And if you just want to go through the story they've always been solid monsters. In 2 they have shittons of counters. I don't know what passive skill they picked up in 3, but some of them were insanely powerful.

She's kinda tsundere at first but ends up being really likeable. Path of Radiance is arguably one of the best games in the series, has alot of great characters. Your best bet is emulating though, you aren't going to find a physical copy unless you shill out 100+ dollars.

The royal Laguz were broken. Other Laguz were very strong early on while transformed and near useless otherwise. They didn't scale as hard. RD made it harder for non royals by having stronger enemies

The most fun Laguz to use in RD was Nailah in the early game, she might have been broken as fuck but goddamn was it entertaining to set her up as bait and watch her btfo everyone with kicks.

Other than that I don't remember using Laguz much at all in RD until the endgame.

I've also gotten ahold of one by Blendy where she starts shedding, and Talbain helps her shave her body fur... then they fuck. It's adorable.
Sadly, it hasn't been scanned by anyone... I might someday. Scanned BeastxBeast and Round02 a while ago. Need to touch up those scans and reup them to sadpanda...

The laguz rise in utility when you give them paragon/resolve/beastfoe (Volug in part 3) and have them fight untransformed. This is one of the reasons the cats are considered so bad with exception to Ranulf. They have a very hard time leveling up using this method at join time and also have to deal with a really bad transformation gauge. Ulki and Janaff are Ranulf tier and join fine.

The tigers (Muarim, Mordecai, and Kyza) make excellent use of these skills to cap their defense/strength stats by fighting untransformed to gain massive exp. Vika really appreciates paragon on it's own since she is so low level (but surprisingly decent at rejoin time - lots of mages in that chapter and her stats cap really quickly due to insane growths) that she can fight promoted and gain a level per kill till she hits a bunch of caps (then you can just BEXP her other stats).

No that first story in the doujin is definitely from a much earlier time, like early 2000s.
