DKC3 is a really good and underrated game.
HE WAS JUST TRYING TO PROTECT HIS BANANA HORDE FROM THE CHILD!
DK DIDNU NUFFIN
My favorite Nintendo character and my second favorite Nintendo series.
>The best map in the series
>Comfy as fuck Canadian theme
>Good music in its own right despite not being composed by David Wise
>The most content and level variety out of snes trilogy
Why is this game hated again?
Not as many people played it because it was on the dying end of the SNES' life span. Plus people naturally dislike Kiddie Kong.
>Good music in its own right despite not being composed by David Wise
For the SNES version, yes. Not true for the GBA version.
I love the theme of the game.
>canadien
I always saw it as the upper west coast of NA.
I found this today
Donkey Konga is surprisingly fun. There will probably never ever be a sequel, but at least Taiko fills the void for a DK4.
is diddy donkey's son?
Seattle.
More fun than a barrel.
THIS KONG'S
ONE HELL OF A GUY
Technically there was a sequel. Two of them.
But the less said the better.
>monkey
>gorilla
I don't know, genius. You figure it out.
Mis negros.
No, Diddy is Donkey's nephew like all other cartoon characters.
DK shot first
DKC TF is the best 2D platformer, bar none.
yes.

What the fuck is Donkey Kong 2?

Post your favorite levels and music. Lucky for me both are the same.

>Favorite level
The minecart levels. They always provided a sense of intensity and speed while playing through them, especially in the Cave world.
I haven't played Tropical Freeze, so I don't know about the levels in it.
Always wanted to try the Country games but never got around to it. I just don't have the time to learn the ins, outs, secrets, etc in a game like that any more. I'm a completion fag so if I miss something important, example being a dragon coin in super mario world but a normal coin would not be, I have to restart until I get everything in one run. My autism demands it and I ain't got time for it.
We need more Donkey Kong titles with a focus on beating the shit out of anything that walks.

>hitting the river section
Should I just try to emulate this, or is it not the same with out the bongos?
He just wants to save his bananas, hes the fucking boss
You can't disrespect him
Tell me about the great ape war.
It's still doable with a controller, just bongos are the best experience because you have to keep tapping the buttons repeatedly to do anything.
itll cripple your hands but its totally worth it
Someone post all your rare kongs so
I can post them when I beat my friends at mario party
Those old renders still look great despite being so dated.
I always found the treetop levels to be so goddamn comfy.
Never played the country games. Anything I should know before going in?
2>3>1>64
i havent played returns or tropical dong yet
Any wall could potentially be breakable, leading to a secret level.

Guys what if Playtonic makes the next DK game?
Yay or nay?
What about Land 3?
Roll liberally, it eases timing on your jumps and kills basically every enemy. You can jump mid roll even if you're not on top of a platform.
I only put the ones I played. All I know about Land 3 is that most of the level names are puns.
TF has amazing minecart levels, although unfortunately I believe there are only 3 and a half of them.
nay
i dont want another collectaton slog of a game unless they made it more bearable
like make it so you can swap characters anywhere or so you can collect items as any character but only have it count towards the total once you switch to that character
90s Dong is best dong. All others are bad except the returns series.
If they wanted to but it sounds like right now they want to establish their own universe. They said lately that the story for Yooka-Laylee is supposed to carry over many games.
When the day comes though they'd be the best developers for the job.
I think they talked about how they're trying to avoid the missteps DK64 took in the original kickstarter page for YL.
It would be an improvement over Retro though. The only reason TF was any good was due to David Wise; it was the closest thing we had to a Rare DK game.
Donkey Kong the arcade game is amazing.
Donkey Kong Country is an overrated mediocre franchise.
Has had few bad games. DK64 was loads of fun and deserves a sequel, DKC was a great series, and JungleBeat was fucking goat. I still have my bongo drums from it.
I'm still interested in the idea of Retro making a 3D DK game. I guess they'd be a good choice whenever Retro moves on, it'd definitely be better than Donkey Kong being put back into spinoff hell like he was during the Gamecube era.

I matter? Gee thanks.
They're fantastic. Both of them.
Great design. Great games.
>>The best map in the series
That argument was what that made it the best for me when i was a kid, plus the possibility to move in the water.
But be honest music was inferior to both other games (if i remember right), same for enemies, and those shitty rocket barrel level were a terrible idea.
2>1=3 if the good order for me
To be honest i only like DK games from Snes era, the one on N64 was a bad copy of banjo in my mind. Also i never understood why tiny replaced dixie.
I didn't appreaciated DK returns and tropical freeze, there is something different than the snes one, maybe because there is no kremlings.
Also Diddy kong racing was superior to Mario kart 64 and remains to me, as one of the best kart game ever created.
Arcade and Country?
Rare and Retro?
What do you mean both?
Early on in development of DK64, there was an order from Japan to keep the characters limited to DKC1 veterans and original characters. Later on they eased up, which is why you see guys like Wrinkly or enemies like Shuri pop up.
The music was inferior because it was Eveline Fischer who did the soundtrack instead of Wise.
There are a few good songs though like Rockface Rumble and Nuts n Bolts.
Enjoy this promotional vhs via the dubs man.
Dixie is pretty oblivious to what is about to happen next
no fucking way
what the fuck
why is this not more known?
That's why I never liked Nintendo. Their executive meddling held back Rare.
>Rare makes DKC
Miyamoto gets butthurt because it upstaged his precious Mario and Zelda games and calls the game crap.
>Rare makes Conker's Bad Fur Day
Nintendo refuses to acknowledge the game's existence.
>Rare has Dinosaur Planet planned
Nintendo makes them change it to Starfox Adventures.
Fuck Ninty, I'm glad Playtonic won't be held back by them.
Been playing it for the first time and it is pretty damn good.
>Miyamoto gets butthurt because it upstaged his precious Mario and Zelda games and calls the game crap.
Uhh, as far as I understood, Miyamoto was supportive of Rare. However, when Yoshi's Island was being made Nintendo was attempting to do what Rare was doing, but Miyamoto stepped in and suggested to use a more crayony look for the game instead.
This then got spun around into some wild rumor about him disliking Rare or so forth.
Actually Nintendo only offered Rare the opportunity to make Dinosaur Planet a Star Fox game, and some of the higher ups had the team take it since it would obviously sell better.
Miyamoto actually disliked DKC's graphics. Something about them being the focus of the game rather than the gameplay. He did later recant and said DKC was a good game and was upset when one of his coworkers suggested making Yoshi's Island use similar graphics.
that's not dubs guy.
RIP Harambe
Favorite song is still the DK rap.

dkc games look fine though.
Depends, they look awful blown up on an HD screen but the New 3DS pixel perfect mode makes them look real nice.
Diddy's Donkey Kong's best friend.

I know. But he disliked the pre-rendered graphics for some reason.
But that's always been his philosophy, gameplay first and graphics second.
He looks more like some weird cross between the dubs guy and Bill Nye.
As far as the SNES DKC titles go, they are indeed pretty simple and shallow in their mechanics. They do make up for it in presentation, and just because your game is simple doesn't necessarily make it bad. There's always room for both technical and non-technical platformers.
I'm re-playing Jungle Beat this weekend and dammit, this must be the more adictive platformer game I've never played. I just can't get tired of it.
This.
DKC games had much simpler gameplay than say Mario games. But that was never a bad thing. Simple gameplay was all the DKC games needed. Their graphics and godly soundtracks wouldn't have been as enjoyable with more complicated gameplay mechanics.
Miyamoto said rather directly that all of those rumors about him not liking the game were completely false. He made it clear he liked how the games turned out, even specifically complimenting the unique graphical style, and was even in constant contact with the developers while the game was in production. If he had grievances with the game, he'd be condemning himself just as much as Rare since he was involved in it.
I've never met a soul that could play Jungle Beat on bongos without smiling. Shit is just straight FUN
It was even Miyamoto who gave Retro the go ahead to make Returns.
I was thinking about trying dk64 again but last time I tried I couldnt tolerate the aged controls.
The original DKC is really simple, but it ramped up the mechanics pretty well with each one. The main abilities the characters had were simple but damn near each stage introduced some new gimmick, and then you had all the animal buddies that gave loads of other abilities.
northern hemispheres
The DKC titles may not have been filled to the brim with mechanics but I think that was their strength. It took what little it had and used that to make really good levels as well as making for extremely well-hidden bonuses. I'm still astonished I was able to 100% all 3 games.
>not 105%ing DKC3 to see Cranky Kong strike karate poses
Thought it was fitzthistlewits for a second.
Ohhho man
youtube.com
great character despite having a very mixed series. the DKC and Returns games are fantastic but the other games in the series have ranged from lackluster to completely forgettable. DK still manages to be a super iconic character for nintendo though I couldn't imagine smash or mario kart without the dong
I'm just not that good. I got 101%, 102%, and 103%, and even 200% in TF. But I don't have it in me to do that for DKC3.
anyone got a picture of the pose he does in this game?
