is escapism via video games healthy Sup Forums?
Is escapism via video games healthy Sup Forums?
Depends.
No it's not. Ignoring your problems is never healthy
I also hate that video games are used for such, and that using them for such is so common
But I still find it undeniable that some people have such shitty lives that they pretty much need it.
Still think most of the faggots should just suck it up
if you get bullied irl and get bullied when play online, you're not escape much
A lot of real life problems can't be dealt with like fixing a car though. In those cases escapism is better than banging your head against the problem.
No, but escapism is unhealthy in general.
well there is still religious groups today and most of their members are pretty normal, so yeah escapism from reality via video games is healthy.
List a few of them then.
>society somehow thinks it's more normal to believe in a mystical jewish sky ghost than to get immersed in videogames
What a world
If you need escapism over a fuckin broken car then you're exactly the type of faggot that needs to suck it up.
The funny thing is that you'd likely still just go play videogames or watch TV after breaking said car, escapism or no, since you wouldnt really be able to go anywhere.
In moderation.
If there's not a clear solution & it's a temporary thing (ie 'my heads in a bad place right now') then I see that as okay.
It's where it becomes habitual &/or prolonged that there's an issue, because you're not tackling problems that *need* to be tackled & addictions are never a good thing.
Escapism is the only thing keeping me marginally sane, so i'd say it's plenty healthy. Though i liked it better when my hobby was for antisocial outcasts than normalfags
you are engaging in real life activities with other people while worshipping a mystical jewish sky ghost though
Escapism is the only thing that makes life worth living. Prove me wrong.
I'll easily prove you wrong:
It's the only thing that makes you live.
Considering the entertainment industry makes a metric fuckton of money, you factually can't be proven wrong
Are you a real person? Not trying to insult you, but your post has like 5 hooks in it.
>If you need escapism over a fuckin broken car
I think he may have meant fixing your life problems isn't like fixing a car.
and how is that a positive?
What?
If I have a broken car then I fix it. I was pointing out that there are problems that are not as easily solvable or they can not be solved at the time given.
But go ahead and try to solve it anyway or worry yourself sick about or what have you. It won't help.
This. Whether you escape into games, movies, books or social activities it's all escapism from the basic human need of surviving.
>My reading comprehension
When a problem seemingly cant be solved I just stop caring really
Well, I used to use video games as escapism from politics because someone in my family is (allegedly) a prominent figure in a activism scene and she brings that shit home with her full of fallacies and bullshit, but SJWs fucked that up big time since I can't play any game now without this asshole elephant in the room that someone out there is arguing about inane bullshit like character designs being too sexist.
Now that I've been properly saturated in this shitfling for about 3 years now that I would have rather not heard about or experienced, I'm just constantly frustrated all the time at how stupid some people act and the sheer hypocrisy of everyone because I no longer truly have anything to distract me from it. I feel psychologically less healthy without video games as escapism now. So if anything I'd argue that yes, video games for escapism WAS healthy.
If you've got a problem that can't be solved like just fixing a car then it's a serious issue that requires a proper amount of time to address and work towards solving, even if it takes years. You're not supposed to just retreat into your own mind because you can't handle the tough times.
religious people generally contribute more to the people they live with and society as a whole than video game addicts who often live solitary lives
Healthy? No, but all forms of life coping techniques are eventually harmful to the person in the long way if overused, so as long as you don't use it too much for every single little problem you should be fine.
any type of escapism is bad.
This includes.
Venting to people who are not trained professionals.
Any type of time killing hobby.
Any type of drug usage, including alcohol.
Your body and mind are something to be won and conquered, not dealt with and tolerated.
But wouldn't being a cripple like Marche's brother be less healthy?
The girl I can understand because her problems are trivial.
Escapism is wonderful
trust me
Doned was a dick who didn't understand just how much of his mother's and brother's time went into trying to keep him happy.
