it's annoying now that a game has to tell me it's a "dark souls like"
no interest now
Is it gud?
Nobody cares
That's a cool name and ban-
>Dark Souls
>Rogue-like
I'm good.
>Dark Souls
>Roguelike
Wowie
>the dark souls roguelike
>"WHAT'S UP LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,"
drop'd
It looks neat, I'll probably give it a try because I'm not a memelord triggered by buzzwords some random reviewer guy said.
Honestly i don't get the souls like hate. Games with dark souls-esque combat can be described as dark souls like and it tells me how the games going to play. We do this with other games like we can describe a game as castlevania like or metroidvania or I've even heard games compared to legend of Zelda or have something called a CoD clone. The new warhammer game Inquisitor Martyr was called a diablo like by a reviewer and i completely agreed. it's a top down loot and skill based mob fighter/dungeon crawler, because it was compared to diablo in gameplay aspects doesn't mean it can't be original and fun in its own way. Torchlight 2 was even compared to diablo and basically was diablo and still did great at launch. Stop being so jaded it's a video game.
Because Dark Souls is popular now people on Sup Forums pretend to hate it and anything based on it in order to sound contrarian and cool.
Don't bother trying to argue with them.
>muh dark souls combat brb rolling like a fucking retard oh shit lag
case in point
literally the best comic
>have this in my cart
>youtu.be
>Dark Souls
>Roguelike
guess I'll just remove it now...
It looked good. I just don't like the buzz words it's uses to try to pull people in. I'll probably get it anyway.
Why would you have it in your cart if you didn't even know the basic gameplay elements of what you're about to buy? Also...
>preordering a digital product of which there are infinite copies
Yeah, you must be retarded.
The did that already. It's called Bloodborne chalice dungeons and they got old quickly.
Besides if feel most "Dark Souls like" games miss what made Dark Souls so great to begin with.
Honestly, the thing that bothers me about Dark Souls inspiration the most is the way people go with the "Oooh, the plot is all hidden in item descriptions and dumb vague dialogue"
You add in rogue-like and I'm double outtie. The only way you could make your game sound any less interesting would be by adding the words "Open World" to it
It's not that it isn't a good descriptor for some games. For something like Necropolis it is, because the combat is basically the Dark Souls formula with a few differences.
People get mad when something is described as "Dark Souls-like" because nowadays there are tons of people who will call any game Souls-like, even if all it is is a single gameplay mechanic that makes it similar.
Death has a consequence? It's like Dark Souls.
Combat has a lock-on? It's Dark Souls!
Story is told "environmentally" instead of being given straight to the player? Wow, just like Dark Souls!
I think the only thing dark souls inspired here is the combat, and it doesn't even advertise itself as a souls-like on the store page, just a "rogue-lite".
Open world survival with crafting mechanics. whoaaaaaaaah
Holy shit let me simplify because apparently you missed the entire point.
>Someone made thing "A"
>Someone else then made thing "B" which is similar to thing "A"
>Why is everyone so mad whenever someone uses thing "A" to see tube thing "B"
Don't forget "procedurally generated"
Hell, it's called NECROpolis. Is this shit about Zombies too? Go for the all out Wammy.
why cant western devs into good animation
I was implying thing A wasn't so good in the first place and doesn't deserve thing B to be made after its example. But it's not me who represents the gayming majority these days.
>developers are called "hair brain schemes"
Poetry.
Souls combat isn't good enough to carry a whole game
They're the ones who made the new Shadowrun games too.
Because it's not out yet, ain't it?
>Was supposed to release like 2 weeks before DS3 to bide people until DS3
>Pushed back to Summer 2016
It lost the big point of existing.
>Dark Souls Roguelike
>Defining your game like that is okay
End my life tonight, Pete.
I was really excited about it till E3, then it was shown that it is a slow-paced and clunky game. Pass.
>The Dark Souls Roguelike
>All these Sup Forumsirgins saying they have no interest in a game that is called a dark souls roguelike
>By a literal who
It's not the devs calling it that, it's the youtube retard.
>instead it's going to release months after ds3 long after people have become bored of it
If they had to push it back, it was smart that they decided to push it way back. Releasing at the same time or shortly after ds3 would have been suicide.
Apparently Sup Forums are triggered by buzzwords
I do agree, but now people are content with the mediocrity of DS3 that they don't need a similar title to bide them over until the DLC.
that's probably just because those dungeons are utter garbage
Kill me, Pete
And this youtuber certainly didn't receive a press release on how to promote the game.
In case you had any doubt
Someone explain this comic.
Probably because it looks like shit.
shut it down, the goyim know
being a rather indie looking game it probably won't have online fea-
>multiplayer
>Co-op
alright i'll definitely give it a go and refund it if it's shit
