Redpill me on this game, Sup Forums.

Is there any actual value (ie, gameplay, getting the story across, etc) lost from the localization?

Mainly cosmetic choices. Everything else about the game is fine and fun.

>redpill me

yeah, yeah, containment board, etc.

Heard some of the story was changed because they removed most references to modeling.

Why would you want to play this in the first place?

Redpill comes from the matrix, not from Sup Forums, you dumb newfag.

I've read battle lines aren't subtitled and they give a fair amount of flavour to said battles, as well as extra commentary, pointing out weaknesses etc.

Dunno, I can't afford consoles.

that's a new one

...

Like said, combat dialogue (and some minor cutscene dialogue) is not subbed. You'll lose out on some tutorials, character introductions, plot-relevant details, boss dialogue, extra dialogue that changes depending on which costumes/character you've got in battle, etc.

Honestly surprised that they didn't sub any of that shit. The common excuse I'm hearing online is that it would be too much work to add subtitles to combat sequences that didn't already support them, but considering that the localization team spent the effort to create entirely new costumes to replace the ones they removed, changed an entire dungeon's story to get rid of the gravure theme, and even had the JP VAs redo dialogue to reflect age changes in characters, I can't believe they couldn't also put in the effort to actually fucking subtitle all of the god damn dialogue.

Regardless of any censorship/cut content bullcrap that people want to fling shit about, this instantly makes it a 0/10 shit localization job for me. And that isn't even mentioning the weird decisions, like using localized FE names for text when the JP dub uses the JP names, so you're stuck reading "Caeda" but hearing "Shiida".

The battle lines arent subtitled either in the japanese version and treehouse / atlus USA can't code for shit to add them. Also the battle lines are tales of tier meaning that they aren't really important

>Very first fucking battle
>Chrom teaching you how battles work
>No subs so can't understand anything he says
Fuck you.

That sounds so miniscule yet at the same time I see exactly how it adds up each battle or replay and creates a much bigger impact6 than any of the actually altered stuff.

That sucks,

So the game is good but the localization can eat a dick?

Why would you pay more dosh for a game with objectively less content and a butchered translation

Pretty much my feelings on it. The story isn't anything special but the game itself can be pretty fun, the characters are fine, and there's a working decensor/content restoration patch already if that's your thing. The only thing that really puts me off is this ridiculous localization.

Chapter 2 is completely butchered and one of the DLCs is flat out not coming to the west.

Get the uncensor version. Wii U modding is easy.

What's the best Wii U mod, or is there only one version?
