if they have the element of surprise.
Someone like McCree or Junkrat or Pharah would be a good example of a skirmisher, someone who excels at killing or shutting down enemies quickly and efficiently head-on.
Tank picks can get a bit complicated because all of the tanks serve different functions besides having a large pool of health. Reinhardt is the most defensive, Winston is anti-Reinhardt and both he and DVa can bully lighter units almost like assassins, and Zarya is a monster at siege warfare
Jayden Cruz
>>who in each class are you maining? That seems like a really bad way of looking at it. At the start of the beta I tried to pick 4 to do that, but after using D.va and Bastion, I realized that those classes are really really vague. Only real tank that I'd say is a tank is Reinhard.
Nathaniel Johnson
Pretty much says it all.
Jeremiah Watson
Not sure what I was expecting, but the cape really made the potg animation.
Joseph Morales
see Maybe I should have just asked "what is your favorite character from each class"
Josiah Ross
he's my Huckleberry
William Lopez
>McCree's gun doesn't change on his legendary skins
Matthew Campbell
Never been one to have a 'waifu' of some sort but I can get behind this Widowmaker shit, nigga damn
Nathan Morris
i want to "main" two characters from each category, probably McCree, Tracer, Widowmaker, Hanzo, Roadhog, D.Va, Mercy and Lucio
with a dash of Reinhart and Genji
Samuel Gray
I only really wanted to discuss that. But I don't think I'll use anybody other than D.va and Genji.
Mason Garcia
i refuse to play overwatch because...um....get this....i actually RESPECT WOMEN
Dominic Bailey
I spent most of my time trying to figure out the basic game plans for most characters
I most enjoyed: -Mei, because her survivability is ridiculous and freezing tougher opponents and headshotting with the icicle just feels so good -Zenyatta, because discord orb with headshots feels equally good and I enjoy a more offensive support role -Roadhog because hooking squishies for one-hit kills is just great
Realistically I'll probably be playing: -Winston if we have another because 2winston is 2gud -DVa because the pubbies that inevitably go Genji can't do their job -Widowmaker/Hanzo because if you have halfway good aim you can carry -McCree because he totally shuts down such a huge array of characters between fan the hammer, roll, and flashbang. Annoying tracer? Gone. DVa or Roadhog giving the team trouble? They're done. Pharah raining justice? Justice re-AGGHHH!
Hunter Peterson
i like all origin skins
Lucas Jenkins
>playing overwatch >see some enemy that's taunting or stuck in a corner >knod to him >stops taunting and immediantly tries to kill me
I miss this from tf2. People understood when you were just joshing around with them.
Ryan Harris
mei is super fun but im sure blizzard nerfs her and bastion because of complaints. that company never been good with balancing games.
Grayson Cooper
Tracer>reaper>pharah>76>bastion
All but tracer have better normal skins.
Charles James
The game will be dead in 3 months time, it's going the SFV way it's adding the actual content later. It's barebones as fuck right now and if blizzard doesn't put stuff out quick it's going flop.
Benjamin Allen
mei and bastion are never seen in competitive, if they nerf them its very troubling for the future of the game, that means they care more about the public outcry than the health of the game
Nolan Bennett
They're teasing a Mexico level with a futuristic Pyramid in an Overwatch blog post and I've also seen it in a Noire Widowmaker advertisement.
Because of this I dug around for other unreleased stuff and found this. Is it from Nepal or is there another snow map we haven't seen?
I like all of them except Reaper, the look won't match his voice at all.
Daniel Thomas
Mei has some pretty hard counters in fairly common heroes, I don't think she's gonna get nerfed any time soon.
Henry Hall
D. Va, Mercy, and Mei are my trifecta, depending on what the comp needs.
Desperately praying for D. Va buffs before release because good lord, is she shit right now.
Benjamin Jackson
>It's barebones as fuck right now
I have to disagree, I think there's a lot of fun to be had right now. I played the open beta for 30 hours and still want more. That's longer than I play most single player games.
Isn't this just the skybox on Nepal?
Adrian Thomas
Yeah, TF2 debuted with only a handful of maps and 3 game modes and it...
oh wait it's still generating shitloads of dosh for valve and steam
Cooper Fisher
please post all overwatch meme pics you have
David Sanchez
Lucio is five times the support Mercy is. Way harder to kill, way more presence in a fight, comparable healing ability, and the fucking speed boost.
I would rather Mercy and Zen be brought up to Lucio's level than see him nerfed, but something needs to be done, because Lucio is so much better than Mercy and Zen at supporting that it isn't even funny. The sheer utility he gives blows them out of the water.
If they must nerf him, removing his self heal in combat would probably be the way to go.
Owen Lewis
>D.Va >shit you gotta git gud with her mechless form, user.
D.Va excels in that her mech is completely disposable. You charge into a group from an odd angle with jets and/or defense matrix, distract and damage at close range, than back off as you die so that you can escape death after ejection.
D.Va's pistol does a ton of damage and builds a charge for another mech extremely quickly. You harass and damage from a safe distance for a few seconds while your mech recharges then get right back to suicide tactics.
Eli Thompson
>people thinking switching will actually be a viable tactic instead of just running fotm comps
Logan Allen
And it had more cosmetics in overwatch from the start and it kept it a float along with regular updates and ones every festive occasion. Which are never to far from each other, Easter Halloween Christmas ect. I don't see your point. I said if they don't start putting stuff out soon it's gonna flop, do you understand?
Carter Lopez
Solder 76x6 stronk as fuck.
Ethan Hughes
I fight plenty with her mechless form, user. Doesn't change the fact that she can't tank, and that the mech is hobbled in too many ways that make it feel really lame to use. She's also very easy prey for a number of heroes while in plugsuit form, even if you are being careful.
At the very least, they need to fix her rezzing out of the mech like yesterday, because holy fuck is that stupid.
Jackson Turner
Remember when everyone said Splatoon would flop due to 6 maps and 4 weapons on release?
Jayden Rivera
>people think switching is a tactic and isn't something shitters do when they get mad someone is beating them
Luis Edwards
(not him, but) while I agree that quantity is not as important, splatoon was a case of wiiu owners, starving for a new game and not having much choice.
Kevin Edwards
But the Wii U was a flop.
Cameron Diaz
Junkrat in a few months, game isn't worth getting at launch
Michael Bennett
And it did? Look at the playerbase now. You're really reaching when you have to uses platoon as an example. A console exclusive game for s console that rarely gets shooters.
Cameron Wilson
>isn't worth getting at launch why? it costs ~40$ at kinguin
Luis Wright
Its 40 normally too
I already played the content dry, its not worth buying or I will just burn out on the same mediocre maps/modes. Its a game with great characters stuck with shit maps/modes.
Noah Hernandez
ha, truth hurts.
Ryder Perez
because people who own Wii U's are literally incapable of having any other way of paying videogames?
David James
>shit maps/modes. objectively wrong.
wiiu owners were playing the waiting game, and now they're cuck'd by nintendo neglecting them and jumping the boat from wiiu to NX
Parker Lopez
Probably gonna main tracer, junkrat, roadhog, and zenyatta Winston is best character design Slipstream tracer is best skin
Luke Scott
>maining You should play what your team needs, that said I had the most time played with Pharah >favorite character design Zenyatta >favorite skin pic related >favorite map Temple of Anubis
Cameron Taylor
Gonna play Mercy at any given opportunity, followed by Reinhardt, followed by Soldier, followed by Torbjorn.
Ryder Collins
its $40 normally you're paying $4-5 more for a few skins right now and risking a (fairly small) chance of key being revoked which wouldn't be the first time blizzard did it for jewsites
pretty sure origins ed doesn't have a timelimit either for upgrading
Ayden Martinez
I like pharah's comfy scarf she gets
Zachary Thomas
>not picking the support that compliments the teams weakness >not picking the tank that works well with the support >not picking the defensive hero that will work well with the tank >not picking the offensive hero that can pick people off trying to mess with the defense
complimenting your team is best.
William Brown
but how do I pick 4 heroes at once
Christopher Kelly
Pick 76
Lincoln Lewis
>shit maps I wouldn't say that I haven't bothered to inspect them much >shit game modes He isn't wrong. It's payload. Fucking payload. It's literally ripped from tf2 and it's the most basic mode aswell as capturing the point, it's the most game modes possibly, they could have done a capture the flag type of game mode or just a ticket mode where the team runs out of lives, but it's literally the most barebones modes I've seen in a games release.
Jace Sanders
>Every single character is being shipped with one another, there's crossdressing, genderbending, gay, lesbians, robot love etc.
This game is the porn singularity.
Chase Barnes
Friendly reminder that Meifags are subhuman and should be treated as such.
You wouldn't believe how many images there are of Reaper in girls clothes.
Ryder Brown
payload is one of the best casual gamemodes there is, it provides pretty dynamic action no matter what whereas a linear cap objective is usually a very binary win/loss state because the defense got teamkilled once, or the defense holds that one choke for the entire game.
CTF can be tough, it might detract from the shooty mans too much as an objective, some heroes become ridiculously more powerful, etc. OW being a 6v6 format is a consideration too.
Ryder Stewart
>respecting woman
I bet you love niggers
Charles Edwards
Support is Mercy (primary) Dps is Junkrat (secondary) Everyone else is situational for me based on hero match ups and maps
Favorite design is Widowmaker Favorite skin is Pharah anubis skin Favorite maps are Hanamura and Volskaya
Aiden Wood
OW game modes are fucked because of retarded Overtime rules. KOTH is notorious for this shit. Meatgrinder bullshit.
Also the maps have way too many chokepoints most of the roster can't utilize, so its just chokepoint after chokepoint
Alexander Ross
>key being revoked I buy keys all the time at kinguin, and I have literally never had a single problem neither have any of my friends
Gavin Gonzalez
You will literally sugar coat shit if you had to eat it friend. It's TWO game modes for 40$ game. That isn't right and it's not justifyable regardless of what you say. Your opinion is biased because you're buying the game but from a normal rational thinking consumers stand point it isn't worth the money.
whats up with OT? it seemed like the usual deal of trying to keep the objective "live" by contesting it but i couldn't figure out what made it faster/slower or what people were complaining about. the KOTH maps seem like they're supposed to be a bit of a meatgrinder.
Julian Sullivan
>two Uhh...there are three modes, user.
King of the hill, Capture points, and Payload.
Bentley Fisher
Why the fuck does it feel like the payload moves faster in Overtime
