Just use the bones of the area, he always gets stuck with them, the IA is pretty bad.

I prefer melee, magic isn't as fun and I'd also have to keep mana items on me.
Regardless, Freke keeps telling me "But at my age, I do not believe that I can be of help to you" when I talk to him at Nexus so I doubt I can trade anything with him. Unless I need to raise my INT to even be able to talk to him.

I thought the only way to get to him was to go right from the archstone and then carefully fall down to the bottom of the huge hole. You don't have to fight anyone that way but it does cost you a bit of health.

You can take the long way and it also goes to him, but it takes ucking forever

Exploding things were shown in 2-2 in order to let you know that they exist as a hazard in the game

True, I just ran through the whole area wihout exploring anything. Why they would make this and then make Blighttown is beyond me.

The random chance that you get hit off the ledge is what makes it hard, eventually you learn to stay near the flame in the center and then it becomes incredibly easy.

I always assumed the center was a trap and stayed on the bridge
