I've settled on naming him Link since 1999. I don't care.

First it was a clone, now a robot? when will you people stop?

There are three possibilities:

1.) We'll be able to name our file as per usual in Zelda, but not the character.

2.) The voice that called Link by name is a demo-only feature, and in the final game we'll be able to name both our file and our character (meaning that all dialogue instances of our character's name will not be voiced).

3.) Files cannot be named and we're forced to use the name "Link" for our character.

They wil use the tomadachi life voice technology to say the name

It's also possible that some story related characters will call you Link regardless while you have a different name that everyone else calls you by.

I'm guessing Link is a title for someone who was put in stasis, for whatever they were intended to do.

Nah, he was just put into stasis, not resurrected. Think like Ripley from the Alien franchise for instant, or just cryogenic freezing.

It is possible to be a former Link though, most people's theories if it is is that it's the Hero of Time in either the Child or Downfall timelines.

In the demo when he gets up the area says "resurrection room" or something along those lines

It does, it's mostly just a catch-all term in this case. He's being 'resurrected' from his stasis/sleep. The game also says he's just been asleep for 100 years.

Most likely option. A "Link" is pretty established as an avatar for the hero at this point.
