I have fun at them. Anime cons not so much anymore, I'm 25 now and anime conventions tend to be mostly the 15-20 crowd. The insanity count tends to be absurdly high too. With a good couple thousand people there though, you're bound to find some crowd worth hanging with. Now my local sci fi convention is amazing. Much broader theme, much more all around fun. Much less squealing fangirls and autistic guys.

Some cosplay photo-taking etiquette:

A. Taking pictures of cosplayers makes them feel nice and makes their hard work feel worth-while. If you find a cosplay you like, ask to take a photo! Don't be a beta.
B. Take pictures WITH them so you have a memory to take with you. Taking pictures of them alone is a waste of time. If you want to see pictures of a particular cosplayer you'll find much more high-quality photos of them after the con.
C. If you're going to take a picture of a cosplayer, don't do it in the middle of the fucking hallway. Be a good Samaritan and take the photo off to the side, got it?
D. Don't be a fag and take candid photos. That's creepy is fuck.
E. BRING YOUR PHONE CHARGER, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE FRIENDS GOING WITH YOU.

What's candid photos?

Protip: Touch as many cosplayers as you can. Don't ask, just touch.
Make sure when you take photos that they're sudden and close-up, because they like to move away if you take too much time.
Wear some of your own cosplay or nothing at all.
Don't be afraid of the security.

For example: taking photos of an Overwatch girl from behind a bush while she's eating, or some shit.

Even though they're required by law, sometimes older apartments/houses won't have those in kitchens and bathrooms. I had to tell my last landlord to put them in my unit. He ended up needing to do it for all 5 other units in the building as well.
