People still hate the new visuals

they only changed the lighting, which is terrible with all the vignetting

But the grass and the foliage are radically different.

and the full on scale of the open world,
and the fights with summons which would have actually been CGI instead of actual fights in game.

shit i hope
they had 10 years

i wish they would have rushed it, then it wouldnt have that god awful gameplay. i was so hyped until i played that demo. and ff7 is supposed to have the same gameplay?

No, FF7 will actually feel polished cause Tetsuya wouldn't release garbage to the public like Tabata did,

Remember that Nomura actually wanted XV to be a musical.

The gameplay was an instant "no, I'll pass" to this game. They made a bad move by releasing that demo. Sales will suffer.

My faith in the franchise is lower than ever. I actually enjoyed FF XIII in many aspects, specially gameplay late in the game, but this... I just don't wanna waste money.

Maybe you should have played the actual demo and not the tech demo before you decided how you feel about the gameplay - which doesn't actually exist in the tech demo.

What you mean? I played the Platinum Demo distributed a month or two ago. Is there a second demo?

Combat sucked hard.

Are you sure your played the platinum demo correctly?

I'm in it for the music as well.
youtube.com/watch?v=-MnIn63Vewg

If you are talking about anything where he is the director, we have Days, DDD, and Advent Children. I didn't personally hate AC, but enough people do that it can be mentioned.

a ff musical would be a fantastic thing

>every thread
Do you even sleep?
You're the new XV-kun at this point

>in it for the music
>doesn't even postthe OST

dead on arrival

Unless I'm missing something there's only the few songs that were played during the demo that have been released.

You forgot KH 1 and 2.

>correctly
You mean by wasting all your MP and barely doing any damage?
You might as well just use the boradsword and deal way more damage

I didn't know XV was going to take to place in Bionis

AC's problem was that Nomura only wanted it to be a short or OVA, not a feature length movie with some convoluted plot. Basically a CGI tech demo.

I'm going with general consensus, not personal opinion. That is why I mentioned AC even though I enjoyed the movie. KH 1 & 2 are considered great games.

What kind of gameplay is that?

Is it an action game like DMC?

I had a friend who, back when we were teens, bought a PS3 in anticipation for this game. I'm not sure how glad he is that he had to wait given that cancer took him last year.

Sort of. It's pretty shallow, but it's servicable. Pretty unique, too.

The combat in Episode Duscae was better and that's not saying much.

The only thing FFXV has going for it is the graphics and the world size.

Gameplay wise i wouldn't be suprised if it turns out to be the worst one yet.

please put some more jpeg into your picture so we can see all those details.

That's my reason for hating the combat right there.

It tries to be a Souls game. It tries to be a Kingdom Hearts derivative. It tries to be a Final Fantasy. Fail in all attempts. It reminded me of Dawn of Mana, such a promising game with poor mechanics around the whole grab&throw stuff from the enviroment.

It's just something else other than a Final Fantasy.

Still doesn't matter, the world is going to be empty and uninteresting. They shouldn't have went open world.

I seriously don't know how do you play these new Final Fantasy games.

They all do these flashy moves, just like in Bayonetta, but with one button press?

Have an entire video.

youtube.com/watch?v=YrupmBO8lJU

What exactly does Duscae have going for it with combat? I thought Platinum was much better with weapon switching, parrying, and other minor things.

Not one, but it's not deeo at all
It's pretty much style over substance, you have some directional inputs, but most of those moves are useless

No game should rely on open world to be "better".

Too real user...

You're here too so I mean.

>Gameplay wise i wouldn't be suprised if it turns out to be the worst one yet.

Old games were
>Use default attack a whole bunch of times
>Sometimes cast a spell like reflect or an elemental spell that the enemy is weak against
>Sometimes instead of using attack you use a potion

>pretty shallow
Its not really that shallow. The combat has depth, but you have to look for it. People just don't like that you can hold buttons instead of having to tap them.

The truth is we have to wait for the real game. If the enemies get a lot harder, then you will be forced to explore the depths of the combat. If nothing in the game forces you to do this, than I can half accept it being called shallow.

Holding O causes you to constantly attack, and tilting the stick causes different things to happen depending on the weapon you have equipped. The sword and shuriken cause you to jump back into the air and attack from there, where further stick tilts will cause you to air dash. The greatsword and shield cause you to do a strong special attack when you tilt backwards. Holding the dodge button causes you to auto-dodge most attacks at the cost of MP.

But i don't post the same shitty webm every thread

Compared to a 70-hour hallway?

Is there any way to change the attack input?

I'd prefer mashing than holding down the button.

The thing is: the combat didn't need to go that way. Final Fantasy already was pretty fucking deep enough as it was in FFXII. Gambit system fucked up stuff for some people, but it could be solved pretty easily. If they plan going on action/adventure approach for battle system, XII had the perfect balance for a start.

Yes?
Open world doesn't automatically make it any better

Enemy variety will hopefully go a long way, but I feel like I've explored all the possibilities after fighting the Iron Golem a few times. I've fought him a lot because it's fun, but eventually it wears thin. That's why I call it 'serviceable', it's enough to sustain a Final Fantasy game because its strengths lie elsewhere, but the game won't be worth playing for the combat alone imo.

Nope

I'm not even going to deny I am the one posting it, but at the same time I know other people have been saving it and posting it too.

The best hallway action I had in years. Late game is great as something close to "open world".

Honestly I'm not feeling it yet. For some reason all the stuff I've seen so far about the game didn't really feel like a final fantasy. It didn't really feel like a JRPG either. It was like 90% on some boring ass roads or open field. I want to see some dungeons or more cities. I get this strange FFXIV feel where everything is fucking garbage, I don't want an offline MMO, I want a full blown JRPG with great dungeons and exploration.

Wasn't XV going to have a gambit system for your allies too?

You can do that, it doesn't matter.

Lies.

A jrpg musical would be cool and something different, i mean theres only 3 jrpg musicals to my knoweldge.

Pretty much
Doing air combos and shit is fun at first, but not for long and you'll just use the broadsword or anything that kills enemies fast for 90% of the game.

If only there were more SRPGs in the series. Positioning, timing, and moves like steal were very important in FFT. Also, I loved how too much grinding could make random encounters impossible since you couldn't get good enough gear unless you progressed the story, or got EXTREMELY lucky with stealing good gear during random encounters.

I heard they had to turn off most of the foliage and lighting to make the game run on console.

Someone was posting screens here a while ago.

I wouldn't trust those bullshots, same as any other console game advertising.

>What exactly does Duscae have going for it with combat?

More resposive and better framerate.

I know this will trigger consolefaggots, but the better framerate that Episode Duscae had made the combat much better, and even then it wasn't ideal.

This game needs a PC version badly.

I think thats theatrythm ff

I still would prefer if the game was mashing only and the attack would actually start up a little faster. You can just tell by the animations that barely blend well together and just repeat over and over again the the system is just base around holding a button. KH at least had combo extenders and combo finishers

My main concern is trash mobs. If Duscae is any indication they're more of annoyance than an engaging fight. Bosses and tougher enemies like the IG will be fun enough and hopefully encourage different weapons and tactics, but like you said, I'm worried I'll just be holding O with the broadsword in front of some goblins too often.

>I heard they had to turn off most of the foliage and lighting to make the game run on console.

Distributed realtime rendering over internet cannot come soon enough.

That's the big problem with open world. you have to put shit on the map every few meters to not make it the most boring game ever, but even monster will get boring fast

Well alright, but any substantive mechanical advantages?

I'm praying for Persona 5 to deliver at this point.

But persona has no exploration

FFXV will be seen like TPP was. Lots of potential but everything falls flat and ends being trite and boring.

Exploration of an empty world like in XV?

Positioning in MMO style combat just pisses me off. I would either prefer that I don't move during battle, or that movement is actually important. Don't give me this half assed shit where I need to move every now and then, but it doesn't matter too much how I move. Combine that with Gambits, and FFXII felt like the worst combat the series has ever seen, including both FFXV demos.

Considering it is just a tech demo, I still hold judgement for the final game. Weapons/magic have a big influence on how you approach a battle so there is just too much unknown. Either way, even with Platinum, it seemed like every time I thought I knew everything there is to know about the combat, the next day someone would be showing me something new.

One got stopped midway though development and released over a year ago. This didn't and has been in planning phase for about 5 years and actual development for another 5 years.

FFXV will have the same problem that every single fucking open world game is having this generation: nice looking world that is cool to look at, and wonder around, for about 5 minutes. Then you realize that it isn't very interactable and is kind of boring.

Even fucking Uncharted, a series of games that used to be a linear, turned into a ""open-world"" shit that is pretty, but boring.

I can't wait for developers to get over this "open-world era" that we are having at the moment.

Exploration of any kind

Persona 3 and 4 gives you one town and stupid random dungeons and that's it

XV I'm hoping will be like Xenoblade

So by your logic the longer it takes to make a game and the longer it is development hell, the better it will be?

I don't give a shit about Final Fantasy, but I'm pretty sure that it's been like a decade since the game was slated to come out, right? This is basically Jap Duke Nukem Forever.

Fuck. XIII looks incredible even 6 years after release.
It has many flaws, but graphics and music are just impossibly good.

Better framerate in an action game = substantive mechanical advantages.

FFXV with its 25 fps is unacceptable for this style of combat.

I just fucking hope that the story is at the very least is not unfinished and satisfying, unlike MGSV.

The OST will be great
That's probably about it, i will play it since i've waited since fucking 2006, but it'll probably be one of the more forgettable FFs

Talk about the game you fags.

The World of FFXV is called Eos.

Eos in Greek mythology is the Goddess of Dawn (dawn trailer and also logo of ffxv is a woman sleeping with half a sun behind her).

Her sister is the Goddess of the moon Selene. Her Roman equivalent is Luna.

Her brother is the God of the Sun Helios. The equivalent of Helios in Roman mythology was Sol. (Probably the god that Solheim will worship)

All three were Titans. (3 Huge beings appear in the Dawn trailer.)

Goddess Eos main responsibility in Greek mythology was to open the gates of heaven. She is pictured as a beautiful woman, crowned with a tiara and large wings. (the logo of ffxv has the sun looking like a crown and a single wing can be seen behind the woman)

So i assume that Etro, the Goddess of death was changed to Eos, the Goddess of Dawn and the Gate of Etro, a gate to the underworld was changed to the Gate of Eos, a gate to the heavens.

Goddess Eos was also known as "The Bringer of Light"
Also Noctis Lucis Caelum means "The night sky that belongs to the Light"
In the Dawn trailer a quote says "The stars chose THE SON to be their Light"

The lore seems tight so far. Everything makes sense.

I think his focus was on that TPP was rushed out the door as an unfinished product, which is never a good thing. XV won't be rushed out the door, and the development of the game hasn't been that long compared to normal games. The game may have been planned for a long time, but it wasn't actually being developed for a long time. The only thing that can be a source for concern is the jump from Versus to XV. If the major jump in the game's direction shows in the game, then it can cause a hit to quality.

Played it on PC the other day, looked way better than I remembered. Probably better than a lot of current gen games.

I'm not sure if I like this music

It's kind of a nice version of the classic FF theme but then it gets into buttrock territory with those drums and guitars in the middle

youtube.com/watch?v=CzIsbgDt5oM

old gameplay was better.

DNF had a prolonged development cycle, with a huge shift in developer. FFXV may have existed in name for a long time, but its development cycle has been closer to average. As far as I know, it hasn't suffered from a 100% change in developers.

>10 years
It should look better than battlefront by now.

So much for being a Fabula Nova Crystallis game.

thank you scholar-kun, seems good indeed.
sept 30 HYPE. call me a shill if you will but I for one am gonna support squenix with this one. final fantasy was an integral part of my growing up so dishing out 60 bucks in return is a trade that i will take, and this is coming from someone that is awfully picky with their money. I'm not sold on every aspect as of yet, but I'm sure it will actually be quite good after getting used to it. Probably not gonna be as good as P5, though.

So what do people feel about the game being based around a bachelor road trip?

Literally watered down jet li's rise to honor fighting mechanics, better off with kh's mechanics at this point.

Seems novel, I like it.

>implying the "lore" matter in any of these games

wew lad

Well its easy to make good looking games if you focused on art direction/style to complement the hardware capabilities. Basically designing visual that works nicely based on the tools/capabilities you have.

It gives some sort of decent reason behind the male cast.

>implying you will not be a cynical fuck about everything and just appreciate something nice for once

it has been known for a while that XVs current connection to the FNC has been reduced to a thematic base upon which original lore has been based.

The name change of Agito XIII to Type-0 was also to distance that game from the XIII series.

Square has been trying to kill the FNC for a while now.

The lore is the only thing that matters in Type-0 and XIII.

Production value is literally the only thing the game has going for it.

The rest sucks major ass. Especially the god awful combat.
If I wanted to play an action game I would play a fucking action game! Get this shit out of my JRPG!

Do we have any fucking clue how much different the two battle modes will be?

Yep

No they upgraded literally everything.

All they have said is this

The equivalent to difficulty level settings in FFXV is a system where you can switch between different battle modes. By having this ability to switch modes, we want to make it so that both players who like action oriented, technical gameplay and also those who want to fight at a slower, more relaxed pace can all enjoy the combat in their own style. This switching system is a key part of the gameplay that we decided to introduce based on the feedback we received from the Episode Duscae demo. We will go into more detail about the system closer to the game’s launch so stay tuned for more information.

Dissidia has an RPG mode, i assume it will be something close to that.
