I have the 2ds and n3ds. The 2ds is more comfortable if you have big hands, the n3ds is better if you like how thinner devices feel in your hand + want the second nub for some games.

It's functional, but not playable.
That being said just buy a 3DS, you can install CFW and pirate anything you want.
Currently playing FE:Fates Special Edition with all the amiibo content, Japanese voices, and uncensored Swimsuits. Because fuck Nintendo's kikery with that game.

The O3DS/O3DS XL are not relevant anymore, the 2DS is nice if you just want to play RPGs, but I like the 3D gimmick
