Wolfenstein 3D you cunt

It sucks compared to Doom so no.

That's not Blood.

BLOOD's better.

Blow it out yo ass

Yes

Doom is basically infinitely better than any Build game from a gameplay standpoint. Duke is great for the novelty though. Most of the modern set piece spectacle games have their origins in Douk, though most of the people making them have probably never played it.

>Doom is basically infinitely better than any Build game from a gameplay standpoint.
You're an inspiration for birth control

How is Doom so much bettter?

He's not wrong user I beat duke nukem 3D and after I beat shadow warrior I decided to try doom out, and damn it was fucking fantastic, and once I went back to duke 3D it just wasn't the same, it just feels so slow with duke

Encounter design is vastly superior, no flashy setpieces that interfere with gameplay, hazards are telegraphed, no pointless "guess the combination" puzzles, all hitscanners are weak and easily dispatched to balance their difficult-to-avoid attacks, much better enemy variety, etc etc. Most of what Duke has over Doom is in the TECHNOLOGY department, fun fluff that adds nothing to core gameplay.

I'm sorry you feel hurt, user. It wasn't my intention to upset you.

What do you mean by "encounter design"?

Yes

Enemy placement. Doom will ambush you with monsters in a closet, Duke will silently teleport enemies in behind you, for example.

That's why Blood is better than both

po-ed

what are your thoughts on blood?

PO'ed is awesome. Running around with a frying pan hitting arses on legs. Shame there was never a sequel.

Probably the most refined of the Build brood. Rock solid game. I'd still give Doom the edge because of the consistency of the engine but Blood is what exemplifies the Build engine's potential.

Good weapons, poor level design.

What's poor about the level design?

>he is too stupid to comprehend the greatness of Doom

Here, let me teach you

It has one of the best level design of any game I've played

Sure as fuck better than Doom.

Better maps. Weapon curve is also better for the sake of killing enemies.

Doom's shotguns>Duke's shotguns
therefore Doom>Douk

Great video man, thanks.

I'm thinking about trying to make my own fps game, with monsters that behave like Doom enemies plus human enemies who behave like FEAR soldiers.

Mah nigga!

Blood is a real mans game.

Shadow Warrior is lesser mans game.

Duke is an even lesser mans game.

Good luck my friend

Think it's a decent idea? I don't have any story or art assets yet, I'm just brainstorming game mechanics to aspire to.

>sprite-based FPS
what did he mean by this?

also yes, it's the best 2,5D FPS

Sure, sounds cool in theory

Some advice, as someone who's both studied game design and created a game- don't just borrow things from other games and mash them together. Create a concept from scratch, or at least borrow a single strong concept and then add to it in a meaningful way. Throwing enemies from one game into another doesn't work the majority of the time since the game isn't designed for them. If you decide from the beginning that you want 6-7 distinct enemies, then you can start to break them up and decide how you want them to work. Two melee, two midrange, a boss and a long range perhaps. It's up to you. You have to remember though if you're making a game that's 99% doom, people will prefer to play doom because it's a more pure, focused version, the original where everything was designed with a purpose.

Why are shotguns in these kind of games so good?
I always see myself using a shotgun 85% of the game.

> noone doesn't even mention NAM
