Do any of you guys feel nostalgic enough towards Phantasy Star Online to want to come play? Remember the thrill of hunting through the same map over and over for that precious red box? We recently started a small little group of players and already have over 50 people, some of which are already into the Ultimate level.
The people over at Ephinea made their server after SCHThack went under and had to admit to losing every player's data. Not only that, but the administration of SCHThack was incompetent - we figured out ways to powerlevel to ultimate in an hour and cheat through challenge mode. Despite suspicious activity, we were never banned. Ephinea is a lot more like the original, live server and has a ton of quality-of-life improvements, such as PSO2 style drops and allowing you to change your section ID before level 20. The client is only 500mb and in the launcher are also custom options, such as upscaling the game to larger resolutions.
Also if you want to join our community, which can be useful for finding people to play with, we have a Discord over at discord.gg/010NN4N1NjMUp2EeY

I would, but I don't enjoy registering/submitting character data/ having to do a bunch of shit on forums.
And then waiting 4-17 days before I can play games like this.
Thomas Watson
Would have joined, but my autist won't let me while everybody else is high as fuck level. I would have wanted to level up with a bunch of people.
Here's a bump though.

People have an alts. I have a level 28~ force on the side, and then I also wanna start a ranger. Remember, there are 10 section IDs and each one has unique drops You can sign up and play instantly, though, adn the character transfers cut your level in half and take all your money/items

Been playing on Ephinea for about a week.
The PSO2 style luck/drop system is neat.
IDs are still a thing unlike other servers that try their own approach to item drops. This blows. This blows harder because you can change your ID but only until you hit level 20, after that you're stuck.
They added a gambling type thing which is frustrating because it has items you can't get anywhere else. Get ready to grind meseta.
Speaking of grinding - The EXP is set to about 200%. It's a decent amount. Given how grindy PSO is it can get a little annoying when you hit later levels and there are no groups around.
Offline quests don't work. They're bugged. If you want to play the story line you're fucked.
The people on it are very nice though.

I've never played PSO. My favorite MMOs are: Runescape, Vanilla/BC WoW, GW1, Rift.
Shill it to me.
Dominic Robinson
how much people are you?

Fun dungeon grinder where you actually see progress and get to hoard rare items. Challenging gameplay using a rhythm-based attack system. Has three classes - Force, the mage, Ranger, the "hunter," and Hunter, the melee class. Robots, loli/shota elves, and humans.
William Morales
I fucking miss PSO
Is your server linux friendly?
Brayden Hernandez
50+ Maybe? I dunno, actually. Post in the forums and ask, there might be a solution
Adam Sanders
Have you ever played vindictus?

Make this thread in a year user. PS Nova has me sour for a while but PSO is one of my all time favorite games and in the future I will sit down and play it for another 700 hours
Jose Nguyen
no, i've seen gameplay though
Isaac Parker
>if you want to play storyline you're fucked
what did they break? I remember doing storyline quests just fine a couple of weeks back.
Aaron Ortiz
Yes
Caleb Hill
>joining a Sup Forums discord server
I am tempted to go back to playing on ephinea though, if it has gotten that lively.
Grayson Adams
I've only ever played Phantasy Star Universe on Xbox 360.
Should I even bother playing if I'm not a veteran? Joining private servers always makes me feel left out, I'm the only one exploring while everyone else is just grinding as efficiently as possible.
Jayden Johnson
Wait, my level 175 humar is fucking gone? When did SCHThack shit the bed? I had always planned to go back one day but I probably would have started a new character anyways. Dogshit community on that old server though
Eli Bell
OP your little group is shit and filled with cunts.
Camden Evans
Everytime I try to attempt them there is something missing. The only one that worked for me was getting the mags back. Finding the missing hunter causes my game to crash and staking a claim doesn't register you picking up the quest items.
John Johnson
I think this is probably an issue on your side, I doubt they'd break this and not say anything.
They were working perfectly fine for me because I did them to unlock dr montague.
Jayden Butler
That sucks
Austin Bailey
Describe further.

can you play PSP2 on the psp online?
Ethan Diaz
I believe it requires Ad Hoc networking but yeah, you should be able to

Typical Sup Forums forms a group shit.

What's with all the songs the client is downloading? I thought Strange Fruits was an Episode 3 track.
Jack Sanchez
>PSO2 lobby theme >not even the shop area track Okay, why.
Jonathan Johnson
You can change the song in the lobby/find song drops that you use to change the song in game. It's all pointless but fun little additions.
Jordan Powell
I'd play with anybody else in the world.
Austin Hughes
Uhhh, 1p-mode quests do work, though. I can make enemy weapons, have the Soul Eater & Akiko's Frying Pan, and even got Kireek's support in Seat of the Heart for Ep.2.
As for the EXP, there's a weekly goal of killdudes'ing, if the community can collective kill more than the previous, we all get double exp and higher droprates.
Ryan Powell
>if the community can collective kill more than the previous, we all get double exp and higher droprates.
Is that kills over all or kills during a quest?
Logan Moore
I seem to have some fans in here. I've seen a couple of games calling for me.
I'm not actually in your discord, nor am I an actual member of your group. I'm just a person who hasn't posted on Sup Forums in over half-a-decade and established myself as part of the server's regulars. Bug me for my guild card, I'll probably help you any way I can.
Robert Allen
Been lurking in these threads since the beginning. Think I might finally give it a shot. Gonna solo for a while though just to get a feel for the game (plus im sure much of you wont be able to play with me since i'll be lvl 1)
Juan Diaz
Any kills. I don't think Sandbox mode kills count towards it, but normal/hardcore modes definitely do.
Logan King
this would be fun if theres new peopel who never played, people who dont know the maps, dont know the builds, dont know anything about it and everybody is like level 1. The fact that people are already ultimate totally ruins it.
Bentley Wood
The game is 17 years old. You expect people still playing it to be total newbies?
Bentley Powell
I've met people who have never played on the server already. Three so far.
Austin Allen
is there a way to transfer symbol chat between characters on the same account?
this is important
William Sanchez
Nah dude, PSO is inferior to PSU. You did good by getting to play PSU before it went down though. You can try PSO but its really dated and a lot slower than PSU
Joseph Bell
>PSO is inferior to PSU
I really should have played it more when it was out. I grinding really put me off which is odd because I've been told PSU was less grindy? Or maybe that's bullshit. PSU sure did have some nice music though.
Eli Jackson
waht level do i have to be to game hard w/ the boys
Camden Stewart
>The EXP is set to about 200% iirc only for the duration of w/e events going on so enjoy it while it lasts
Ayden Wilson
You know what? I might actually fucking join you. I haven't done this shit since the GCN release.
Jose Bailey
Well grinding is the heart of these games...they all have grinding. PSUs wasnt as bad though because there was frequent events and rare missions which gave you tons of exp and mission points so leveling classes was easy
Daniel Turner
Grinding weapons in PSU was bullshit, and getting all your classes to max level took lots of time. Then there's also disk grind. And GAS customization.
PSO is less grindy, even if you want to have three characters at level 200 and one of them is a Force.
Jace Taylor
Any level. People make alts all the time, and so long as people are getting your guild card, they can reach you no matter what you're playing on.
That said, there are level cutoffs for difficulties: Hard - 20 V.Hard - 40 Ultimate - 80
Those are the important ones. A secondary cutoff is at 100, where newman and android characters gain a substantial boost to their natural HP/TP regeneration rates.
Easton Morgan
I will only play if someone can guarantee me that imfat will be there
Juan Williams
I'm europoor, looks like Fodra is the only currently active one. Does EU pick up at all or should i just drop myself in US?
Connor Lee
I can't confirm the quests you mentioned, because apparently I've beaten them when I played last, but I just tried the one where you hunt forest enemies with a timer ticking, and it worked fine.
Try verifying the game's cache if it's possible, or reinstall using the file from the site.
