how does Naughty Dog do it?

idk why are you asking me faggot

That's all it is rendering.

quantum pixels

It's called talent, lad. Something most devs fail to obtain.

naughty dog has been doing it literally since ps1. you think the 3d Crash was easy to make on the ps1? they really went all out micro optimizing the game, saw a documentary about it

cheats tricks and illusions
get learned

Naughty Dogs development for uncharted is 90% graphics

they don't care about their gameplay so less effort for them so they just focus on graphics

You want to know the worst thing about Uncharted is all that wonderful detail and design and effort that gets put into the visuals gets shot to fucking hell as soon as you move the camera because of all the fucking motion blur.

Its depressing seeing how fantastic everything looks and then its just a smeary mess until you stop moving again.

the motion blur looks great, especially considering the games running at 30fps in the story mode. One of the few times I've seen motion blur implemented well in a game

Fuck off Gaf motion blur never looks good in any circumstance.

>Use low res textures for the backgrounds
>Shitload of blur
>Save processing power for the NPCs
>Render at sub 30fps
>Render at less than 1080p
>IZI optimization

Don't know about 4, but I just got the collection and played through 1, and you can turn off the motion blur in the settings. Nice of them to have it as optional.

Except the gameplay is buttery fucking smooth and the MP is a blast.

>>Render at sub 30fps
>>Render at less than 1080p
PC-tears are delicious.

>Less than 1080p.
UC4 runs at full 1080p for the duration. No variable resolution scaling is implemented.

>Sub 30fps
>Less than 1080p
Nice one buddy

It's piss easy to optimise when you have a single hardware arrangement. The fact that most seem to fuck it up is just a testament to how shitty most developers are nowadays. As Chris Seavor once said

>most studios are just made up of hundreds of useless fucks

This can be rendered on a 10 year old intel integrated gpu.

ughhh it's another graphics thread, doesn't anybody care about gameplay anymore?

Is he an alpha stud because everything he releases is still in alpha?

>Uncharted multiplayer is a blast
No, it always has been shit

you're pretty good

Yeah.

Well need to complain about 60fps again.

>best looking game on ps4
>can run on a laptop
so this... is the power... of the pee ess quadruple...

>this was rendered in real time on a 20th century gpu

>blur
>not costly on cpu

ok

>sony has the best looking games/exclusives

tell me something new

looks like ps3/360

It's so funny. Literally all the hate on this game is because they can't play this game. All naughty dog does is release masterpieces. Last of us was a fucking masterpiece, this game is a fucking masterpiece, nitpicking over motion blur is just adding to the fact that your argument is shit and you're never going to play this game haha. This game looks so good andthe story is good as fuck. Keep playing CSGO faggots.

>Shitload of blur
Blur is expensive as fuck!

DELETE THIS

how do they do it? how is it realer than real life... i can't.. even

There's also something broken about the motion blur. Some bits are blurred, others aren't.

What's top right?

Order 1886

Order 1886, got like a 50 or something on metacritic.

concept art for order 1886

naughty dog makes every other developer look incompetent

I think it's The Order 1886

That's called a focal point you absolute pleb

You can have this blur along with clear sharp edges. Drake should look crystal clear on his left side, by your claim, which he is not.

Interesting fact:
The PS4 has a user base of ~36 million (amount of sold units) and 65 million active users (1.8 users per owned console), Steam has 125 million users, but just ~10 million concurrent at best..

Why are people surprised console exclusives are some of the best games out there again?

This is what baffles me.

Naughty Dog is probably the most competent studio optimization wise in this entire industry yet they can't design gameplay to save their lives. You can really tell they simply have no idea how to make things engaging with their over reliance on scripted events. The AI in their games is the very worst of the entire industry and feels like it's come straight out of a ps1 game. TLOU was very enjoyable but sometimes I just felt like putting the controller down because the AI was so shitty, buggy, stiff and immersion breaking I no longer wanted to play. Ellie was simply disgracefully atrocious and a testament of incompetence.

>I know how to implement blur better than Naughty Dog.
How many sticks does it take to keep your big head upright?

Just one up my ass. Still, every bit in the game with fast motion close to the camera looks horrible.

you're retarded

the AI in UC4 is great and is way too good at flanking. If you do not move after getting spotted you get surrounded within like 15 seconds.

Also the combat in this game is awesome

Man did the order look good too bad the game sucks, and it has so much potential for a good fun game maybe next time

The enemy AI in Uncharted 4 is some of the best I've seen. The companions are still pretty retarded though

I love the different standards people apply to games.

>Undertale: GOAT game, I'm fine with the graphics - it does what it sets out to do
>Uncharted: the blur could've been better up close

There's first world problems, and there's people being ridiculous with the stuff that bugs them.

>implying I give a heck

I'm not much of a standards kind of guy. I like my games looking okay. If the game has a lot of panning camera movement, I'd rather the game to have higher frame rates instead of being choppy or motion blurred.
I have not played Undertale, but I assume people handle its graphics because its pixelated artstyle. You know it looks like shit, but you look past it because it looks uniformly shit. If you suddenly had a high-res image or a complex 3D model inserted into the game, you'd be put off.
When you look at a Georges Seurat painting, you're okay with its grainy looks, because it's meant to be that way. When you look at a picture took at night time with a phone's camera, you're not okay with its grainy image. Why? Probably because it tries to look good but it fails, I don't know. I'm not a scientist.

I can play Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup and not complain about its graphics because it has none. When I play a game with quite stunning visuals at parts where it looks almost like it a real video, and suddenly I get weird visual artifacts, or catch some textures that weren't loaded yet, it puts me off.
I suppose it has something like the uncanny valley, where you become more judgemental the more realistic it looks.

Here, look at this picture here. Does it not bother you how the suit is completely out of focus, but somehow its edge is precise to the pixel? It's these things that break my immersion, make me take a step back and start criticizing what broke my immersion.

The realism of uc4 throws me off. Uncharted Nate seemed like an early 30s guy. He looks 10 years older

by placing nothing except one model in frame

U4 was a disappointing, mediocre game, but their graphics tech is ridiculous, as is the fact that the game ramps up visually chapter by chapter.

Once you hit Libertalia some of the effects are mindblowing.

But, like I said, the game itself is worse than U2 which is almost a decade old, which is stupid disappointing.

You can achieve a lot if you don't care about framerate.

I remember being able to run Crysis on high back in the day on a Pentium 4 with an old ass AGP GPU at a "playable" framerate and 1024x768 resolution.

It's not an APU. And it's not that impressive considering it runs at 30fps.

>Naughty dog
>Optimization

Choose one.

Graphics optimization 90%
Character controller 50%
AI 10%

In every Naughty Dog game.

And this was rendered in real time in a 45 dollars tablet CPU + 128 dollars GPU and outperform the ps4 2 times.
youtube.com/watch?v=xsG9sXzM5b8

They make it run at 30FPS, its not rocket science and its not impressive either. I can use DSR and max out settings in Crysis 3, the fact that it then runs at 10fps is not impressive. Speaking of which, Crysis 3 came out in 2013 and looks better than this significantly.

>the AI in UC4 is great
They are literally blind, especially when you kill them out of the grass.

Nope, its great. They finally perfected it. When the Co-op hits it will be phenomenal.

What PS2 game is this?

It's designed to be like that, it's not the most elegant or realistic system, but they don't see you sneaking around killing people in long grass because that's how stealth works.

The AI is actually pretty smart, like other people said they flank the shit out of you and if you stealth takedown someone mid conversation the people they were talking to wonder what happened and come investigate, sure they can't find you if you're in the grass but that's a game design choice not a fault of the AI.

Also if they lose you mid fight, they'll split up and start searching and report back that they found nothing.

Real time apple eating is only possible on PS4

NEVER
EVER

das it mane

Concurrent users =/= active users.
Concurrent users is how many users are logged in at a given moment.
Active users is how many people have logged in with in a time frame set by the providers of that service (in this case, Sony), usually 6-12 months.
Really the best looking games are going to be multi-plats, because they need as many sales as possible to offset the cost of development.

i was pretty amazed by AI in TLOU

what problems you have with it? ND said enemies in TLOU were originally pro at flanking, sneaking and back-stabbing you, but it wasn't fun..

they doin it for 1 hardware, only 30 fps, low physics, to trick morons like you

altough i would like to see how well would they perform if they would just make an RTS with houndreds of units....

>This game looks fine but it would look worse if it had 3000000000000000 things going on on the screen every second.

Wow dude. Thats some high IQ shit right here.

Yeah, I wouldn't say I was amazed by the human enemy AI but it was far from the worst. They could actually flank and advance when you were reloading (I think) when most games only bother to code "peek and shoot" and "charge directly at player"

with textures from 2005

>Sonyggers still need to justify the purchase of games that have barely any gameplay

>every game has graphics from 2012
>best looking
kek

Yes it is.

>with textures from 2005

these ones don't count though, right?

>low physics

This. What were they thinking? He looks like another character entirely.

>low physics
somebody hasn't played the game :^)

It is rumored that the uncharted games' discs never have a hole in the middle so they can fit in more graphics
