Very few annons are old enough to know about Goemon OP.
I know about Goemon, user.
Mystical Ninja and Goemon's Great Adventure were deeply rooted in my childhood. I really should get around to playing them again.
The 2 most underrated games on n64 involve our good friend Goeman. Mystical ninja is ocarina and Mario 64 combined ;it should be more popular
fuck i loved this game
shame the sequel was a meme
The opening song will never not be stuck in my head.
I fucking love this game so much. I still pop it in now and again. One of the best N64 games imo. Thanks for the notalgiapost op.
I remember playing that with a friend, took us forever to beat it because at the time we couldn't save the game? I think you needed the rumble pack or something, I don't remember, but we'd always play in short bursts getting further every time.
Man once we got little Ebisumaru and his camera and that early dragon fight, we just lost it. Damn good times.
>playing Impact Boss fights in Mystical Ninja
>only know how to do hard punch, light punch, yen shot, and pipe grab
>play Goemon's Great Adventure and pausing the game shows that he has a bunch of different attacks depending on the button combination
>go back and play Mystical Ninja and do the button combinations from GGA in the Impact fights
>it works
I'm surprised there's never been a meme that involved Impact's face yet.
you hear it, you lose
>PURASUMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>shame the sequel was a meme
What?
DASH DASH DASH
>tfw used to sing along to the theme song in mock-japanese every time i turned the game on
This was the gradual entry point of my weebshit life. Fuck you, Goemon.
This character freaked me the fuck out when I was a kid for some reason.
Well I lost immediately.
>tfw when you havent played this in damn near 20 years but remember the entire song from these sequences
>mfw when some spiky haired dude named Fernando keeps calling me a weirdo
I listened to it earlier today too and decided to watch a random speedrun of the game, hadn't thought of the game in years, and now I see a thread on Sup Forums.
Nice. What's everyone's favorite level? I was always really fond of the snow area for some reason.
Both Goemon games on the N64 had God-tier music
youtube.com
It's fuzzy, but the heavily forested area where you find the li'l ninja robot dude is so fucking comfy. I can see it vividly but can't remember its name.
ORE WA
snow level was fucking great
ghost toys castle is up there too
mystical ninja had so much unconventionally awesome shit in it. everything from the music to the enemies and environments is top tier
>not posting Gorgeous My Stage
youtube.com
easily the best scene in the game
That underground festival temple was really cool. My favorite dungeon by far (Though the sub was great too)
GORGEOUS
I actually own Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for Nintendo 64. I seriously think I've played it like twice, each time no longer than probably an hour. This thread is convincing me to try it out.
>my face when replay as an adult and find out you can do some ORAORAORA shit
>mfw you play it as an adult and you finally get all the humor
I wasn't a very bright kid.
>That feel when you accidentally activate the special attacks
>B B A
>C-Up, C-Down, C-Up, A [ATATATATA]
>B, B, B, A [kick]
>Laser
There more to these fights than one would imagine.
Also post best music:

>Submarine Castle
I just randomly listen to this shit sometimes. So fucking good!
I played through this game and many other N64 titles as someone who didn't natively speak English. Needless to say I missed out on a lot of the humor and quirks that I later discovered when replaying the game as an adult.
How absurd the story was, and the dialogue between the characters. Which only made me enjoy it more, because even though I didn't understand the story or dialogue before, I still enjoyed the gameplay, level design, and soundtrack. All of that combined created a wonderful experience.
An experience which I later enjoyed co-op in Mystical Ninja 2, with my brother.
Hell yes, the whole goddamn soundtrack is incredible.
I really miss when games were just silly and not trying to be serious masterpieces. We need more silly games that aren't just indie games.
There seems to always be a Goemon thread every weekend, and I approve.

And the only good thing to come from the more Serious games: youtube.com
I can beat this game in 5 hours because I've played it so many times. Fucking love Goemon.
> That feel when younger gamers will never understand Goemon and will just assume everything is a shill or a trend.
>Tfw never completed Mystical Ninja 2 because friends are casual fucks who give up due to difficulty
I'm 25. I've wanted to beat this fucking game for nearly 15 years.
do it single player, it's worth it
Dude, I fucking know. I feel your pain. The amount of times I have tried to introduce Goemon to my friends is unreal. They just don't get it.
I dunno man, I've only ever played it co-op.
I feel like I missed something with this, you know? Both me and my childhood bro had the first game, and completed it on our own, then we found out the second on came out and had co-op but he just kept giving up.
Feels shit to be honest.
Why did we have to be the "not casual" of our friends? Its a fucking burden.
>No mate, COD is shit, knock it off.
>No, really, mate, stop buying so much DLC
>Lad, for fuck sake, don't buy Early Access shit
>Mate for fuck sake you don't need a season pass
and so on
it burns my fucking soul
Me and my own brother played the ever-loving shit out of both the Goemon games on the N64.
We sucked ass at the Goemon's Great Adventure and never got very far either, but we still had quite a lot of fun playing it.
I dont know why but i've never felt any "love" for any videogame but Mystical Ninja.
Always there's that feel of: "I want to play that game again" with the series.
Too bad NDS game was never translated.
>be years ago
>just start internship at local radio station
>snow storm on the way
>get sent home early
>cars get stuck on highway, but since I missed the storm I'm home ok
>get cozy
>turn on TV, browse Sup Forums
>user is streaming Mystical Ninja
>out to get the Battery for Sasuke
>tfw that moment, though nothing special, was deeply rooted in my memory and whenever anyone mentions Goemon, I recall it.
GGA was one of my favorite games growing up. Still play it from time to time. Those castle levels were long as fuck though.
Why is the title screen like that? Is that the PAL version?
Also, I just rebought the game again recently. Still regret selling my copy as a kid.
Fuck mate, I remember that. It took me fucking forever to find Sasuke's batteries.
I think it was a major progress stopper for me, I have some memories about that as well.
>tfw no more Goemon after DS
>tfw Goemon PS3 was cancelled
It still hurts
any translation patches for the DS games?
Care to reference to what you mean? I'm from Europe and I'm not sure the difference you're talking about.
>shame the sequel was a meme
go get fucked
PURASSSSUUMMMMAAAAAA
...
...
Nope, only nip
There was a guy who tried to translate it but at the end he just dropped
thanks I can read moon
I can't. How hard is it? How long would it take me to learn?
>when you finally realise what that big brown thing you saw throughout the castle was
This boss scared the shit out of me as a kid
>Turned the Castle European
>But it's still japanese on the inside
Stop triggering childhood memories I forgot I had you fucking faggot.
don't stop
Represent, Ganbare Goemon fans
I dunno user
My grandmother is japanese, I learned from her when I was kid
I'm actually re-playing it right now!
I'm about to enter the Festival Temple as well. I'm kind of dreading finishing it because I have to do Goemon's Strength Training afterwards (the only part of this game I actively hate).
> that feel when you could never do some of his attacks as a kid
Are you kidding?
My brother was 6 and I was 9, and we could fucking bounce every single boss in Goemon's Great Adventure back and forth with repeated punches into kick in the two player fights.
...You realize Impact has more than two fucking attacks, right?
Or are you the one who's kidding?
Yeah, of course.
It was just more efficient to bop him back and forth with that combo though. We always tried to finish everyone off with the laser, but I sucked ass at finding openings during the charge time.
You have ten seconds to post the castle theme that got you the most hyped when you were a kid.
Transformed Edo Castle Floor 2 is probably my choice.
This one is also fucking awesome.
>Underworld Castle
Muh Nugga
Konami used to be awesome, they actually optimised the pal versions to be full screen and full speed.
> no localized console games after N64
> only 5 localized games total
Why? The two N64 games defined my childhood and are still fun as hell today.
Anyone played this great adventure beat 'em up game yet?
>dat Otami-chan
There is a campaign for Suikoden going on right now. everyone go harass Konami for more classic IP.
I blame this game for becoming a weaboo.
Ended up falling in love with the appearance of Japanese food due to the submarine level.
I wonder if copies of this can be found anymore. Beat it as a kid but only ever had the chance to rent it.
I miss goemon
DATTTSOO~
I'm a huge fucking nerd who cried when i first crafted this jacket.
Goemon spoiled me as a kid. The soundtrack was GOAT and I expected every other game to be the same.
