When will prices go down on the 1080 and 1070...

When will prices go down on the 1080 and 1070? I'm looking to maximize vidya at 1440p + 144Hz and every site seems to have highway robbery tier prices for these things. The stated prices on release are nowhere to be found.

Sup Forums is really unhelpful

Do you seriously think Sup Forums can see into the future? Not everyone is a fucking time traveler.

People have been buying them, did they really pay the crazy prices? Most places are out of stock too

Nigga, you didn't answer my fucking question.

Do you think Sup Forums can see into the future to tell you when prices will go down?!

You cant be poor and expect to game at 1440p + 144Hz you fucking idiot.

next year
don't expect price drops before christmas

prices will slowly drop down to what the 970 is right now for the 1070, but who knows about the 1080. theres going to be another big card released soon.

1440 at 144hz is going to be a struggle for the 1080 though, so its not like you have any other option, besides waiting for the new card. theres always a "new card around the corner" when you buy high-end though, or a revision, so if youre looking for advice on practicality there is none, besides wait for the new beast card.

TLDR: AAA games cant be maxed out at those specs with a 1080. but maybe the new benchmark card will do it.

what? i get 70+ fps at 1440p maxed out with only a gtx 1070.

4k maxed out, I get around 30-40 fps.

what games though?

he wants 144 fucking hz at fucking 4K

there isnt a card that can do that consistently across AAA games. unless he meant one or the other, and misspoke.

cpu?

>he thinks 1440p = 4k

Give it a year. Any time you're spending more than $134 on something you should always wait a year before you actually buy it.

i7 6800k
Dark souls 3, Inquisition, TW: Shogun 2, Fallout 4, shadow or mordor,
you said 1440p. That's 2k, not 4k. Gaming at 1440p is more than doable with a 1070.

>$134
how did we come to this conclusion

By exact science that your puny little mind could never comprehend!

...

what are you talking about
i got a 1080 for msrp on day one

On amazon, newegg, etc they're all 150 - 200 more than MSRP. I figured they would go down when the "founder" bullshit went away and the third party cards get released. Not a poorfag, but I do want to get a good value out of my purchase

which card would be best suited to 1080p/60fps gaming? 1060 or 480?

halp

>Maxed out Shadow of Mordor at 4K
>1070
>Stable 30-40 FPS
huh

The RX 480 is looking to do better than the 1060 as DX12 becomes more common, right?
I'm not sure whether the upgrade my 2GB 960 with one of those two now, or just wait for the next series.

I want to support AMD because I hate the idea of anyone having a GPU monopoly, but Nvidia seems so much better in all cases.

Where did you get yours?

They're both about equal though both seem to excel at different games. If you want Gsync and Shadowplay/Ansel then go 1060, if you want Freesync then go 480. You really can't go wrong with either.

Doesn't really matter, they're pretty much equal.

Although AMD usually has long term support for their cards ie it will gradually get better as more and more driver updates come whereas with Nvidia it's the exact opposite, it will gradually get worse with time. For that reason I prefer AMD.

yep. this time around it seems nvidia has made the 1060 towards pushing you to upgrade quicker

they pushed hyper settings on mirror's edge that require 8gb vram but the 1060 has 6gb vram which isn't going to last this gen. And they made it so that you can't sli them. It also can't do high levels of async compute.
