I did months of research
I finally arrived to an OBJECTIVE conclusion
It was the color palette all along. AND (to a lesser extent) the cartoonty model designs
>99% of the atmosphere of 3 and NV came from the color palette

If you think the atmosphere was FO4's biggest problem you're objectively god damn retarded and don't belong on this board.
my research results are final and objective
you can order the best steak in the world BUT if its colored Blue; it will be shit no matter how it tastes
Literally the only improvement Fallout 4 made was the gunplay. Everything else took 2 steps back.
Because a bunch of retards did not know (and still don't know) what makes a good rpg. We will probebly never have another amazing fallout game like fallout 2 or NV
Both fallout 1 and 3 were miles ahead of either of those 2 meme games.
Show your math user.
Peer review is called for.
Uh huh... Sure user.
the equation is 3 pages long. its will be published
>99% of the atmosphere of 3 and NV came from the color palette
I sure do love variations on brown, green, and grey.
The colour and graphics were perfectly fine.
The Saturday morning cartoon writing and the gutted RPG mechanics are blatantly the real issues it sucks. I hope you're trolling.
you dont have to love it. it has to effect you not make you love it

Research THIS!
*unzips dick*
In Fallout 3 you were forced to play the role of a kid looking for his dad; all of your dialogue was childish in nature.
In 2 you were forced to play a tribal from arroyo who then talked in memes with everyone he met. Ill take childish over what a fucking atrocity 2 was to the franchise.
F4's art direction was one of the better design choices Bethesda did on the game.
Nah, though the style certainly didn't help, the true problems were as follows:
>Leveling system and no Special
I have never played such an unsatisfying leveling system in a while. Not only am I unable to create a character with proper strengths and weaknesses, thus removing a lot of actual Roleplaying, but it's incredibly basic and we all end up creating a jack of all trades archetype who excels in everything.
>The dialogue wheel
Yes/no/can you repeat that/sarcastic.
>Voiced character
Why does my character sound exactly the same no matter what kind of character I create? This destroys the RP possibilities because I'll always sound like a pseudo soft voiced cunt who feels like the exact same person every time I start up a new play through.
>Writing, characters and Factions
Completely unmemorable, and not only that, most of the time I find myself cringing at the awkward unfunny dialogue which is no longer in anyway believable, but try hard "witty" with no edge or realism. Characters are completely forgettable except for Nick, Strong and the annoying as fuck Piper, and factions are vague with no uniqueness or interesting motivations.
In the end, the worst sin the game committed was the lack of actual role playing allocated to us in a fucking role playing game. It's not a bad post apocalyptic sandbox shooter, and there are actual moments of brilliance when it comes to the creepy atmosphere and exploration, but it fails simply because it isn't truly a Fallout game.
Fallout 4 sure is fallout. As in its not something you want near you...
Fallout as in the thing that comes after a nuclear bomb explodes.
Wow, you're pretty smart!
Mommy says im smart k!
nope, just plain no challenge and mods are what make Bethesda games not Bethesda.
Fallout 3 loved the greens.
FNV loved the brown/yellow/orange.
Neither were an attractive look.
This
Fucking love those Protectron and other robot updates. And dat power armor animation, getting into those things ... hmmm yayuh.
More like a dialog cross.
Maybe if it had more options, I wouldn't mind guessing what the voice actor was going to say.
As for building a character with strengths and weaknesses, past level whatever you want, you're not obligated to select a new point into anything ... pretty sure that even at lower levels, it doesn't force you to pick anything. you can bank them points and just roll with the heavily-flawed character you have.
What appears to be a Penis but much smaller reveals itself.
I like all the Fallout main games, 1, 2, 3, nv, 4.
Each has a different brand of autism that I can handle.
Also atomic-punk stuff keeps me coming back.
The biggest issue I realized after getting my platinum was the story was simply too basic. The writing was bad, there wasn't many branches, each faction were all retardedly awful leading me to pick the institute because I didn't give a single fuck, characters were so damn flat I can hardly remember.. I liked the part where you go through that guys memories, now that was cool and unique but there just isn't much of this all around. In 3 an NV the side quests were actually interesting and kept you searching all over. F4 isn't a terrible game but it is very forgettable.
>level system/no special
What do you mean?
My first run was a stealth sniper, all my level up points were in stealth, long rifles, and adventuring (lockpicking, hacking, mods, etc). He was terrible at anything up close and personnel, kid.
Second was melee, power armor/science, and sucked 10 meters out.
You can specialize all you like, so long as you do the missions in a timely manner and don't try to get over lv50.
The quick entry/exit animations were orgasmic.
The game was fucking flawed with bugs.

...
>what went wrong with fallout 4
It was entirely phoned in.
...
and their fucking scales don't work
Played over 100 hours and didn't experience this even one time.
And every trap worked for me, so much that I eventually started crouch walking through dungeons.
blah blah blah story blah blah blah leveling blah blah blah dialog blah blah blah modding community
Literally everything, maybe except power armor but even that is subjective.
And by literally I mean LITERALLY. Even weapon/aromor customization are just a sad excuse to not bother with actual weapon variety, settlements are an excuse to not bother with world building, radiant quests are an excuse to not bother with actual quests and so on.
They really did everything in their power to deliver as little content and spend as little money on development as possible. The game sold purely on hype.
This :/
fan of fallout 3 too
4 is just shit
i liked the color palette a lot. it looked like a normal world (it actually had color), rather than be shit brown everywhere with toxic city levels green tint, or piss yellow one.
>it looked like a normal world
I beg to differ.
but user... there's a settlement that needs our help. i'll mark it on your map.
maybe a bit too oversaturated, but far better than having everything in shit brown to pretend "omg it's so realistic. everything is the color of dirt". look outside, is everything brown and gray?
or do things actually have colors? is grass green, is sky blue, are billboards colorful? are cars red, blue, orange, black, or are they all brown?
>look outside, is everything brown and gray?
Do we live in a post-nuclear wasteland?
You know it's funny, Sup Forums shits all over this game and people who enjoy it, but glorify shitty western weeabu trash like Souls series, DoA xteme and lolli anime bullshit.
I'm not saying this is GOTY or anything, but it's worth the money I spent on it.
atomic bombs don't drain color out of the environment. hiroshima and nagasaki are pretty damn colorful for being post nuclear wastelands, less than 100 years after taking a nuke to the face.
>atomic bombs don't drain color out of the environment.
Well they don't turn everything into wax figures either.
