Eternal GOG shilling thread

>Gaben in denial
>users leaving left and right
>Sup Forums complaining in full force
Is this the end of DRM for good?

Do your part, grab your free freedom copies, FUCK

It's a good idea, but GOG will never compete until it's taken more seriously by developers and publishers.

Even if GOG is willing to trust us to not pirate, Denuvo proves that a lot of companies are not.

>They need more users
Comooooon do it!

You get my point though. Steam works because it's a good store, and has a huge community.

GOG can win a few points on the DRM front, but they're going to have to look to capture other territories too if they want to move in on the Steam Dictatorship.

you can't escape the gaben Sup Forums

Steam sales are a meme now and I hate it.

The first couple of years they happened were amazing with big games being dropped to 90%.
Now we have games like GTA 5 raising their price before the sale to drop it 10% during the sale.
It's not even worth being excited for.
Worst part is people still act like the sales are good for some reason.

>users have to jump through hoops to have an inferior service
>they actually think non-autists will do this

nice try, pollack shill also Valve/Gaben don't lose any money with this process a few people might take on the meme buy gaben was already paid his pound of flesh

Publishers control their sales prices not Valve. Really funny that you're mad at Valve considering they've literally priced their games at >$40 even for their AAA releases.

...

And yet most of the time you can get games cheaper on Amazon now.

Galaxy looks nice
You don't even need to use it
They include extras and artwork and shit on each game

Steam community is a rusky den

Tge only thing Gog is missing is card jewing

for me they have insufficient payment methods
no maestro, no mobile, no qiwi

Is anyone else having trouble logging into their Steam account to connect it? Mine won't let me, even when I just try to regularly sign in on the Steam website, not the GoG page on Steam.

Also I only created a GoG account a while ago to get the Witcher on sale, but haven't touched it in months. I just logged back in and now there's a handful of games in my library I never bough. Does GoG just give you free games automatically once in a while? Or am I forgetting I redeemed those free games or something?

This. You can actually find similar deals on the Xbox Live or PSN summer sales. The main advantage Steam has during their sales is a much bigger library.

>Does GoG just give you free games automatically once in a while?
yes, I think everybody has 3 or 4 games by default

That's nice. Hopefully GoG stays that way as they grow bigger.

Only big problem I have with Galaxy is that you can't pause downloads

>Buy a brand new physical copy on Amazon for cheaper than the digital price
>Redeem the CD key on Steam anyway

Mine struggled to connect
I tried 2-3h later and it worked

>Saint Row 2

Do you hate yourself or something?

Yeah
you just have to login when the promo is up

Saints Row 2 runs okayish with the Gentlemen of the Row mod.

Which the GOG release includes per default.

As somebody who has over 800 games on steam, i think this is a really good backup plan in case steam dies/shuts down. I just wish more publishers would enter the program.

Gj gog for making me create an account.

Oh, nice I guess.

Wonder why they didn't do the same for Arcanum.

I guess because Activision hasn't made a deal with the modders of Arcanum.
The guy who made the Gentlemen of the Row mod got hired by Volition who liked his work.

>2458 games on Steam
>8 worked in GOG
Well, that was pointless.

Steam has more games than GOG has users.

Your anecdote doesn't mean that it's a constant for everyone.

Though 90% of those games are hot garbage.

How do I get free GOG games

And 90% of GOG users are faggots.

I can't play other peoples' games, now can I?

And 90% of Steam users are faggots.

90% of people in general are faggots.

Advertising is against board rules.

Only about 15% of the games I have are on GOG.
Not going to switch unless it's all advantages and, of course, I can get all the library in there.

>think about buying a game on gog
>just buy it on steam instead
what's the point of playing a videogame if my friends can't see I'm playing it
I know gog galaxy exists but no one fucking uses it

If only, friend. If only.
One of the rules that aren't enforced by the shill-mods.

It's only the start.
They plan to add more games.

The list of potential games is long.

>Witcher 2+3
>Baldurs Gate 1+2 Enhanced
>Saints Row 4
>Dying Light
>Metro 2033 and Last Light
>Tomb Raider, Legacy of Kain, Anachronox and Thief
>the Risen and Gothic games
>Postal
>Pillars of Etenity
>the Divinity games
>more Topware titles like Two Worlds 2 or the Earth 21X0 games
>Bethesda titles
>Oddworld
>the Star Wars games
>Indies like La Mulana or Terraria

>switch
Huh? Why not just use both, which you're already doing?

>what's the point of playing a videogame if my friends can't see I'm playing it

wait, do people actually think like this?

>what's the point of playing a videogame if my friends can't see I'm playing it

What kind of logic is this?

No reason to use it unless I bought a game cheaper in there.

>Keysite games
>Redeem on Steam
>Connect to GOG
How dooes GOG make money from this spectacle?

Exactly. And you said you already have 15% of your games on gog so clearly you're buying games there if they're cheaper.
I just don't know what you mean by "switch", abandon steam completely for no reason?

>Steam games work on GOG
>GOG games don't work on Steam

Gaben in denial, eh? More like GOG filing for bankruptcy.

Torrent sites. It's literally the same download you'd get from GOG itself. Sometimes people even upload megacollections of many GOG games.

It's temporary with the games changing frequently and overall it only exists to make people use GOG.

GOG, Origin and Uplay need to give the palyers a few freebees in order to damage the monopoly position of Steam.

It is a publisher deal

Publishers win by getting people out of steam
gog wins by people testing tge service and galaxy

No, what I said is that only 15% of my Steam games are, or, according to these lists, will be, compatible with GOG.
Don't have any game on my GOG account aside from some free ones.

Publishers and devs want to hurt Steam because Steam having absolute market control is bad for them.

So they don't mind giving sites like GOG a bit free stuff.

Steam dominating the market without opposition would be the worst for everyone.

>Publishers win by getting people out of steam
That makes sense. Competition is a good thing, I guess.

I would prefer to be completely invisible on steam

I see I misunderstood that completely
gog has some pretty fucking cheap games but whenever I see anything on sale, I already own it on steam

offline mode

This move by Gog is basically: next time you think about buying a titlem do it on Gog
>galaxy
>chat
>Friends
>achievements

Would anyone want any of those games?

I mean Saints Row is a maybe, but I think I've had enough fun with that fantastic PC port.

Give me the ability to port all my games to GOG and I will move off Steam, I don't like people seeing what I play.

nice tip

>go offline mode
>people still message me
>''Dude, why are you always away?''

>all these modern games
Huh? I thought the entire point of GOG was packaging old games so they work on modern OS's

But you can.

Yeah like one of the main advantages of actually buying games instead of just pirating is that I can flaunt my taste.

What? You don't have to add anyone or ever even give anyone your profile link. Are you retarded

That's hardly a problem with Steam though. Why do you have people on Steam that you hate talking to?

Thats one of their pillars.

The other thing is promoting DRM-free games.

>user missing that steam is a subscription, but gog is identical to physical

>Two Worlds

Actually one of the worst RPGs I have ever played.

Their focus is on older games, which use way less bandwidth.

And Bethesda games aren't coming, especially not the recent ones that are Steam-exclusive.

>OH WOW MY ABANDONWARE $1 HUMBLE BUNDLE SHIT GAMES WORK ON GOG XD
whoop de doo

Who here searches for GOG in torrent sites?
>godtier copies/editions

>And Bethesda games aren't coming
I was refering to the ones that already are on Steam like Morrowind, Quake, Doom and Wolfenstein

Yeah sometimes you can get cheaper meat at Walmart instead of costco too.
>DON'T SHOP AT WALMART THEY HAD MEAT AT PRICES HIGHER ONCE
Kek

*already on GOG

>earching for a torrent from a website that sells torrented games in the first place

What does this mean to me?

Meanwhile at PSN

I thought the only enforced rule was "No fun allowed"

don't worry, o cautious one

>The quality of gtav5 diminishes if you get it cheaper

Retard.

Source?

I have real life friends and family seeing me waste all my time on games, don't like that.

Man I still remember missing out on free empire earth from gog like 5 years ago, when they gave away free games every couple months. My old ass cd is scratched to shit and lost the expansion
Now buying it feels wrong but I want to digitally "own it"

What should I play on my GOG backlog?

Robinhood is fun.

That's the one that's like Commandos, right? Really gotta replay it sometime

Yeah. A bit too easy and exploitable, but still fun.

Surgeon Simulator was silently added to the Connect list.

great, now I will buy it, heh

>NBA2k16
>Gone Home

Why I find that so funny.

>itt:GoG shilling

It doesn't, I just don't get why people seem to demonize stores for not having the exact same prices for everything.

What does the Rat Catcher have to do with it?

flautist = GoG
flute = GoG Connect
rats = steam users

lol

>Free game
>Needs to pay a monthly fee

gratis != free
Your freedoms are respected a little more on GOG then steam, though it still is problematic

Full Definition of gratis

: without charge or recompense : free

This.
I've never had a single issue with Steam, ever, aside from them not having a good policy for refunds on vaporware and making trading a little difficult.

>Game crashes as soon as I beat the first level
epic. I'll try Corsairs

>sign up for our service and get some games you already own, maybe
i don't think they thought this through

how do i install the blood and wine expansion using galaxy directly?
is it possible?
