get the slim jim.. the slim shady... the slender Samuel.. the thin tom.. the
Probably the slim since it (from what I've heard) has 3G capabilities. As far as the second question, that depends on how much you wanna spend on memory cards. Generally, if you get a 16 GB, go physical as much as possible. If you get 32 GB and up, you're fine going digital only.
Though be warned that a large part of the time, Vita games are digital only.
If you enjoy spending money on games, and then the storage needed to store those games, go digital. Otherwise, go physical.
Original has a better screen, slim has a better battery life, decide what's more important to you.
Slim.
1ks have an out dated version of OLED screen, its nothing like the OLEDs used for phones now or even back in 2012. Those screens are going to start dying in mass in a few years, also they generally have Mura defect.
Physical if you can't afford a large memory card
Digital if you can get that 32 or 64gig and/or have Playstation Plus. If you dont have PS+ just back up your unused games to your PC via the Content Manager Assistant.
Depends on what you want to play. All the Vita games I own are physical. And if your willing to import, you can get more games physical, sometimes translated.
1000: AMAZING screen with bautiful bright colors.
2000: lighter and has 2hs extra battery life
If you take it out too often id go with 2K model for portability and extended battery life.
If you play mostly at home id go with 1K.
I have a 2K, a 1K and most of my library is physical (except digital only games like SSD).
Grab muramasa, and load it on a 1K and a 2K and put them side by side.
Then cry because you bought a 2K.
The difference in colors is THAT BIG.
Do you want prettier screen or better everything else?
Physical where possible.
Whichever version you get, make sure you get a charge dock. My vita used to always run out of juice when I left it in standby and forgot to plug it in, but the charge dock makes things a lot more convenient.
go buy VLR on psn right now. It's like $8.
Get Slim so you can get this. The level of comfort of this thing makes using the Vita without it like, just really not seem like an option
The only thing better is the battery life (due to LCD using less battery than OLED) and the size.
Buttons are the exact same pieces as 1K.
back touch is smaller
The 2K is slimmer but the plastic is of a lower quality than the 1K.
Try to stay physical
Use space on PSP games
Get the original since it will probably stop being manufactured before the 2k, it has really nice quality to it.
How stable is this? I havent gotten it because I'd be too worried about the vita falling flat on its face
Not him, but I own it.
There is absolutely no chance of the vita falling, super stable, and it has rubber on its bottom to prevent sliding (even if you fucking push it).
100% worth it.
It only works with 1K though since it has the propietary plug to connect the 1K.
It's rock solid. Gravity is pushing the vita backwards, not forwards, and overall the design is very stable. I've had mine for a year and it's yet to tip over.
The charge dock is only for the oled vita, not the slim. I haven't had any trouble with charge, that being said. Maybe they improved it with the slim?
>mfw I missed my chance to get the 1000 version and now a used one goes for like $80
There are charge docks for the Slim, but they're not official. I'm not quite sure how reliable they are, though, since the Slim uses micro USB. The original Vita's proprietary charge port and cable are built like tanks, whereas micro USB is the worst connector ever invented. That alone may be a reason to consider getting the 1000 series over the 2000, though the tradeoff is that micro USB is a lot easier to replace if you ever lose your cable (or if it breaks, which is quite likely if you don't misplace it).
Thanks, I'll get it then. I need to give my vita more love. Playing PS1 games in bed is too comfy
Usually with micro-USB it's the cable that breaks and that's easy as hell to replace.
Original Vita has the same thing...
Also, piss filter.. literally no reason to get Slim. It's a cheaper model with less quality parts.
But that screen is far better on the slim
It's a chinese clone that doesn't have a battery pack built in. In terms of additional comfort those do the job just fine, although the original Nyko ones gave you extra battery time.
>trusting a third party charger
>letting a third party charger charge your vita-chan
Not even once.
Yeah tru but like, how much battery life do you even need? I guess for long plane rides it'd help but most common environments for playing Vita I can think of is at home or for long car rides, and you can get an adapter for the car jack if you need it
The screen on the 2000 is an IPS LCD, which means everything is still going to look very good. Colors will look a little washed out if you have it side by side with the 1000 screen, but you could say the 1000's screen is over saturated and be just as valid. You'll be hard pressed to notice a difference otherwise, and the 2000's screen will never suffer from burn in. OLED screens suffer from burn in, and what's worse is not all sub pixels burn in at the same rate so your color balance will change over time.
meant for
>everything is still going to look very good
nice b8 m8
>3G capabilities
They're fucking useless and expensive. No need to get one because of that.
>Generally, if you get a 16 GB, go physical as much as possible.
You can still store digital vita games on your pc or ps3/4 if you want to swap stuff out quickly.

We're almost ready for Vita Piracy to take full effect
Once we can get past 3.60 blocking the flash cart we're free (for the most part)
All we have left at that point is to find the kernel exploit and then we can finally unlock the full potential of the system
>using a camera to accurately capture how your eyes will see a screen
Even a slight adjustment in the white balance can cause the screen to look a lot better or worse. The whites on my 2000 look just as good as on the only OLED screen I own, my Nexus 6p.
The blackfin is a fucking joke, don't raise your hopes.
Doesn't matter, slim is easier to find new
Normally I'd say physical, but so many games are digital only and sales are really good. But you need at least 32gb memory card, which is like $60
it may be a joke but we now have reliable ways of dumping vita game carts and that to me is already something that is important
whether its using a shitty P2P license activation to make it work, the fact theres now proper dumps is fucking gold to me
One small step closer to the bigger goal, wrapped up in a shitty way
Dumps weren't hard to get before. You could do it with the email exploit. It was just tedious as fuck.
>should i go original or slim?
OLED
>Physical or digital games?
both
>Probably the slim since it (from what I've heard) has 3G capabilities.
Only some fat Vitas had 3G. You're retarded.
> If you get 32 GB and up, you're fine going digital only.
This is also wrong. Some of the games can be like 4gb. Even if you get a 32gb I would recommend getting physical copies of games.
>Though be warned that a large part of the time, Vita games are digital only.
Once again, you are retarded. Most of it's library you can get physical.
>Those screens are going to start dying in mass in a few years
People keep saying this but none of them are dying.
yes but they were encrypted still (and these are too unless im retarded)
you'd get the files from the cart, not the whole cart in one simple action which is what mattered most. I even dumped my own carts to the extent that i could (and had a proof of concept "dump to memory card" thing going on for unencrypted data) but because i lacked the skills and nobody gave a shit i abandoned it.
It was a very small amount of success but it wasn't enough to matter. but now we can get the full rom images and that means the world
>you need at least 32gb memory card
Depends on the person. I use a 16gb and rarely have any problems.
I have the original and just shelled out the money for a 32gb to go digital. Never looked back and its best decision I've made in a long time
>yes but they were encrypted still
Actually the email hack dumps were unencrypted, as you could see the individual files; meanwhile the .psv format utilised by the Blackfin is still encrypted (AFAIK)
Yeah but you get worse battery life. Go fuck yourself nigga
Better screen is worth more to me. No need to get upset.
>worse battery life
>1 hour
lol
the manual dumps were encrypted, and these are too, but unless i'm mistaken the singular files were unusable, while these ones are.
regardless it's still more reliable to do than before so that's not something we can really be mad about. What we just have to do now is figure out how to get them onto the internal system with some changes and we can play them from the memory card instead of a cart.
I know we're smart enough to do it, but fuck me those memory cards will kill us. We STILL dont have board scans of those fuckers because they just break so easily
i just want to activate my teskit. thats all i want. nothing more. but no i have to wait for a kernel exploit to do so.
OLED or you failed at life.
But wait... Vita has no games anyways.
Save your money and you win at life.
While the slim has a gorgeous screen, it doesn't compare to the original. Those fucking reds are amazing.
You pay for this with less battery life and a heavier and slightly thicker unit though.
The manual dumps are certainly not encrypted. The fact that you can see a plaintext header segment (PCSF00001_00) demonstrates that.
They are unusable though, there's no way to trick the Vita into using them.
The new, .psv format dumps are useful because they function just like a real Vita cart. In fact they require remote Vita carts on a network to be accessed in order to achieve authentication.
>no gaemes
>believing memes are real
>current year
user, vita has over 1300 hundred games. Just because you can't handle tits in vidya, doesn't mean they don't count you little nigger
>user, vita has over 1300 hundred games
130,000? Fucking doubtful.
And don't you dare go about pretending that weebshit is even remotely playable for humans. Retarded drawings of anime girls doing and saying stupid things are not games, filth. They're not anything at all but beacons pinpointing who needs to be killed.
>The manual dumps are certainly not encrypted.
ill retry it because i swear this is wrong, but maybe its because i tried to dump with a testkit for a retail cart
>The new, .psv format dumps are useful because they function just like a real Vita cart
Again, it's progress I love to see and I want to see it evolve as time goes on.
In another unrelated note - here's a dump of (a rather shitty game) from a publisher that was left on my testkit (was on the internal storage)
mega.nz
Afaik theyre unencrypted which is a huge plus
If it's just a pass through and not a charger, there's not much to worry about.
>thinking 1300 is 130 thousand
>1,300 = 130,000
you're fucking retarded you know that?
Why I don't necessarily disagree on the weebshit point, there's a shit ton of PSP and PSOne games that can be played on the Vita. That's mainly what I use mine for
I'll be happy if a successor to the Blackfin without the network requirement appears.
lol user, you know what i meant!
You said 1300 hundred m8. Is English not your first language?
please dump odin sphere soon
It only has 3-4 hours to begin with.
if we just get a kernel exploit the system becomes our bitch.
thats just the end result that i want. (go download that build for me and tell me if i even extracted anything remotely neat)
im not the user that said the number, but even they managed to fuck it up
>1300 hundred
>thirteen-hundred hundred
>1300 hundred = 130,000
yes while you did your grammatical math right, they clearly didnt even type shit right since the vita doesnt have more than 1500 games total and any sane person would read that as "thirteen-hundred" and just drop the spelled out "hundred" because theres no reason it should be there
go fuck yourself, you know what the user meant, they meant 1300, and fucked up by adding an extra hundred.
no?
What? The Slim only has 1 more hour of play than the Original.
Yeah but I'm on 3.52, and unless another Userland exploit besides Rejuvenate appears I'm screwed.
My fat and PSTV are on 3.60
My testkit is on 3.300.041 and i have the 3.600.041 updates for dev and teskits on hand should it be needed
all i care about is activating this fucker and im happy.
>vita lan adapter
>this isnt a retail product even though its the best fucking thing
god tier lan speeds on network play for a handheld systsm is fucking great
I only have a PSTV because i'm poor
im so sorry
the fat vita i got for 40 bucks
i have to share a memory card between them all.
>Most of it's library you can get physical
Not for long bub. Vita's going the way of the dodo and all the good games are gonna be digital only to cut costs.
Go for the slim. The original's 3G is locked into AT&T's bullshit.
Physical is best. Sony never dropped the price on their memory cards. Just be sure to know about any local indie shops or online retailers since the Vita doesn't get shelf presence at regular vidya stores.
Except more games are getting physical releases this year you mong.
I thought they did drop the price on the memory cards when the slim came out and they added the 65gb option then as well? It's just the cards were so overpriced as it is that a modest price drop got us to where we are today.
I check, you're right, they did drop the price on the cards. When I read about the 64gb model, it was strictly an import item, don't know if that changed. Anything below the 32gb is still a terrible value for the market prices listed.
