I beat Ballos exactly once. I don't feel like doing the time trial, though.

I gave myself 100 extra health using a life pot I added using the level editor of the game and also put multiple save points throughout Hell to make sure I went into Ballos at full health
I still almost lost to Ballos

I did, by the time I pulled it off I got so good I didn't even need the health pot.

Is that La-Mulana? If so, yeah, I did. Had to resort to a guide after beating Palenque, because darn it, you get lost easily in this game than in Super Metroid after not playing it for a month.

I did eventually beat it, yeah, but it took a long time because it got to the point where I'd try it a few times, quit for a few days, try again, quit for a few days again, rinse and repeat.

It wasn't really worth the effort in the end.

I made a Curly Brace mod that was set 7 years before Cave Story I uploaded to their forum but I never finished it. I got pretty far into it but quit when I had to make a water part. I still got the mod, maybe I'll work on it again.

I know the game too well unfortunately, nothing provides a challenge in terms of casual playthroughes for me. Probably my favorite game ever made, simply flawless to me.

Still beating hell in under 2 minutes or the "hard mode" in the newer versions are still a bit much for me.
