How are the hype levels?
Anyone else excited for Hearts of Iron to drop in three days?
I for one am looking forward to uniting Europe under one flag the Soviet flag.

>releasing a game on fucking monday
looks boring
just play risk
>buying Paradox games on launch
>buying Paradox games at all
I respect your wrong opinion and will defend your right to be wrong on the internet.
Who said anything about buying? I'll only buy it when I see it works well.
Even though their preorder bonuses are nice, and I am tempted, its a matter of principle at this point.
>not just playing Darkest Hour
I dig Paradoxs movements towards intelligent player-directed AI systems. People shit on it, but i just really love to be more of a ''manager'' than a ''Micro-manager''. Creating plans and strategies and so on and witnessing how they unfold without having to do every single thing myself.
I'm not sure but i think they have simplified the production system vastly, which i dislike
Sorry, i'm not into facebook tier games
>Sup Forums - third person console action game ports and internet celebrity discussion
Don't forget overwatch kiddo :^)
I hope we get unit counters like in HoI3, those 3d models are useless and provide no information of the units
>playing HoI2
>win as Germany
>get sad because I will never live in that world
I can see that neo Sup Forums will hate HOI4, it is not cartoony enough to be as good as overwatch and not cinematic enough to be as good as Uncharted
let's not forget it does not include some drama with celebrities
It has Stalin and Hitler, give it time and it will generate a Kotaku or Polygon article, then we can discuss it.
WW2 does not interest me that much, and i never could get into HoI3. This series is the one from Paradox that i care about the least. Liked EU:Rome more than HoI3.
>buying Paradox games
Enjoy your fuhrer mana, lmao
It's going to be buggy, casualized shit which needs 50 dlcs and overhaul mods to be actually playable.
Victoria 3 fucking when?
>>releasing a game on fucking monday
they always do this so they can fix critical bugs in time for the weekend
They release it on 6. because it's D-day
>newfags that dont know hoi2 and dont remember hoi3 launch
You are the reason why eu4 and hoi3 happened.
inb4 but hoi3 is good game
I've had a good 500 hours with BlackICE but jesus the crashening
>BlackICE
you mean the mod where everything plays out the same every time and the AI even cheats to achieve that outcome?
>yfw you will never play hoi2 multiplayer ever again
>do a 1x1 against a cocky fatass
>he agrees to the molotov ribentrop pact
>then refuses to give me the eastern part of polska
>event lets me dow but with 10 dissent
RIP in piece
>casual shit
fuck off
also this
It'll be a buggy unfinished piece of shit and you know it. It won't be playable until you buy two extra expansions at full price.
I'm kinda hyped, have been watching the twitch streams and its looking good
But
It is Paradox and the chances of it being balanced at launch are slim to none
I think I'll wait another month and let the first big patch come out.
So Hype™!
Preordedred 3 copies and 10 friends on fb did too!
We gonna totally stop hitler lolz
Honestly, my biggest problem is that only a few nations will have personalized research trees, ideas, plans, etc.
If you want to play a nation other than Germany, France, UK, USA, Russia, Italy, Japan or Poland, you will be stuck with generic uninspired ideas.
Those nations will also probably perform very poorly as a result, even when scale is taken into account.
>another strategy game where playing as China is boring as fuck
Been watching quills italian playthrough and it seems pretty fun despite things being watered down like the Order of Battle.
Kind of want to try playing a nationalist Spain.
China personalized ideas will probably be DLC.
Pay up, goym.
i hope you mean under the trotsky soviets flag.
Honestly, I kinda like that they simplified the OoB. That shit was always a fucking pain in the dick to micromanage on larger nations in my opinion.
One of the QA guys (Dan) addressed this in one of the twitch, he was playing as Hungary on the generic tree. Apparently they've taken pains to make it competitive.
But clearly it'll lack flavour (and allow Paradox to sell us more DLC)
Oh gods; I bet they will DLC it too, imagine it... "Fall of 2017 HoI 4 - Specific country trees, $1 each.
Lastly; I'm not too fussed about nations being underpowered in these types of games. Playing the under-dog is half the fun.
pretty high but I am going to have to go though a coin jar to get it, already blew all my money on weeb shit and down to eating 30 cent ramen
Thats because europa universalis mentality doesnt work in hoi/ww2 scenario.
You arent supposed to find the same level of polish when comparing Germany to Mexico.
>another strategy game where playing as China is boring as fuck
China is the most fun country for me.
>play nat china
>fight off japan
>research whatever you want
>do whatever you want, join axis, allies or commies
>play later scenario
>pick commie china
>wait for perfect time to strike against nat china
>join comintern or stay on ur own
>attack soviets and annex the shit out of them
>or start ww3
I doubt it, China has always been half assed, in all their games.
Even in Vicky 2 if you form the heavenly kingdom you're stuck with a game of nothing because they don't have any decision besides Geneva convention, military industrial complex and that other generic one.
the basic national focus trees cover everything you would want to do anyway.
and its not like they could make anything specific for china except regarding the civil war in either uniting the warlods or not.
Will small nations at least have their accurate parties, people, portraits and war goals and such?
Like Bulgaria, Greece, Denmark, Lithuania tier countries.
IMO the order of battle in HoI3 was an unnecessary level of detail which "hopefully" the new game will have abstracted out with "organisation points" or something similar.
I'm also hoping they have tidied up the convoy system and air combat. Just done a HoI3 playthrough as the UK and having to re-optimise my anti-submarine defence every month is a pain in the arse!
there was a shitload going on with China at that time, Chiang Kai-shek was stuck between the allies and the axis, his adopted son was a commander in the Nazi Germany army, he enlisted the defeated Japanese troops to fight Mao, that ended up costing him popular support, etc...
really, for a WW2 centric game there is a lot to explore on an alternate history standpoint.
I dont know m8. If its anything like hoi2 and hoi3, countries still have their historical claims.
For Lithuania it would be
>Vilnius, Grodno and Lida
Bulgaria
>todays macedonia and bordering regions from turkey and greece
thats all true but you can join whatever faction you want more or less bychanging your governement type etc.
theres also a chance for germany to stay helping china instead of japan anyway. i get that there wont be much flavor focuses, but there are still some events for china.
I've heard it's being dumbed down. Is it being dumbed down lads?
yes it is in some ways. probably the only time in my life that i dont think that its a bad thing.
Its being dumbed down on the same level as eu4 was compared to eu3.
Paradox philosophy has changed from
>letting a player create what they want and the world adopting to that
to
>creating a set of possibilities and then trying to limit the player as much as possible to those possibilities
>wanting to play as China and expect it to not be boring as fuck
There are multiple Bethesda threads, Nintendo threads, Metal Gear threads, a Watch Dogs thread, and a shit ton of JRPG shit threads, and you get triggered by HOI 4 as it being "casual shit"?
This board is perpetually shit. It perplexes the mind how a bunch of people who habitually play Square Enix shit think they're "hardcore"
More macro, less micro.
Its not being "dumbed down", its being changed. For the better, if you ask me.
looking for troubles there lardo, late Ming to Mao China is enough for a GS game by itself.
is flying bomb best weapon ever created in hoi3? Playing as GB and found them useful in bombing France to ashes
Fucking SU OoB arrangement, never again, thank God
Some people want to actually have to spend 2 hours setting up command chains that should already be done before starting the game, and I find that hard to believe.
This shit, is ridiculous especially when they are all out of order to start with.
Yes, just wait for the moaning as paratroopers manage to destroy production in countries because lolnostockpiles. They all cried about how HoI3 was deterministic too, when they made it like that through the dlcs. Base game HoI3 was pretty open and it was a load of shit. They just simply haven't learned.
>no key mapping in options
>no WASD to move map
>ww2 game
>wants to play Argentina
why?
Argentina was actually pretty interesting, it was Axis aligned but was the main provider of meat to England through neutral Ireland, and was actually aligned to the Axis by a british organized coup so that the Argie boats wouldn't be sunk by the u-boats
This. Less micromanagement is a good thing in this case
bump for discussion
TRAVAIL, FAMILLE, PATRIE
and remember no semite
A lot of generic portraits are used for irrelevant countries. I was watching Ddrjake play as El Salvador and pretty much everyone in Central and South America has the same portrait
NATO counters have been confirmed and will be avaible on release.
hoi 2 is just perfection. no need for shiny graphics.
>i have no idea about gameplay changes, so forgive me.
Is this image you ?
