The most useless weapon in MH is a bad hunter!

Nyantahs

It's insect glaive.

Not because it's bad, but because of the innate mind-controlling sentience they all have which apparently makes everyone mount all the gOD DAMN TIME.

But I like lances. Sidestepping and poking and countering is fun.

Think of a new weapon category GO

Sword and Shield exists

Don't worry, because of the aerial style in MHX everyone will be trying to mount all the god damn time instead of just Glaives.

Time to get ready for more je suis monte.

Sword and Shield.

>Rawfag

A corkscrew rapier that can expand to 5m or turn into a pig you swing by its tail.

Dual GS

Gauntlets, punch the shit out of monsters. Extremely close range, extremely damaging.

hire this man

How would that even work

Oi be careful what you say.

I mained Lances in the first and third generations, and Used them up until G rank in 4U.

Also on the first one pretty much everyone who wasn't a gunner used a lance.

Except Aerial Glaive lets them fly across the screen like turbo-nerds, so they'll still be going for those mounts.

Lances aren't that bad, OP. Perhaps kinda boring sometimes, but MH4 gave you leaping charges, swinging behind you, perfect evading at all times, and so-on. Anyone who says SnS doesn't know how to sleep-bomb or style-bomb and/or cannot appreciate the ridiculous versatility it offers.

The actual most useless is probably the bow, because the guns do it better, generally speaking. But the bow is still fun. Can't wait to try out how everything feels in MHG with the styles.

I lost hundreds of hours of my life to 4U. I can imagine Generations being no different.

Hunting Horn a cool, Great Sword a best, Tonfas never and when's Hammer-hybrid weapon in the style of switch-axe/gun-lance/charge-blade?

Lances were the highest DPS weapon in the 3 series and are one of the highest in 4. They also have the highest skill ceiling alongside the GS and are, quite frankly, one of the funnest weapons to use in the game.

you wield one of them with both hands while you pivot on the other which is firmly lodged inside your anus

kill yourself shitter

God I've been dying for some manly monster punching action. If Capcpom wanted to be lazy, they could just give it a shoto character moveset and call it a day.

...

Gunlance actually. Aside from the Roman memes, they're pretty awful. Hopefully they get boosted in later games.

those are dual blades, are you blind?

>JE SUIS MONTE
>JE SUIS MONTE
>JE SUIS MONTE
>JE SUIS MONTE

Tonfas exist but people cry about them being implemented into mainline because they're too anime for MonHun apparently.

I think the boost they got on MHX is very nice, allowing you to heat them up for better stabbing damage.
Tonkas or Tokvas or whatever they're called?

Small energy based katana focused on Iajutsu.

Combat is centered around performing draw attacks, when you do a draw attack your character is either
A:Stuck in a sheathing animation, if you complete the animation you get one charge, maximum of five.
B:You can perform two follow up attacks and roll out, no charge gained.

You can use charges to perform stronger individual draw attacks, or you can use all current charges to perform a draw attack that deals damage proportionate to current charges.

NICE ROMAN !

I want gunlance to actually have a ranged firing move. I'd love mobile mortar action. HBG siege mode is cool, but I want to use my gunlance like an artillery piece.

Sadly, it stops being fun once you're in a party. I try spacing myself from other players, but they usually don't give a fuck and rush in swinging no matter where I am.

The main reason people complain about them (other than idiots blatantly forgetting how anime every other weapon is) is because they're unbelievably overpowered compared to every other weapon in Frontier, and they're also the only one locked behind a level-cap. So once you unlock tonfas, you use only tonfas.

Lances are pretty neato actually.

>short long sword which is even more an anime than LS

That's great actually. I'll try them out again once we get MHX. I have a lot of really good GL from guild quests but always choose other weapons.

Maybe you fags are tri babies and forgot that lances were top tier in first game. The only weapon that was consistently not that great was sns.

It's about as anime as greatsword crit draw.

get yer godamn chinese bootlegs out this thread

Ironically, Lances were at their absolute peak in Tri.

It's the strongest in MHX, but only because its self buff HA is ridiculously good.

There's a SnS in MHX which has a katana and the shield model is just a nearly-invisible ring on your finger. The anime dream is real friend.

your post is irrelevant, no one plays the original monhun

I'd rather play the first one than the casual hunter that's coming out.

was the LS round house slash not enough jesus christ

i feel sorry for you

This is going to sound boring, but I think a non-transforming Great Axe could be a good addition. Long reach and good for cutting tails. CA likes to be on head with impact phial and swax never really felt like either mode with satisfying and its power lies in constant mode switching.

If I had to go for a WACKY CRAZY weapon then I'd want a polearm/kusarigama hybrid.

First post best post

There are no bad weapons in Mh

>The actual most useless is probably the bow, because the guns do it better, generally speaking. But the bow is still fun. Can't wait to try out how everything feels in MHG with the styles.

Are you stupid or something? Bow is beyond broken in MHX, to the point that it outdamages even GS. It was also in the top 5 in MH4U in terms of speedrun times.

That's nice friend. I reciprocate the notion.

uw8 m8, bow is slow in 4U

Gunlance is the correct answer. It's probably top 2 for me in terms of time spent playing it, but the sheer weakness, lack of mobility, and number of moves that can be used to send teammates flying gives it the title of most useless.

A mount.

You ride a creature and attack using the creature, rather than having a weapon.

God damn Boomerang
I want to go full Abo on monsters.

>monster hunter stories

This. I just recently started with a friend and told them to do the trainings til then found a weapon that clicked. They tried SnS, lance, DB and felt frustrated, but they liked the bugstick. I cringed, but held my tongue. I decided to go LS after a CA focus on my main hunter and I found I liked. I think my friend does IG better than I do LS. They do good with their mounts and don't spam it in bad situations, yet I keep tripping them on accident with my edgy spirit combo.

It's all about how you play it.

Check the JP speedruns. using Steve bow (with a proper skills) gives you top tier hunt times.

>using any bow but Steve

I bet you also use SnS that isn't Teostra with the Empress set.

Actually changed my mind

Beastmaster

You pick from a monster type and get a couple of them. You can order them to locations or targets on monsters. They take damage and get wounded (or die) if you let them get hit.

Would be fun. Having to make sure you keep them alive as well as keeping yourself alive.

I've always wanted a 2handed spear that would be about mobility and agility. Too bad it overlaps with the retarded inscet glaives now.

A cannon. Its gimmick is basically HH, where you have 4 different shots that can be chained to activate distinct powerful attacks, instead of a song. I say cannon, but it's really more of a fireworks kind of thing.

A penis

You fuck monsters with it

now this i can get behind

Milky Holmes director spotted.

Gunlance is just a worse lance with some explosions.
And I use GL somewhat frequently

Where do I start to get into MH

either get mh4u or wait for generations

Pick up one of the games. 3U or 4U might be best, or you can just wait until X comes out
Slog through the tutorial
Find a weapon you like
Hunt some actual monsters
Have fun

>tfw Mainline MH is doomed to be forever stuck on shit handhelds with garbage resolution and textures
FUCKING KILL ME ALREADY

Shield Arms. Giant fists that can fold into a shield if you hold a button. Has guard points during the first few frames of blocking. If a monster hits the guard point, you get to charge one phial and you can charge a total of three. If you attack after the guard point, you use your phials to do an uppercut. One Phial gets a short uppercut. Two Phials gives you a jumping uppercut. Three Phials give you an uppercut that ends with you slamming your fists to the ground. Your regular attacks move you a lot, which is why you can side step/dash in every direction to reposition yourself and you can only block while you're not doing anything or after a sidestep/dash.

Just pick up whatever the latest one is. They put basically every monster and weapon from previous games in each one, so you're really not missing out on anything.

I suggest 4U, since Gen's 30 fps cap and giant battle ui might put you off. I know I am, and I kinda like the game.

Something like Nevan from DMC3. A more offensive version of the Hunting Horn

Make throwing knives its own weapon category. You get a max amount of knives that regenerate as you spend them. Knives that have hit the monster can be retreived instantly, but you have to get close to that knife-filled ass and pull them out, which makes the monster fucking pissed at you.

I thought that each individual knife would do less damage than a single LBG regular shot (although you can spam like crazy), but depending on how many knives you have you can combine several of them into one throw. If you use the attack that uses your max amount of knives and botch it, you're gonna look pretty stupid.

Maybe there could be like a combo system where if you land X knives on the head, Y knives on the wings and Z knives on the legs, then the monster just explodes with red mist for a lot of damage and maybe a status effect.

>i'm poor and can't afford a 3ds

4U is my first MH, I've soloed most of it and currently sitting on an almost 100% Guild Card. Capcom's spring sale has 3U cheap, is it worth it? Will I be able to complete the game by myself or is there multiplayer content required? What about past DLCs?

>Have to position to the rear or head for beefy dick hits
>Spirit guage like the LS
>Tripping people with your Diablos horn codpiece
>Mounting monsters get a little more interactive
>Black Diablos fights are actually interesting
>Butt fucking a rathian while rathalos is stuck in a pitfall trap

they nerfed the shell damage so unless you it's actually a damage loss overall, with styles it doesn't matter though the game because easy as fuck and every weapon is way too strong

>Inflicting Bleed on Monster parts
>Doing HP percentage damage to make up for lower DPS than the LBG/HBG
>Regenerating Knives

I'll take a fuckign picture of my 3DS right now you cunt, I just hate that I can't play MH on an actual fucking platform.

>cuck a rathalos
can i use a black diablos cod piece for this?

MH4U weapon tier reminders.

If you're butthurt about hammer's placement, move it up one place.

user you can just play mho with english patch if you're so bothered about pretty grafix

It's not just the shitty resolution, it's the tiny babby screen and how uncomfortable it is to play on that piece of shit.

The 3DS hurts my hands like a fucking toblerone.

>Carried the hunt tier
>HBG

Shit. What? I never feel like I really do anything with my HBG

oh so you can't afford a new 3ds xl then

>not knowing about monster hunter online
Its legit

me too. My most complains about 3ds MH is screen resolution and hand tiring (the bottom part of 3ds is just NOT comfortable for long plays, speaking about both XL and regular sizes)

Fuck off with this shitty meme, I'm not eating Nintendo's shit and buying a SLIGHTLY larger 3DS that's going to keep being uncomfortable anyways.

HANDHELDS ARE FUCKING SHIT

SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

Furia Sedition for solo/most group quests. It's a great all-purpose HBG that reloads a shot with every roll. Honed for attack, and some skills added, it deals a ton of damage.

There's also Gravios Gigacanon for hame runs. It shreds monsters if used properly.

it's still a shitter version of monster hunter frontier

I always had this idea for a rapier weapon, but it was hard to not make it SnS without the shield. So then I thought "what if the rapier is just the end result of using a weapon?"

Then I saw my old yoyo while cleaning out the attic. Then it hit me. A spinning Axe.

>Short Range like the Hammer
>Has a gauge that you need to charge with your slow attacks
>Once the gauge is at least halfway full, you can throw the head of the axe at the monster
>Spins in place at the part it landed at
>Full Gauge lets it stay in place for ten seconds, doing one attack per second
>Aiming it at the head with an impact/status phial does what you'd expect it to
>"String" becomes a long rapier that lets you do thrust attacks that move you forward like a dash with sidestep canceling mid-animation
>Have to recall your axe manually if you don't want to go through a long animation of reattaching it

Basically you Let it Rip after charging and you commit yourself to loads of burst damage in exchange for your regular mode not having consistent damage.

Speaking of MHO, I see they made a monster that's essentially Fatalis and Alatreon combined. I don't know what I think about this. Also hitboxes

youtube.com/watch?v=GmxQYzyvKzI

>slightly larger
well it says here on my limited edition pikachu edition 3ds xl (worth over £300 boxed) that the screen is 300% bigger

any handheld have a tiny little screen

And you're 300% fucking stupid for buying that piece of shit, you faggot.

too true

well your fucking fault for choosing the wrong sword

Brutal/10 would hunt with

That looks awful, the new animations look like shit and that tracking reminds me of Dark Souls II Lava Lizards

the tears of the poor make me drunk with joy

why are you hitting the monster when they are mounted
