Things in gaming that will always scare the hell out of you?

They're just so damn unnatural and eerie looking.

>Spiders, as long as they are well done
>(Murky) water

Large bodies of water.

It never fails to be unnerving in every fucking video game.

Dark Messiah of Bootan Kickan did spideys very well. Always have some sort of burning on hand when you see webs.

Dropping out of bounds and infinitely dropping down. Had it happen in DS1 while sliding down a ladder.
Also underwater parts of games. Especially if the body of water is murky or the draw distance is low. I blame PS1 for this personally.
Thanks Tomb Raider 2, thanks Ape Escape, thanks Demo one.

usually water levels are the most annoying shit as well

>spiders dont die when you kick them off a ledge

Was fun the moment they gangbanged me in that huge well level

Yeah I played that. Those fuckers jumped right at your face

>Going for the smugglers caches around skellig in witcher 3.

I had to stop, the darkness was getting to be too much for me.

>have deep fear of large bodies of water
>have deep fear of the shit living in them
>strangely fascinated by both
>playing skyrim
>exploring northen water because i know theres just fish in there
>feel constantly on edge just because its deep dark water
>feels like its a good idea to push myself to help get over fear
>surface and start moving around ice to cover some distance
>plunge under a bit further north
>game decided to spawn dead dragon I never fought RIGHT THERE underwater
>face to face with completely unexpected serpent face
>havent been to that area since

Have you ever seen what happens when you drop out of bounds in Mirror's Edge?

I remember playing the Fear demo as a kid, not knowing English I thought it was just another FPS.
Got to the part where you're crawling through a vent and Alma comes around the corner, I unistalled that game REAL quick.

...

Played the game a bunch but no, I haven't. Not sure if I want to either.
post vid pls

absolutely terrifying

>play oblivion
>sewers
>go underwater
>meet slaughterfish for the first time
>never want to go in water again

...

i was scared like a little bitch of facehuggers in alien vs predator ( not the 2010 remake )

That vaginahands has a penis.
Giger was one interesting dude.

Underwater sections ruin me in games. Couldn't even use the submarine in Final Fantasy 7 - didn't help that Emerald Weapon is always swimming around either.

I'm sitting myself over how it'll look in the remake.

You going to play SOMA?

I meme'd too hard and it's gotten to the point where I'm actually genuinely frightened of skeletons

I was gonna post this but
>someone else that actually knows about serious sam
My nigga

fuck that level

Are you implying that Serious Sam is obscure in some way?

Would you let that thing hug your dick y/n

i never see anyone talk about it and none of my friends know about it either
its the GOAT shootin series though

Probably, I'm pretty lonely

Next Alien movie features this user and a prostateburster alien.

>mouth for penis
>tail for prostate massage

Facehuggers would be 10/10 girlfriends.

I keep looking at it, thinking about it, then fagging out.

Is it a good spook?

Fuck water. As much as I hate it I love it and I'm obsessed with subnautica.
>be me
>8-9 or something
>playing jak and daxter with older brother
>brother tells me if I go out in to the water I'll find a secret
>oh boy, secrets!
>swim out in to ocean
>music starts playing
>my brother tells me that means I'm doing it right
>shark thing eats me
>never liked water ever again
I have an irl water story about the same bro too
>be me
>10
>In Egypt with family, Sharm El Shiekh to be specific
>hotel had a private pier which took you in to the water
>must have been on a coral reef or something because you could walk in the water for almost a mile without the depth getting too high
>me and bro walking out in to ocean with parents
>suddenlt huge drop off
>All I see is pitch blackness as I stand near the edge
>terrifying but fascinating
>suddenly my brother picks me up over his head and throws me off edge
>never felt primal, instinctual fear until that point and haven't felt it since
>now I struggle to play games like fucking Farcry 3 because of the ocean and sharks
My fucking brother

it's all fun and games until it sounds you with a fucking egg

that sounds like a fucking awesome place user, got any pictures?
I would of shat my pants with the force of a thousand supernovas if i was thrown in that water though

I don't have any pictures but the ocean was essentially like this, very shallow for what seemed like a mile and then a sudden drop off in to darkness

Sonic the Hedgehog forever made me hate/fear water and drowning in video games.

Fuck these things. I have beaten HalfLife probably 20 times and I still dread the parts with these fuckers. Nobody can convince me that there is a scarier game than HalfLife

It would've been a blue hole then, yeah?
Give that a google

Oh yeah and another thing
>mfw I couldn't finish Resistance: FoM because those swimming alien things

No idea, wasn't shat on as hard as Machine For Pigs was here, so it might be ok.
Just know there's a lot of abyssal features in it, makes Bioshock look like a beach resort.

They're called lagoons

Fucking everyone on Sup Forums seems to be scared of deep water.

Why wouldn't you be? Unknown monster-like shit live down there ready to fuck your shit up.
As a wise man once said about deep-sea creatures: "Set that shit on fire!"

seems valid
most people here are used to sitting in a chair doing absolutely nothing
in deep water you're forced to exercise or die horribly
in the ocean, there's no end to how long you have to exercise
horrifying

This is why I couldn't finish the game.

Gee I wonder who could be behind that post

>having to exercise excessive in order to survive
Truly the worst way to die

I'm not, I fucking love swimming, used to scuba dive too.

Now ticks, thats what im absoutely hotrrified of. glad there are no enemies like ticks in games.

visceroids are another one, but only completely fear-inducing in c&c renegade atleast.

I love swimming so long as I can see the bottom of the pool or whatever. It's the deep dark that terrifies me. Fuck knows what's down there and I don't want to find out.

Getting crushed between walls in platformers has always been my biggest trigger

I was scared shitless by the water levels in mario 64...

Fair enough, just know that the legends of giant mammoth fish are gone, and those who do exist are usually eaters of food smaller than your foot

Ok but giant squids are still terrifying and fucking cunts, deserving of a punch to their beak

any game giant bees/wasp

Depends how deep. If I can see the bottom with some goggles not really. If there's thousands of feet of nothing but water below me along with unimaginable amounts of sharks and scary ass fish and knowing if I drown I will fall all the way to the bottom and decay while being eaten alive, then yea, that shit scares the shit out of me.

It was fine until the giant squid.

Why did you mention the giant squids?

im personally just afraid of drowning

>beak
>BEAK
They're supposed to be squishy and friendly! No beaks!

modernistic hallways รก la F.E.A.R: youtube.com/watch?v=MNGdOMU5aTE

Shat my pants when i worked in a hospital that had a place like this

...

Did you even find the giant slaughterfish in that cave beneath the lake?

>go "out of bounds" in the sea
>shark fin appears
>yfw

>they're just dolphins

...

>they proceed to gangbang you

Dolphins are more fucked up than you think.

>that helpless feeling when no matter how desperately you try you just can't swim away fast enough

fucking triggered mang

are you dumb, all squid and octopuses have beaks, and they are decidedly unfriendly, being predators

>all squid and octopuses have beaks
Low quality bait bruv, not all squid and octopi do.
Pic related.

I know, that was puzzles me the most too. How on earth would a sea creature develop things seen in birds?

nature is interesting.

>he didn't hear the story of the dolphin who saved a guy who tried killing himself by jumping off a bridge

More like birds developed from sea creatures.

Was he destroyed?

Heights are a real problem for me lately, never had this before. Jumping down from cliffs, buildings makes me feel nauseous. Mirror's Edge is one of the worst offenders.

>submarining in fucking GTA5

I was blown away by how well done that shit was.

That's a pretty typical Jungian Archetype

>no-one posted these fuckers yet

Just saving this fucking picture was giving me tingly feet.
>trying to not spoil myself too much, but obviously still on Sup Forums
>see this guy, people wondering what he does
>scroll past the thread before I get spoiled too much more
>find him in the guy, stomach drops but I nervously laugh it off
>kill him, find the cage with one of them in it
>"oh it's fine, he'll just be chained to the wall too..."
>walking up to it
>next thing I know it's fucking face is RIGHT THERE
>FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK

>that room with 5 of them
>two don't glow so they shuffle around in the darkness

seeing this scary ass thing coming into view from miles away where its firing huge wave like magic at you, you wonder if you can even beat this thing since its so fucking huge

I really couldn't feel comfortable sleeping like that, it would feel as though I could fall right through the tent at any time.

>Those hand textures

So this is the power of the PS4?

youtube.com/watch?v=36YhOECHpSM

Enjoy.

>swim out to the open ocean just to see how far I can go
>get eaten alive by a giant serpent without warning

that's what brothers are for. he made you stronker. yiss.

the ones that actually attack you never unnerved me because they're so easy

that single passive one in the cell in your picture, though, fuck that guy

are you saying sea creatures are the OG?

The Deerhaunter from Timesplitters, alongside, Carrion Carcass were two of the most fucking disturbing and unnerving things I've seen in a video game.

Fuck. That.

[nightmare fuel intensifies]

for some reason these always freaked me out a lot more than those in OoT

Holy shit.

This takes the fucking cake.

"Great volumes of water serve as a bulwark that guards sleep, and an Augur of the Eldrich Truth. Overcome this limitation, and claim what is yours."

Are you going to let some bitch-ass H2O keep you from your true potential, user?

It was just a combination of
>passive one unnerved the shit out of me
>first hostile then freaked me the fuck out with how he launched at me after I assumed he was also passive

So yeah, they're easy but it doesn't stop my memories and the instinctual nerviness from their design from just making my palms go clammy.

>water zone in Outcast
>hey, don't go beyond the floating markers
>try it
>get eaten by little fishes attacking you
>you can see them hanging around outside the markers, just waiting for you to cross
>part of the game requires you to swim outside the markers next to a moving boat
>tense as fuck

best thing about the game was there was no invisible walls or impassable mountains fencing you in.... just if you walked out too far some nautral thing would mean you died (sinking in sand-drifts, but could walk back to safety was another).

these fuckers from DaS2

>skin texture hasn't even loaded yet

fucking JUST

/spooky/

>put wax on your head
>keeps the ghost hands away
but why

It all came from the sea, bro. Except for us. We crash landed here when our spaceship broke down. But I'm sure we started in a sea somewhere.

They're unsettling but other than the Dragonslayer Armour fight they don't actually do anything which was sort of disappointing.

>Scholar's Shed Skin

>Skin shed from a sage of the Grand Archives. The ivory wax has hardened, forming a mask. Wax protected the inquirer from exposure to the foulness that permeated the majority of the texts, preventing one's anchor of reason from being too easily washed away

There curses from reading the book in the libary, if you can't read them , they can't hurt you.

Similarly if you wear the eyeless hood from dark untended graves, they won't hurt you either.

I still get kinda nervous when this part happens

does this count?
