lighting looks great but the textures and models are iffy.
I mean come on! Not even a fucking bevel on that ramp!?
But who cares, as long as everything but graphics (and some UI and control improvements) is original, it's gonna be great
looks ok i think.. i wanted to say something more actually but i already forgot
>reboot
Stop using words you don't understand you underage little shit, it's a remake.
Also it's not even the first video released of this.
Kill yourself.
They need to tone it down some.
vg247.com
You're a rude bitch, BTW.
My only concern is that their trying to make this into SS2. So goodbye kickass MIDI music and distinct color palette of each level.
>they're changing the levels and story
And into the trash it goes. A remake is all I wanted, the fact they're now going to rape it with their "modern, more progressive vision" means it's going to be literal trash.
The devs need to fucking kill themselves.
Also
>Kikescammer
Yep, trash it is.
i like it and i'm glad they have something to show before the kickstarter
>>they're changing the levels and story
welp into the trash it goes.
Bye bye one of the few things I was looking forward to
Oh fuck off
>posting Polygons video and not the actual video released on the developer channel
Fuck off you stupid fucking shill.
youtube.com
>actually defending raping the perfect 10/10 level design of the original
>actually defending the devs wanting to "streamline and modernize it for modern audiences"
Eat shit and die
Changing levels isn't inherently bad. REmake changed up the level design and added a bunch of curveballs for fans of the original.
It looks pretty good, I don't really like the tone that they're aiming for though.
RE level design wasn't perfect to begin with, and REmake made the level design more contrived and expanded compared to original.
This one is STREAMLINING the level design, as in making the levels smaller and more appealing to modern retards.
Go shill somewhere else you dirty fucking kike.
>>they're changing the levels and story
GOD
FUCKING
DAMNIT
End your life cunt.
Why do devs do this. Why do they think they can just come in and fuck around with perfection without ruining everything? All they had to do was remake something that already exists. It couldn't have beeen easier.
>they're changing the levels and story
wait where does it say that
Classic case of "WE THINK WE CAN DO BETTER AND 1-UP THE ORIGINAL DEVELOPERS".
That's what almost always happens when you get a new studio to remake something they didn't work on in the past.
I can gurantee you that Sony's Crash Bandicoot remakes will also be dumbed down and altered.
In the article they say they aren't content with just remaking original and would rather make their own vision for the game instead and also on the kickstarter page.
If they aren't sticking to original design and following their own "vision" then it's pretty fucking obvious that it's going to be completely fucking different.
>"WE THINK WE CAN DO BETTER AND 1-UP THE ORIGINAL DEVELOPERS".
the original developers are working on this you fucking mongoloid
They aren't. The studio behind System Shock Enhanced Edition is making this you dumb fuck.
The original devs (or rather, some of them) are working on System Shock 3. Go eat a bag of dicks you lying shill.
>the original developers are working on this you fucking mongoloid
But thats wrong, the indie guys who made SS:EE are making this remake/reboot thingy
I like how you push buttons on circuits/keypads physically in the world instead of in a UI element. That's neat.
That was in the original game, the original game is also going to be objectively better now that they confirmed this is going to be a streamlined and heavily altered reboot rather than a faithful remake
Too much bloom, DoF and krrrromatic aberration.
It's okay if your graphics aren't super next-gen, you don't need to try and hide them beneath copious amounts of filters.
>ystem Shock Enhanced Edition
how was that?
Does it give it modern controls?
Why care about this when Enhanced is already literally perfect?
>Misses 5 times from 1m distance
Jesus christ I just got aids
System Shock has always had good controls. If you mean does it have mouselook, yes, but there's been a mod for that years before EE, you daft cunt.
They just ripped off the System Shock Portable mod wholesale and them smacked them with a cease and desist to shut them up. It's good because SSP was good, but it's in no way their own work.
Definitely much better than playing on DOS.
You can set higher resolution including widescreen, though widescreen mode stretches the UI while the game itself is rendered in Vert- (as in top and bottom of non-interface area is cropped to make a 16:9 aspect ratio).
However going beyond 1024x576 resolution is buggy, very performance intensive and crashes the game.
The controls are rebindable and definitely more modernized and you can use mouse to look around, however you still need to press a button to switch from mouse look to "point and click" mouse in order to interact with puzzles ands hit.
>modernized
>streamlined
>reboot
Trash.
I bet it won't have original music either.
u.pomf.is
Maybe he did that because the Polygon vid is 8 minutes of new footage?
>no interaction between the hud and the world
>60° fov view model (battleborn style)
>utterly shite animations that pale compared to the original sprite work
>no mention of diego or implants
>no "I'll be the king of the net" diary entry
>code to door lazily written next to it
>no audiolog screen
>no map screen
>developed with xbone in mind
>2 weapon limit
>no overcharge for energy gun
>no cyberpunk techno music
>literally the same title as the original
I didn't even finish SS1 or SS2, but god dammit. Not like this. Not like this. What a shame. And console kiddies are already demanding a PS4 port. Do these fuckers even understand what makes SS1 unique? Without the weird hud and the cheesy cyberpunk shit SS1 is a generic space survival game with a low budget and terrible animations. And this will replace System Shock, one of the most revolutionary PC games of the 90s.
Your video is from when it was still a faithful remake, the old video.
Polygon's vid is new one from the reboot version, since they scrapped the remake and decided to make a modernized and streamlined reboot instead.
>Look guys, we're remaking this game so you can enjoy it with better graphics!
>Ha ha, got your money, now it's going to be our new progressive story about nuclear lesbian robots because we're much better than looking glass!
Kickstarter and modern developers, not even once
>they're changing the levels and story
I bet you end up having a romantic dialogue option with Shodan as a lesbian couple.
Reactor/Maintenance decks were fucking abysmal and they are in the right for changing them
They're changing everything, for the worse.
Watch the fucking vid, literally everything what listed is based on that vid.
I can't beat the original, because I don't know where to go on level R. All the doors are locked and I've already found 2 vents that don't help me at all. I really wish I had a strategy guide from the 90s.
It looks like more or less the same build, though.
I wish they'd gone into detail about what they mean by "reboot"
>Sony's Crash Bandicoot remakes
What's the point unless Sony buys the rights to this series? It's honestly a huge waste of time desu.
It doesn't, the original video didn't have that shitty weapon limit for starters or the door code literally written next to it.
The original also still had the SS1-style UI with audiologs/diary etc as well. The original looked faithful, this looks exactly as they described, a streamlined and modernized. Because modern fucking casuals can't handle a game like System Shock.
For fucks sake, it doesn't even have the point and click mechanics anymore.
>bought the enhanced edition of SS1 on steam a few days ago
Gonna start it up once I've cleared a few backlog games, what am I in for Sup Forums?
They bought the rights from Activision actually in exchange for putting Crash into Skylanders and remaking Crash 1-3 on the notion that Activision gets lion's share of the sales and it was Activision that dictated Crash 1-3 being remade as part of the sales terms.
>also on the kickstarter page.
Which kickstarter page? It's not up yet.
It says nothing about changing levels, or streamlining anything, or their own vision. All it actually says is this:
>"We felt that the amount of passion and resources that we are putting into this game elevated it beyond the expectations that someone would have for a remaster," CEO Stephen Kick said. "This is a full-fledged reboot of a classic game into something new."
You are jumping to conclusions on a bare minimum of information.
An amazing mix between cyberpunk and space horror.
A game that perfectly mixes puzzle game with RPG and action mechanics. There literally is no other game like it. SS2 itself is already considerably streamlined compared to SS1.
>they confirmed this is going to be a streamlined and heavily altered reboot
THEY
DIDN'T
ONE IDIOT FUCKING GREENTEXTS SOME SHIT AND HALF THE FUCKING THREAD IS ALREADY PARROTING IT AS GOSPEL FUCKING TRUTH
I HATE YOU Sup Forums
>bare minimum
THE
FUCKING
VIDEO
IS
UP
YOU
DENSE
FUCK
THE VERY VIDEO
IN
THE
FUCKING
OP
WHICH ALREADY CHANGED A FUCKTON FROM THE ORIGINAL
SEE FOR FUCKS SAKE HOW CAN YOU EVEN NOT NOTICE SOMETHING AS OBVIOUS AS LACK OF THE AMAZING CYBERPUNK MUSIC?
This
>SS2 itself is already considerably streamlined compared to SS1.
SS2 is shit. Weapon degradation. Shitty upgrade system. Can't use weapons before you level up skills, etc. System Shock 1 is actually LESS complex. And that's a good thing.
Spooky monologues.
>ONE IDIOT FUCKING GREENTEXTS SOME SHIT
Watch the video in the OP next time, morons.
Most of these are ass-pulled assumptions.
Shame we won't get Brosius to make something to replace that borefest of SS1 OST.
Ah yes, the 'autistic ss1 apologist' is sperging out once again, very impressive
>they're changing the levels and story
I was getting excited, my bad.
Level design in SS2 is a lot less complex.
Puzzles (or I'd say relative lack of them) are also heavily dumbed down from SS1.
Weapon degradation and upgrade system were poorly implemented, I agree.
Its a alpha gameplay demo with 2 guns and alpha inventory textures. God damnit
>game is planned for consoles
into the cart it goes
>his looks exactly as they described, a streamlined and modernized
But that's not how they described it.
I think this looks excellent, it's about as good as we can expect for a remake nowadays.
Looking forward to it. Hope they do a graphical update for SS2. They best not change anything else for that one though; it's literally perfect.
DID YOU EVEN LOOK AT THE FUCKING INVENTORY SCREEN? IT CLEARLY HAS ONLY 2 WEAPON SLOTS YOU GODDAMN FUCKING RETARD
>SS2 is shit
>FOR FUCKS SAKE HOW CAN YOU EVEN NOT NOTICE SOMETHING AS OBVIOUS AS LACK OF THE AMAZING CYBERPUNK MUSIC?
Yeah, that's not really what I thought we were talking about.
>calling it a remaster
>it's actually a remake
When will this meme end?
>I hope the people who are changing everything about SS1 and not just updating the graphics remake SS2 and don't change anything other than graphics
Think before you write
SS2 is a mess compared to 1. 1 is actually perfect, 2 has too many half implemented ideas that weren't fully fleshed out.
Tetris inventory would suggest that you can carry as many guns as you can fit in it but can only have 2 assigned to a quick slot at a time
calm down you fucking psychopath autist
>remake
Not anymore.
Reboot*
The video in the OP is almost the same shit as the footage from the "faithful remake" build posted a few months ago. It's literally the same level and the same enemies and the same models and weapons and everything.
the zombies look shitty as fuck, their noise/groans are stupid as fuck, and so are their animation. and the music that starts when they first show up sucks.
They need to be more like SS2's .
Also, SHODAN's voice needs to be filtered heavier to sound more robotic. If not now, then at least later on. Gradually make it more robotic as she drops the facade.
Seriously tho, tweak the fucking zombie animations. Looks cartoony as fuck.
They have stated it was only a placeholder.
>they're changing the levels and story
Who are you quoting?
All of the things I said can be clearly seen in the video, you dolt. Also they literally confirmed XBONE. It's on their facebook.
I'm not him. I just saw that he was right after I played the game with mouse look.
>Puzzles (or I'd say relative lack of them) are also heavily dumbed down from SS1.
Yeah, I agree. Hacking in System Shock feels like actual hacking. Changing shit that implicitly changes more shit and it's up to you to figure out the hidden semantics of it all. SS2 is just click spam. Fuck, even Bioshock did hacking better than SS2.
But on the other hand System Shock 1 doesn't have a penalty if you die, as long as you have disabled cyborg conversion for the current level.
The core of the game is 10/10. Too bad the upgrade and degradation system makes it almost unplayable. Is there a mod that allows me to use all weapons regardless of level and levels while upgrading them increases the damage/aim, ala Deus Ex?
That still means you can only pick between two weapons at any given time without opening inventory, which was NOT the case in the original.
Wanna know how I know you're a retard that never played System Shock 1?
Placeholder as in the art, not mechanics you dumb fuck.
>borefest of SS1 OST.
YOU TAKE THAT BACK!
>Wanna know how I know you're a retard that never played System Shock 1?
I don't know, why don't you start by telling me the difference between the two videos that has your panties all in a bunch.
>but its only a beta
I'm getting some Infishit flashbacks here. And back then I was the deluded apologist.
Already listed here
Looks great but I can't get over the new voice messages. Something tells me they're going for a different feeling with the remake. At least the original game still exists.
>reboot
MAKE YOUR OWN FUCKING GAME
still gonna observe this to see how it turns out
expectations are low
>tfw the cyberpunk music is gone
Do not want
u.pomf.is
>60° fov view model (battleborn style)
Why do people get so mad at field of view? It's a video game not real life. I understand how much it would suck if you had shit peripheral vision in real life but it's a video game you damn niggers. I never even knew the term fov until I saw how much pcmustards loved bitching about this. As well as tons of other things mustard ricers bitch about like fps.
The video, dumb fuck. The one posted here that everyone was super excited about because it was so super fucking faithful before they overhauled it and ruined it.
That's right, they didn't. It's still the same. The level design is still the same. The story is still the same. People are jumping to conclusions.
>not original developers
>WE CAN DO BETTER
>reboot
>C&D the freeware SS Portable so they could steal it and release as EE for money
Die
>now it's going to be our new progressive story about nuclear lesbian robots
>1 is actually perfect
You fucking people, I bet in a year you'll all start saying that SS1 was always shit and Ultima Underworld was the only good one.
And if it's on the xbone, what? It's not like there haven't been hundreds of PC games ported to consoles. For example Deus Ex.
Not really. Some times I see people saying SS1 OST is better than the SS2 one, and every time I realize they only say that is because the slow combat of SS1 makes actually engaging/decent-paced music feel odd, while the SS2 OST allows fast-paced music which masks the slow combat and makes it feel faster (and better).
Shill harder, go and C&D more projects so you can steal them and release for money
End yourself. What are you doing in a SS thread, you fucking underage console shitter?
>People are jumping to conclusions.
The 8 minute video in the OP looks awful. There's no assumptions to be made, because what we're being shown is already a disaster.
>remaking an old but popular game that is still being sold
>the same publisher that is making the remake is still profiting from the original game
>using a cheap as shit engine despite its widely known performance issues
Why does this even need Kickstarter money? It seems like a lazy hack job.
I can't lie. That UI looks 10/10, comfy as fuck.
>And if it's on the xbone, what? It's not like there haven't been hundreds of PC games ported to consoles. For example Deus Ex.
Yeah, and wanna know what fucking happened to Deus Ex when it was ported to PS2?
The levels got butcherd to be 1/4 their original size, some dialogue was censored (by removing entire fucking lines), the enemy AI and recoil got completely dumbed down among many other changes.
But do tell me what an amazing and faithful experience the PS2 port of Deus Ex is.
Kill yourself.
>There's no assumptions to be made
That doesn't stop Sup Forums, apparently.
People are literally already repeating things that someone else made up and pretended the devs said. Within the span of a single thread. This is how misinformation spreads, Sup Forums. This happens all the time. You people need to learn to keep a level head.
The only reason why the original "faithful remake" build looked "faithful" was because they showed off jack shit.
They showed off barely anything in the first trailer.
While the new one with more gameplay is the same build just with more stuff.
Same level design. Same visuals.
It's all the fucking same you twats.
You just think it's different because they didn't show off the things you didn't want to see in the first trailer.
