How did they take the theme of "Generic Space Marine" for making Doom Guy's armor, and still make such a fucking sexy looking armor piece that looks iconic and awesome as fuck? You can't tell me that the Praetor suit isn't 10/10 sexy.

I never noticed it before but i love the fringe around his neck its like a big fuck you to halo
Looks like generic Doom 3/Quake 4 shit with more details.
My favorite thing about it is beneath the green plating isn't generic black tights or something like that, it looks like leather which is pretty unique for sci fi armor. The black on your hands looks comfy.
looks nice but I still wish the helmet was closer to the original
I kind of miss leather-gloved, bare abs doomguy but I suppose high tech armor fits better with the Doom 4 canon.
Have you seen armor from Dead Space series? It takes a dump on Doom 4 armor.
His proportions look kinda off, like his legs are too short or something.
here (you) go retard
>this games armor is better so it means everythjng else is absolute shit
This is the type of armor generic armors are based off of.
It combines a little bit of the old design with a new generic space marine design, and it turn out awesome
>the Praetor suit was forged in the fires of hell aeons ago
>developers make no attempt to make it look ancient, or even alien in design
Funniest joke in the game, imo.
I still sort of wish his sleeves were bare, but change is to be expected and it still looks GOAT.
It's generic as fuck. Not even iconic.
We were supposed to have forearms and abs.
He only had bare abs in the cover art because the armor was torn off. It's not supposed to be that way.
It wasn't really forged in Hell user, Doom guy is from another dimension and Demons don't know shit about him so they just assumed that. It's got logos and corp signs all over it.
Because it's his original armor forged further to be more powerful silly.
>walks through no atmosphere areas often
>non sealed suit
>this game's armor isn't the worst, so that means it's good
There's lore in the game that specifically says a demon defected to the Doomguy's side and built his armor for him.
>dealing in only extremes
>implying the armor isnt nice
They don't say who made it, they just say that he 'shall not be named'. It could have been made by a human who was trapped in Hell.
looks like an over-designed hunk of garbage
Where is the "overdesign"?
Only his helmet and whatever tubing for the air system needs to be sealed. I didn't like bare abs so much, but bare arms were much better.
>You can't tell me that the Praetor suit isn't 10/10 sexy.
That's what I'm about to tell you right now.
Hey guys GUYS what if in doom 2 they reveal at the end that doom guy is actually doom girl?
Abs where covered. It was ripped by a demon claw.
too much fluff detail like in his gloves, elbow area, the neck. Every thing is too bulk and starts to eat away at any semblance of a recognizable silhouette. It competes too much with other already recognized and iconic designs and basically adds more shit on top of it. It is, for all intents and purposes, overly designed.
I don't care for it. Arms look abnormal for some reason.
You mean the armor plating to protect him from injuries on those areas? Like getting his neck broken by a stray demon hit?
Then they'd have conflicting lore considering everything in the game refers to doom marine as a he
At worst they call him a cis gender shitlord
>The helmet is just slightly a different shade of green than the rest of the suit
I fucking love that for some reason...It just looks so damn right.
Osnt the lore all assumptions of the UAC scientists?
Can't say too much about the suit, but the helmet is definitely 11/10.
I thought this thread was about the armor looking good, not just practical.
And the demons
Nah see, when you start getting into those arguments about practical use over well designed substance, especially when you put into an environment like battling hell demons from space - you lose pretty all credibility.
No, the armor plating is fine, it's how it's implemented and built around the figure that is offputting and seems like it all too much for no good reason in terms of being characteristic to the game.
I wish collecting figures unlocked their corresponding costumes for Multiplayer; I just want to rip and tear as classic Doom Guy.
Part of good looming armor is being protecting though of something looks exposed its not very good armor
You don't need to have something on every centimeter of the body for an armor to look good.
Have you ever considered doom guy is just that buff? I mean he is obviously no weakling
That doesn't make it look good.
Give me a break with this shit. Not everything about the game is 10/10 and this suit is most certainly not 10/10. 7 at best.
>Western Metroid/Samus Aran
Huh.
Sure, yeah Doom Guy is fucking bad ass no doubt. I like things about this armor design, the green works, the boots are badass but something about the overall approach is poorly put together. Almost like they focused too much on specific parts and never pulled back to see how it all plays together. In fact, I'd argue that Doom Guy's physique is being hidden by all this bulky stuff.
So what you are saying is you want a th8n wimpy looking doomguy wrapped in half a tin can?
No, I'm saying that just because the armor is made around a buff guy doesn't mean it looks good.
nah, but this suit has too much going on. It's a mess. They should have simplified the shape and gave Doomguy more of a body builders body
But armor designed for a buff guy is always going to look bulky
>shitting on him for dealing in extremes
>"so it means everything else is absolute shit"
that is completely untrue. Being buff and having armor around him should make him look even MORE solid. To me, this armor is what makes him look hulked out, not the other way around. He looks like a block of wood, when he should look more like a line backer
And that doesn't necessarily mean it looks good.
You people suck this game's dick so hard and loud and wonder why you kept getting accused of being shills. Chill out niggas.
his limbs look like ass. i can't tell what the fuck is going on with his visor or his shoulders.
0/10 apply yourself
I get that the new Doom Guy is look a more high-tech, Master Chief look for the modern age, but there's something to be said about the old look.
With the new suit I feel like Doom Guy's ridiculous strength and stamina could be part of the power armor, but the old costume made him seem like just a normal dude in armor running at 60 miles an hour and punching demons to death with his bare hands.
Maybe they'll release some kind of classic costume update that'll let us play in the oldschool style, that'd be cool.
It looks shit
It actually is a good looking armor but they should have not added the parts going from the hands to the biceps. It would have made the armor design perfect had they done that.
Needs an exposed midriff. Could have made it get ripped off in battle during the early parts of the game or something.
Only complaint.
It's pretty much guaranteed to be a skin with this game really.
Mars isn't a vacuum.
I thought the implication was that Doomguy's armor was something that was forged in Hell with influence from Heaven & materials gotten from the Night Sentinels. Thus, the armor itself evolves to fit the world/universe/point in time that it's donned again.
for example
>if the game took place in the 1800s
>Doomguy's armor would be like that of a knight's and he would fit with a blade
>if the game took place in 2354
>Doomguy's armor would look like that of the most advanced armor available in that era, with logos and any other markings that would reflect this period of time
>knights on the battlefield
>during the 19th century
Do you know anything about history
Do you think we'll get a standalone expansion (in the vein of Old Blood) where Doom Guy wears his original armour and uses the classic weapon designs?
My only issue with it is there's no define points for his wrists or ankles.
It's like he has one big forearm and one big calf on each limb.
It's shit, it looks like armor from Killzone or something.
As someone who has studied design principles I kind of agree about the "over-design" but over-designing shit is basically the fashion at the moment, probably coming from modelers and games trying to show off their l33t skillz and attention to detail.
A lot of the segmentation and indentations in the hard armour parts are unnecessary.
I do think the indentations on the green parts are the least bad, however, as they have fairly consistent angles and beveling that means all those pieces have a them and look like they belong.
The boots, Doomguy suffers the same bigfoot disease as the characters from STALKER
WWI was famous for it examples of classical battle tactics falling short of rapidly improving armaments. So obviously there were fully armoured knights.
Nope, clearly not.
REMINDER THAT CANON DOOM1 ARMOR DOES NOT HAVE EXPOSED ABS
THE COVER GUY'S SHIRT WAS JUST TORN
Napoleonic tactics. As in, with riflemen and pikemen and cannons and cavalry, none of which were knights fully clad in plate and mail
I honestly have no idea why people say this shit. There's no fucking evidence for it at all.
Its way to overdesigned
>classical battle tactics falling short of rapidly improving armaments
Yeah, like Hussar cavalry charges against machine guns and early modern flamethrowers. Not knights in full fucking plate.
>obviously there were fully armoured knights.
Knights like that hadn't been seen on a battlefield for probably 500 years.
>this armor is so perfect
its literally just fat halo you fucking bara fag. its terrible
well yeah I mean if you look in the background you can clearly see the other dude still has perfectly fine armor
A porn star named Lovely Lilith is playing Doom live now
user you started out so strong
Who cares
It's funny because i only recently found this out. But i agree, I'd like the abs and arms to show. They even have a collectable like that in the game.
I don't hate it, but I don't like it either.
She is uncomfortably aggressive about takedowns of her vids
No, it is not good, Todd. It looks like desaturated Master Chief.
Pic related is what Doomguy's armor should look like.
>no atmosphere
Phobos and Deimos are terraformed by the UAC, you uneducated tool.
Holy shit, it looks like she had an allergic reaction to those implants.
That shit looks horrible. /k/ took a big dump on it and said it's the most unrealistic armor design they've ever seen.
Do you have a higher resolution pic?
They're not implants.
I think that the humans copied the demon designs.
Wasn't the Doom Marine armor the "original" space marine armor?
Groovy.
Then why did they still have air locks that vented atmosphere, jackass?
He's considered to be the original video game "space marine" but space marine armor usually refers to sealed powered exoskeletons in the same vein as Master Chief's suit.
No oxygen =/= Vacuum
yeah but wasn't Captain King's suit based off of Doomguy's?
Because the atmospheres of "comfortable atmosphere" and "terraformed atmosphere" are not necessarily the same? Why do you have doors on your house and a heater in your room if there's a habitable atmosphere outside?
Also, Deimos is in Hell anyway, so it shares Hell's hospitable (and hot) atmosphere. You wouldn't want to be wearing heavy armour in Hell.
If the atmosphere is thin enough to need an airlock, you might want a full body suit. also, Mars is fucking cold. like, minus 60 Celsius in the summer cold. You know what one of the perks of a pressurized suit is? controlled climate, meaning you can wear it from ass-freezing Mars to the flaming pits of Hell, it it's good enough. Given that Doomguy's armor seems to be magical to a certain extent, I'd say it is.
It looks like they took Doom Guy and made him fit the modern era. I have no complaints.
