ITT: Video game red flags

>Top down perspective

>unity engine when it's not a porn game

>time limited

>Day One Edition

>fanservice

>Early Access

>procedurally generated

I know some people love it, but not me.

>"we wanted to create the kinds of games we loved growing up"

>RPG promising more than a 60 hour main story

How about no

>cinematic experience

>rogue like
>pixelated
>story driven

>game looks pretty cool
>it's free-to-play

>season pass

>Silky smooth 20 fps for that realistic cinematic gaming experience

>RPG
>No respawns

>wacky pop culture references every two minutes

> procedural generation

This used to bode good things...

>Open world

>dynamic resolution

>hardcore survival and early access

>licensed music
>and it's not a driving/racing game

>Western dev that's not indie
>Eastern dev that's not NIS

there needs to be more bebes

>story heavy (anything over one hour)
>character blatantly designed for fanservice (Bayonetta, Zero Suit Samus)
>trying too hard to be "cool" (Kid Icarus, Firewatch)
>uses quick time events (Wonderful 101, TLOU)
>tries too hard to be "mature" with blood and sex and violence (God of War, Hatred, Overwatch)
>excuses laziness with memes (Undertale's mocking of people who want hard mode)
>excessive DLC (Smash Brothers, Fallout)

Put it all in the dumpster, my main man.

"hard as balls"

No thanks don't feel like being frustrated until I rage.

>Zombies

>Game 3
>"New players will be able to jump into the game just fine."

>retro
>rogue-like
>pixel graphics
>free to play
>early access
>indie
>survival

Marketers latched onto it as another buzzword/thing to train the devs to say. It doesn't necessarily mean anything now.

>Compile Heart

You should consider just not playing video games.

>story mode

>tries too hard to be "mature" with blood and sex and violence (God of War, Hatred, Overwatch)
>overwatch

I hate this too, especially in a series with an overarching story or plot, because then saying that also implies inconsistency in character and story for those acquainted with the series already.

>>trying too hard to be "cool" (Kid Icarus
You completely missed the point there buddy. It's meant to be incredibly uncool as part of the humour

>beta release 1 week before launch

It's trying to be "ironic" about it, which is as effective as ironic shitposting, or that scene in FFX where Tidus laughs, and it's "supposed to be cringe-worthy".

I'd prefer my video games to not try their hand at meta humor. It never works.

>Western "open world" game

>it's a video game

Well, I guess I could give you the quicktime events.

>Season Pass

>X-like
>X-lite

Japanese are no better.

The Witcher 3 has the best oepn-world to date.

>50 threads about asking for Tracer/Widowmaker porn
>only 1 actually discussing gameplay

Overwatch is fanservice garbage m8.

>start game
>a controller image with a fuckton of arrows pointing to all sorts of shit flashes for a second while loading and disappears
>no way to check controls in-game

>dev is western

>tutorial says that you should savescum
>"game over" screen instead of starting from last checkpoint automatically

>We want X audience
>subtitle options under video menu

>early access
>unskippable cutscenes
>automatic health regeneration
>announcer that says anything other than the round number, victor's name or some variation of 'fight'
>intentionally retro
>regular attempts at humour
>has the word "persona" in the title

Cute/sexy characters is not the same as trying to be mature using sex.

Throwing in a sex scene out of nowhere for an achievement? That's trying to look more mature with sex.

>muh huge map
>muh pointless shit every two steps

This and only this.

You can make this assumption and 9 times out of 10 you'll be right.

>title drops

So you essentially like western fighters and football manager games. What a life

>references to popular culture
>references to other unrelated games from the dev's catalog
>references to other dev's games

Name a game that does it better.

You faggots will complain about anything.

First it's too empty, now there's too much to fucking do.

>Pixelshit

go home, Sup Forums

>isometric perspective

you dont like hotline miami? literally the only game i can think of in recent years with a topdown perspective, unless youre including isometric perspectives in which case youre more autistic than most of this board

>Cute/sexy characters is not the same as trying to be mature using sex.
If that was true, then none of the characters would be in skintight latex outfits, which is blatant pandering for the fetishists and shouldn't be in the game.

If I'm gonn a pay 40 bucks for this, I don't want a single thing in my game other than pure gameplay, and elements that directly make the game better. Skimpy outfits and cosmetics do not do that.

>With this sequel we want to attract a broader audience

>complains about western devs
>posts game that introduced QTE cancer

>multiplayer only

>Origin
>Uplay
>W10 exclusive

Nuclear Throne is top-down, indie, and pixel, and manages to still be good despite the whiners on here.

>clunky walking animations

>lock boxes
>skins
>booster packs

>all marketing materials are fanservice

>running animation that's slower than how fast the character is moving so it looks like they're sliding

I'm triggered thinking about it

I agree, this game is the only rogue type game that I even like.

I was just about to post this.

Sup Forums seems to forget it loves HM.

Maybe not the sequel but whatever.

I couldn't get over how shit the running looked in Mass Effect.

A friend of mine who played it before me even lied to my face telling it wasn't clunky at all when i expressed concerns after seeing gameplay trailers

>skintight outfits are only for fetishists
You're kidding, right? Skintight = emphasizing bodies = as close to naked as you can get = sexual, not necessarily or specifically fetishistic

>Skintight = emphasizing bodies = as close to naked as you can get = sexual, not necessarily or specifically fetishistic
Except it doesn't belong in a video game. It's purposely there to distract from the GAMEPLAY. Fetishists hate gameplay because it's too "problematic" and they can't masturbate when the game is asking them to interact.

The industry is headed for dark times.

>removing "latex" from the quote
also
>emphasizing nakedness in a video game

The point is that pandering is not the same thing as trying to look more mature through sex.

TW3 surpassed it.

They're two sides of the same coin. Either way, you spend time and money on something that isn't the gameplay. Both are equally punishable.

>f2p mobile gaming

Do you play Dwarf Fortress?

No

> It's a Japanese game of something that's traditionally considered western genres
Never seen a single game that wasn't shit that tried this. Action games and RPG's, and Action-RPG's are the worst offenders.

What's wrong with DF?

>skintight latex outfits
>not pandering

>multiplayer only
