Are you asking for facts or opinions?

I'm asking for people to post older games that aged nicely and still play well without feeling dated (this mostly applies for 5th gen due to early control sticks).

...

That's not really up for debate since the Star Wars video games are mostly better than the movies they're based on.

Were there any good games based on Revenge of the Sith?

Any 2D game that had decent graphics, UI and controls back in the day still plays just as well by todays standards. But most early 3D games were lacking in one or more of these fields. Hell, some 3D games for just last gen are unplayable today (see Assassins Creed).

But the game OP posted plays like shit nowadays.

>not emulating it and playing with a 360 controller
fucking pleb, it plays better than F-Zero GX.

>360 controller
360's stick is even worse than N64's

>mostly
The movies are vastly inferior to the games. Disregarding recent ones (Battlefront [3], TOR, and FU2), almost every star wars game is enjoyable, some excellent. That's much more than I can say for them movies.

I'd rather use KB+M. I use Dxwnd so no problems for me.

bait

Do you think he got groomed and diddled as a kid?

Melee

it plays just fine
particularly if you had it on DC instead of the choppy as shit N64 version

Nice opinion, champz.

...

>The DC version factually performs better than the N64 version
>"nice opinion"
nintendrones everyone

Oh man I can't imagine what replaying this is like, it's already a fucking nightmare to emulate.

what an image, also no that game aged like shit.

no doubt

...

>it plays just fine
Nice opinion.

Is the PSP version worth playing?

nice argument

i'd say smash bros 64

Excuse me?

These graphics age like wine, they are more immersive than any game out today

...

>tfw used to spend a lot of time just exploring the outsides of the island
DK64 was super comfy

A TALE OF SOULS AND SWORDS

ETERNALLY RETOLD

DADANAAAAAAAAAA NANA NAAAAAAAAAAA

NANA NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The graphics are fine but the frame rate is shit and the way the game handles lag is hilariously bad. Also it's glitchy as fuck and poorly designed.

I was always upset that there wasn't anything really to do in the post-game except explore.

If you manage to get 101%, the coolest thing you get is Krusha and that long credit secret video.

Is the Wii U port any good?

Its pretty easy for Soul Calibur to age well seeing as the game hasn't really changed since its first installment. I mean 5 came along and replaced all the characters you liked with shittier versions of those characters but still...

Thanks.

The character acceleration and clipping is a huge issue I must agree, but the framerate is no worse than OOT or any other big N64 title.

Poorly designed as far as collision goes, yes. The level design and other elements are enjoyable

pshhhhh whatever, kid

I'm only pretending to be retarded to trick you into replying >:) heh got you

I remember that game. You could pimp your racer, right? I think I picked Sebulba all the time because I could ram Anakin. His racer had some flames coming out to hurt bypassers, too. At least I think it did.

Yeah, it was hard as shit though. The most fun I remember having is exploding into a million pieces after ramming into a wall at 800Mph

The Revenge of the Sith movie game was actually pretty good

...

Fun as fuck and great story. Way too short though, really disappointing.

Also Paige/the kids should have stayed dead, it would have been a more emotional story piece.

episode 1 racer and diddy kong's racing are the only racing games I enjoy.

...

Diddy Kong Racing... I could never get into the slippery control style in comparison to all the other racers.

Also not a huge fan of the baby character design, honestly

It's aged pretty badly. It's still good, but DMC3 aged much better.

played this for the first time a few years ago and it sucked hard. don't even want to play another DMC game after that. not to mention DMC2 supposedly is even worse.

4 was slowed down and became unplayable, 2 was the peak, 3 was a replay of the 2nd, anything past the 3rd is bullshit tier

Age of Empire and prostagma?

>collect the orbs to unlock doors and be able to play the fucking game

No thanks.

...

hahahaha

:O)

Because sadly it doesn't have proper modern competition

this user knows what's up

get the fuck out of here binky

Fantastic video game.
Was there a sequel, was it any good?

I don't think so unfortunately, it's a shame that pod-racing is pretty much dead at this point (along with Star Wars games).

Cryostasis
Mirror's Edge

YOU FUCKING WIZARD I WAS DOING THIS WELL BEFORE READING YOUR POST

say what you want about doom3, it still looks good

I've been playing Rogue Galaxy recently. It feels like a 2D copy of Freelancer. They even got the shitty voice acting and meaningless story correct!
How is it that after 13 years we still don't have a proper space game that will live up to Freelancer? Star Citizen won't be released for another 20 years because Chris Roberts takes forever to make games.

Its easy to look good when all you see is black the entire game.

The GBA movie game was awesome. 10/10.

b-but MEGATEXTURES user...

I kinda liked Freelancer's story. Sure it was kinda weak, but honestly it's better to have one like this than nothing at all.

A little controller lag making some optional minigames almost impossible. But a good enough port to beat. I beat it the other day. Plus the save states make the game a little easier.

Ehhh, not really. I remember booting it up a few months ago. The controls felt.... nothing like I had remembered. They felt so clunky when turning your ship. I'm starting to think Nostalgia goggles really are a thing.

Empire Earth is pretty good too.

Earthbound

I want to add the PS1 Crash games to this. I still go back and play the main 3 Spyro and main 4 Crash games at least a few times a month

>but the framerate is no worse than OOT

But OoT has a good framerate and DK64 doesn't

>main 4 Crash games
You better be talking about CTR.

Playing it for the first time, it's not that bad actually. It's just that the RE camera sucks so much ass that it almost ruins the game. Almost.

The problem is that when you press R1 the challenge is over.

Only 3 is worth playing. 3 is amazing. Rest are meh.

>This thread
Goddamnit don't make me crack out the ps1 games, I need to study...

Yup. I love Bash too, but I don't really consider it a 'Crash' game. Plus it wasn't made by ND, so there is that too

PS1 games aged like shit though, even the "best" ones

I think OOT is a good example of a game that hasn't aged a day. Mechanically its still on par with games coming out today.

Elite Dangerous sorta has that vibe, but it gets boring fast. Also since it is technically an mmo (you can play alone if you want) it doesn't really have a real story.

That's Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver right?
Isn't it on Dreamcast?

It got ported onto Dreamcast but the PS1 version is the original

Can I just jump into the Dreamcast game without any knowledge of the series?

He ain't wrong

IMO, the mechanics are still solid and its still both incredibly fun and hard

it still looks pretty good too

Yes that's fine. You'll miss a bit of backstory but the game assumes you don't know that much of it anyway

Heroes of Might and Magic 3

What a game.

SUP, GUYS REMEMBER ME?

EA might make another pod racing game since they have the star wars vidya rights

I had this game, it wasn't too bad

Still impressed by it to this day.

my problem with the game is that there are a good number of things to do but none of them have enough depth to make them interesting to do continuously. there is a reason people play games like eurotruck when you can only do basically one thing

>spend hours getting timesplitters 2 flawlessly emulatable at 1080p, 60fps, never even slightly dips on my desktop in singleplayer

>go to play two player

>controllers work and everything, great, start up a game, holy fuck this is it, this is what it all comes down to

>get 5000 error codes

>every time

fuck everything

Take away emulators though and Spyro looks like shit. Emulators fix almost every goddamn problem plaguing the game on real hardware (except the shit camera of course).

>EA
I'd rather it just stay dead after they fucked up Battlefront

Why did you unearth this awful, repressed frustration user?

I feel I had to post it, for reactions.

I replayed this shit recently and was disappointed at how piss easy it was. Controls, sound, music and all of that were on point, but it was a shame that you could practically lap everyone each race if you upgraded your racer regularly.

GTA IV is great as long as you don't have to control anyone on foot. Or in a vehicle.
