I play this a lot, but it annoys me that absolutely no one seems to criticise it. Plus the first game is absolutely fucking dreadful and you can't connect to a stable game in it at all.

I don't think many people that play RL played the original game. I hadn't heard of it till I was 50 hours into RL.

Also there's plenty of criticism to be had over wasteland and neo tokyo, as well as the kinda shitty "Throw em all to the wolves" approach of each new season.

I gave it a go recently because it's like 3 bucks on PSN and it is borderline unplayable. Seriously it's a pain in the arse to even touch the ball and the camera is positioned fucking terribly, not to mention the aforementioned unplayable lag online.

Christ. I was showing my friend the game two days ago. I crossed the ball over the goal at a good height that wouldn't easily be blocked. My teammate completely missed it. He proceeded to arrive 5 seconds late, take the boost I was flying into, and then fuck up and not get back to the goal in time and let them score.

He missed the pass, let them take possession uncontested, took the boost I needed, and didn't capitalize on it and let them score.

I was annoyed but I was also happy to show my friend what the game was like. Cause he had a funny impression of it only playing with me and never with a pub.

It's a super fun game, but the matchmaking is so goddamn bad in casual play and ranked.

There was a string of like two days where I didn't win a single fucking match because I was put up against players way higher than me and put into games that were already in progress and blowouts.

How's your camera setup?
I go with max fov and high distance to see everything but I can't hit the fucking ball like that, and if I reduce them it feels wrong
Also when the ball is on air and I'm under it camera goes apeshit. Do I have to unlock ball cam for that?

I have my own question. How do you guys roll in air? Holding x for rolling while simultaneously tapping b on the other side of the controllers button diamond is really fucking challenging and I don't think it works well.

I'm thinking about rebinding LB and RB to rotate the car while in air. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

I ended up being god-tier at defending because I woud only play unranked for the longest time and no one ever even tries to rotate for defense.

The only thing I have trouble with is going up against very good dribblers, both on ground and air. I dunno if there is some techinque to defending high level dribbles or its just a 50/50 guess where they're going with it

Unless you're talking about rising star levels here, just aim for a middle of the road approach and force them to break and make a bad shot.

I use LB for powerslide/rotation, scoreboard isn't that important. It'll take some getting used to though.

Well they have to try to launch the ball over you at some point, if you just sit still you're giving them more control so against dribblers just go aggressive. The closer they get to the goal the easier it will be for them to score, as obvious as it sounds. Once they see you coming they'll usually pop it so your timing needs to be on spot.

I've had a guy try to forfeit 20 seconds in because we both missed (he missed and I had a tougher save to make because I expected him to clear it easily) and they scored.

Literally raged when I didn't agree to forfeit 20 seconds in. Not an exaggeration he was all caps yelling in chat while the game was live.

He eventually just quit out. It was a shame. Some people really are not meant for competitive play.
