Tournament meta isn't skill, it's just learned hard-reads and for a simplified mind game. Most tournament players aren't good, they don't go for the combos that requires frame-perfect execution. They go for the easy stuff only- really says nothing about the player's technical ability.

I've won tournaments before and even played against Mewtwo King. Tournament play is mostly about guessing games and luck for 99% of players.

The reason why Daigo remained in the top-spot for so many years is because he's one of the few players that actually has a higher level of technical skill.
