When will CDcucks realize this is the worst 2-D sonic games?
It's color palette alone make me want to puke

Yeah it's shit but most of us only like it ironically
I can't comment on the quality of the game because the boss theme always scared the shit out of me and made me stop playing
Sonic Boom's a pretty cool song though
Woah what, it is? Fuck, I never realized during my 3 or so play throughs. Guess I have to stop liking it now because you say so.
That boss music in the US version was too spooky man.
It's the worst of the Genesis era 2D platformers, but it isn't the worst overall sidescroller when the likes of Sonic 4 exists. I also think CD has the best aesthetics in the entire series.
I hate to say it but...
As bad as Sonic 4 is, at least the level design isn't a fucking mess. Sonic CD's physics also feel off
The jump sound pisses me off.
>It's a bait thread
Nobody is baiting here, friend.
Then I'm afraid that you have the plebest of shit taste, "friend".
...
I bet you think 2 is the best Genesis Sonic, right? CD is an excellent game, but only if you allow yourself to try playing by its unique rules. If you just want to go right, you're missing out on what CD can offer in terms of exploration and creative level design.
It's more exploration based, but the level design isn't cheap and it isn't hard to figure out navigation. Wacky Workbench isn't great but even that isn't as bad as people say.
>mfw i learned CD came before 3
>I bet you think 2 is the best Genesis Sonic, right?
No
> Best Sonic game
> Best music
How can anyone dislike Sonic CD?
With a huge amount of shit taste and butthurt
Ok.
It's Sup Forums. There's always a way.
>If you just want to go right, you're missing out on what CD can offer in terms of exploration and creative level design.
Flanderising Sonic 2 doesn't make your game look better. You want a platformer that offers exploration and creative level design, go play Buster's Hidden Treasure instead of Sega Had Sex With The Tile Editor CD.
>How can anyone dislike Sonic CD?
Clusterfuck of a level design
Shitty bosses
Shitty boss music
Shitty color palette
Very short(even for a sonic game)
Shoehorned time travel gimmick.
some of the music is great, but other sonics have more, better tracks.
OP, you and the rest of these faggots were either in diapers, or not even a glimmer in your dad's balls when this game came out.
Fuck right off you underaged faggots
1988, try again.
>Sonic CD's level design isn't just 'hold right to win', therefore it's creative and challenging and encourages exploration
>Sonic 1's level design isn't just 'hold right to win', therefore it's plodding bullshit that fails to take advantage of the speed the game offers
Pick one CDicks
>dismiss modern games as boost to win
>complain when level design isn't purely go straight
Stay classy.
There's a healthy medium, you know.
What if I like both games?
Only Sonic2 faggots complain about that shit
Did Sonic CD fuck your mom or something? Sonic 2 is less complex, and the Genesis games always had secrets and multiple routes. CD just goes the next level and throws in multiple variations of the same stage that you can pop in and out of on top of that.
Is there really? Or do you just prefer running sections over platforming sections?
Sonic 1 is the worst.
Also
toot toot sonic warrior>sonic boom
Mcfucking kill urself my man
The level design in Sonic CD is an absolute mess; there is no cohesion whatsoever, it's a bunch of random tiles and strings dispersed everywhere and stapled together like some sort of Frankenstein beast.
I don't care about what you consider to be "creative" or not. The Genesis levels are simpler, true, but that was all they needed. They have thoughtfully placed obstacles and elements, which works together to make a level that you actually want to play, unlike the digital vomit that was every single level in CD.
What the fuck is up with all the Sonic CD threads lately? There's never been this many before.
I recently started listening to the US soundtrack for CD and honestly think it's better than the JP one. The JP one is just ridiculous funk all the time and random words thrown into some songs. The US tracks actually portray the environments very well and the bad/good future tracks really give you a sense of helplessness when in you're in bad future. Helplessness that makes you want to actually go back and fix the past. Meanwhile in the JP one I'd find myself going into bad future just to listen to some of the music.
My favorite tracks in both Sonic US and JP come are these. The perfect ones for the level.

I especially like how they're actually major and minor in tone.

Sonic Mania hype obviously has people going back to other Sonic games, and CD is one of the most memorable classic ones due to its mechanics and OST.
Sonic CD 2 got announced a week or two ago.
Sonic Mania discussion probably brought it back up.
I was actually just thinking earlier how Tidal Tempest is one of the most "legit" water zones in a Sonic game. Good level design, fair challenge, and a main focus on water above all else.
Autistic faggots need to spout le level design meme to feel superior.
People are going back to old Sonic games due to Sonic Mania's announcement. Since CD is the best game in the series, Sup Forums feels the need to convince others otherwise.
>offering actual critique on a flawed aspect of a game is now a meme
Never
CD autists are just hipsters. The actual game is terrible and its one of the few sonic games whose soundtrack i dont have downloaded. Meaning its shit
Only thing I hate about CD is how fucking long you have to sprint to get time-travel.
>running for a good 5 seconds
>slightly hit a wall but still in motion
>lose the sparks and have to find another sign
...
CD's level design is built around the time travel elements, so if they built every level like Chemical Plant or Carnival Night you'd be time travelling on accident so often it would get in the way of the fun. There's tons of stuff to explore in a given CD level, and the game gives you incentive to do so with getting Good Futures or just plain curiosity.
That being said, not everyone's cup of tea, but Sonic CD is the perfect sandbox for playing with Sonic's physics.
The Steam rerelease of CD is fucking stellar and Christian Whitehead is a fucking God.
Why don't they release the other Genesis games with his engine?
1 and 2 got Whiteheaded on mobile.
3 & Knuckles is hands down, without question the best Mega Drive Sonic.
2fags need to kill themselves.
See:
When will 3cucks realize it's the worst game?
I started playing CD not too long ago. My OCD kicks in and I feel like shit when I realize I'm missing shit.
I get the exploration aspect, but with how the levels are, trying to backtrack and explore is like swimming against a swift current. Which is a shame, because I really want to enjoy this game, and I really love every other aspect of it.
I think when I get time I'll try picking it up again.
That's like getting a remastered film but only being able to watch it on an iPad.
If Sega's excuse for not giving it proper releases is because they already sell the roms they are the biggest tools on the planet.
The universal acclaim Sonic Mania received instantly better wake them up.
The only reason it's not on mobile is because Sega is eternally screwed with Sonic 3's music licensing issues.
Delete this thread you massive faggot
Should honestly just let the Mania musician redo the soundtrack.
Michael Jackson's half assed input was never that great to begin with.

In order from good to most goodest
still better than 1
1 is a bad game
3 > 2 > CD > 1
That's not Generations 3DS.
You could even get Sonic 1 and 2 before the Whitehead remasters they were just emulated too.
hOhOhOhOhO
That's not Sonic Lost World on 3DS.
3&K > CD > 1 > 2
Woah what the heck man, why the hostility? Suicide isn't funny.
How could you hate CD when it introduced the best character?
>Sonic 2 is the worst game of the 16 bit gen
Time to stop posting bro.
Q Quadrant bad and good future are both superior to the present in US version. Present sounds like a clusterfuck.
It's just my opinion man, I find it pretty meh compared to the other 3.
2 beats CD for co-op and better art-style/bonus stages. The soundtracks are too unique to compare but still both are good.
3 prettymuch expanded upon 2 and then 3&K expanded upon that even more.
Sonic 1's only upside is being the game that started it all. Doesn't really excel at anything.
Sonic CD is too short, the boss battles were easy, the art-style is a bit of a vaporwave tier mess, and there's no co-op or super sonic play. The special stages were also not as good as Sonic 2.
1 was worst, by no means bad but it's not that great.
but i like both CD and 1 though
They're all pretty good. I like how collecting chaos emeralds works in Sonic 2, it incentivises you to try and keep 50 rings and explore the around acts for posts. The special stages can get pretty hard and usually involve trying a couple of times, but that makes it even more satisfying to get them all. Sonic 3 did a similar thing with big rings and blue sphere's difficulty, they were a little easier and more fair which is cool. In 3 you're more focussed on just progressing quickly, while also keeping an eye out for secrets. I do prefer "get blue spheres" to "not enough rings" though.

siivagunner made a dope ass remix of stardust speedway present JP and studiopolis
>remix
>just overlaying one track over the other
yeah no sonic 2 is the worst of the classics
3&K > 2 = CD > 1
1 is objectively the worst of the original games:
no spindash
shit tier level design in zones like marble zone and labyrinth zone
music sounds too bland compared to later entries
etc
sonic 2 and CD are below 3&K but not by much
More like a fucking clusterfuck. It doesn't even sound good.
I was originally just gonna say exactly this.
silvagunnner is just an epic memer now
fuck off REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>better art-style/bonus stages.
I disagree entirely, I love & prefer the aesthetics, art style & Special Stages of Sonic CD. Sonic 2's interested me less all around. Also co-op in Classic Sonic was always kind lacking in my opinion, you usually go too fast for the second player to really help making them just respawn in your general area a lot of the time. Hell, in Sonic 3 & Knuckles you can tell they never really thought about Tails helping you in multiple levels since you can just use him to go over large gaps of the level by walking over the top. I can understand the point on 1 though, I just prefer the Zones compared to 2 when it comes to it.

>play through Sonic CD
>destroy all the machines and Metal Sonic holograms in the past
>collect all the Time Stones
>by the time I get to Stardust Speedway there's no more machines because I have all the Time Stones, by the time I get to Metallic Madness there's no more Metal Sonic holograms
>can't get the achievement for destroying all the machines because I didn't manually destroy them all
>have to start over from the beginning
fug
2 is fucking overrated.
Sonic Mania will have co-op right? If they do, they should make it split screen and encourage traveling and add some kind of collectathon element to encourage going around the levels.
They could bring back time-travel with finding the machines in the past, but they'd just be recycling an old gimmick.
Yeah, I'm a fan of CD but that's annoying as hell. I just always get the last Time Stone in Metallic Madness Act.2 at this point.
>not getting the time stones with Sonic and then destroying the machines with tails on the second playthrough since you unlock him then
It sounded like shit when it popped up in my subscription box, it sounds like shit now.
Fun fact: this is the one and only game starring the character "SONICCD the hedgehog"
I don't understand, that's just a picture of Sonic.
>sonic mania having co op.
To dream the impossible dream...
>Not destroying all the machines & getting all the Time Stones with Sonic on the original Sega/Mega CD version
>we will never get animation like this again
but what about the time limit?
You can't get the achievement of destroying all the machines & Metal Sonic holograms with Tails.
>original version
>achievements
Not him but the only time I had an issue with the Time Limit was in Wacky Workbench. I'll never not hate that level.
>worst sonic game
>not all of them
wut? sonic is trash and you know it
