Also, by blue dudes you mean Boujack and Zangya? They're from the 9th DBZ movie, but the story on Super Butoden 2 is different from the movie, in the game they come to earth looking for the DBs and they build some towers to consume humanity's energy or something.
In the movie the Z warriors fight them on another planet.
The plot on the game is actually more interesting than the plot on the movie.

Did they even explain why are Pilaf and the gang kids on Super? I remember in BotG they show the moment they turned into kids, but in Super they appear as kids from the beginning and never explain it iirc.

Even Goku mentions how impressed how far Trunks got by himself he is with Trunks when they're sparring.

Him being literally the last warrior in the timeline that has the ability to stop a universe-ending threat probably kept him motivated. If only it had done the same to Gohan.

IIRC Vegeta just steamrolls through every DB arc and Goku is super strong in the saiyan saga because of zenkai boosts while Vegeta stagnated because he never had a challenge

That's what color it was in the manga, so they changed it to keep it consistent.

Super Saiyan 2 was always kinda lame. Gohan was the only one that got any drastic change. For the most part it was just slightly spikier hair and lightning.

Honestly this just evokes that old rule of thumb you're supposed to remind yourself of when writing. Something like "Make sure the story you're telling is the most interesting one you can tell." Future Trunks constantly sounds like the character with the better stories.

Sparks are kind of a thing but it's supposed to make your hair stand up even straighter if possible.

And Trunk's hair can definitely do that since it's kind of only flared up a bit as a super saiyan

SS2 is just more spiky hair, and I think his hair is less yellow and more white.

they really should have reworked it.

It's really not that interesting. The only interesting part is maybe his interaction with the Kaioshin.

Besides that though, it's probably about identical to the beginning of the Buu saga except he manages to kill Dabura unlike Gohan's wimpy ass. That in turn leads to a rather anti-climatic finish though.

Future Trunks is just a cooler character so the story sounds cooler than it actually is.

Actually Dabura was much weaker than Perfect Cell. Goku or Vegeta could have taken him. Even Gohan, whow as signifcantly weaker after his fight with cell, was able to go toe to toe with him.

My hair was blond when I was younger, now it's a darker brown.
Perhaps a similar thing happened to him.

However, I think the real reason is because they wanted to give him Bulma's hair color, but they still fucked up since they still left kid Trunks' original purple.
